The Acorn Story.
Now listen carefully,
It's time for a story.
Oh yay,
I love stories!
Can you remember those acorns on the branches of your tree?
But they all fell off in the wind.
Yes,
They did.
Let me tell you about one of them.
Awkward Acorn found himself in a dark,
Dark,
Scary place.
It was cold and damp and he couldn't see anything that he knew.
Where am I?
He whimpered.
Does anyone know I'm here?
There was no answer,
Not even a peep.
Help!
He shouted.
Someone help!
It's me!
Awkward!
I'm here,
Over here!
Still no answer.
Everything was silent.
I'm all on my own.
Nobody needs me.
What will become of me?
They probably won't even miss me,
He cried.
And with that,
He fell fast asleep.
Is that the story?
No,
There's more.
Months passed and then one day,
Awkward felt a strange feeling in his body.
What was that?
He asked,
Rubbing his eyes as he awoke.
He looked up and noticed a small green stalk growing from the top of his head.
Goodness me,
What is that?
He asked again.
With time,
The small green stalk grew bigger and bigger and stronger and stronger.
Finally,
It made its way through the surface of the soil into the sun.
And it grew and grew and grew.
As Awkward watched,
He noticed that it was his own body that was changing,
Right before his very eyes.
Wow,
I think it's me.
I'm so much more than I thought I was.
The small green stalk had become a big,
Strong oak tree.
Awkward Acorn was no longer an awkward acorn.
He had changed into an awesome oak.
The children came and played in the shade of his large,
Leaf-filled arms.
The birds came and made their nests on his branches.
The squirrels came and stored their food in his trunk.
And he would tell all of them his story.
And he taught them the song.
