Welcome to a 10 minute meditation on hands,
Finishing with a cosmic wish.
I'm going to go straight into a short guided meditation,
So please place your hands in front of you nice and flat.
And just looking,
Focus now on the hands,
From that first little finger up and down the next finger.
Looking at the skin,
The colour,
The nails,
The wrinkles at the knuckles,
All the way to the thumb.
The hands and the age you are now,
How they have changed.
See the veins and think if you wish,
How your hands are your tool,
Often constantly at work.
Perfectly designed for everything you desire to do.
And as you take a nice deep breath in with me,
Bringing your awareness to other cultures that do many decorative things with the hands.
Places like Hawaii,
Where women dance with their hands and their long curly nails,
Often performed on a theatre stage.
Then there's the Hana painted Indian for the hands of Indian traditions,
Applied to Hindu weddings or festivals.
Imagine now how a blind person and how much they rely on touch.
Just one of your five senses.
And for the blind person,
How they navigate through life,
In life,
From room to room,
Object to object.
Another of your senses is hearing,
So for a deaf person,
The hands are used for sign language.
It's fascinating to watch.
I myself have had a group of deaf people buy various items at a shop I was working,
And the hands move very fast.
In general,
We all have our senses.
And the hands that we wave or point are as a child flushing their angry fist when upset.
Take a nice deep breath with me now.
And simply close,
Close your eyes.
And if you turn your hands over,
You'd be in the right position for a hand reading.
An expert looking at your lifelines.
And giving information of what has happened and yet to come.
Famous hands.
If I were to put one silver glove on your hand,
It instantly connects you to the singing famous Michael Jackson.
Now if you were going on that first date,
We often look to see if he or she is wearing a ring.
And your jewellery can express also your personality.
Some jewellery may be passed down your family tree,
Your generation.
Grandmothers,
Where jewellery was often more colourful and delicate.
And we are often reminded how hard our parents' parents did work.
Your hands were things of strength.
But also music was played more.
Pianos,
Radios,
Record players for entertainment.
And the clapping of hands to the beat.
Now gloves were a very popular item for ladies and for all in much harsher long white winters.
But each family even now has their own unique hand print sign.
And the famous thumb print.
We know now that no two thumb prints are the same.
Proving your identification unique to you.
And at the end of the day we are all connected simply because we are all born on this big place called Mother Earth.
We all offer something unique.
Often what truly makes you happy is your true gift.
A lot of history,
Way of life,
Working the land.
Now we have evolved,
Survived and thrived.
Created,
Invented,
Found new things,
New species.
We invented the wheel,
The car,
The plane,
Telephones,
Internet,
Built ships.
As humans we have great potential.
We have imagination.
We are inventors.
Our relationship to the animal kingdom protecting our abundant growing world.
Even aware our contact with the spirit world as we are truly never alone.
We do like new things but also hold dearly old traditions.
Grandparents will always have a special message to grandchildren.
Stories of how much more you have when they were your age.
We are succeeding to make the world more comfortable,
More better.
Our hearts and our minds can make some very special ideas become a reality for all to share and enjoy abundantly.
And a tradition that has stood the test of time.
The power of prayer,
Wishing,
Hoping.
