Hello friend.

Let us shake off the day's weight and gather in close as we take Emily's mittened hand in ours and step together into a story about a magical snow globe that offers passage to a realm where winter's magic meets an ice-kissed world alive with promise.

So lend me your ears as our tale begins.

Flurries and fantastical adventures await.

The winter daylight began to fade outside the quaint Christmas shops along the snow-swept plain.

Emily pulled her further down over her ears as fat snowflakes began to fall,

Turning the world white and quiet.

One glowing storefront caught her eye,

Its windows twinkling with holiday scenes.

She hurried over,

Pressing her cold hands to the warm glass pane.

Inside,

Cases glittered with treasures just begging to be explored.

Scanning past festive villages and candy mountains,

Something else caught her eye.

Snow globes lined in rows up and down the counter.

Her face lit up at the miniature worlds trapped beneath the glass.

Unable to resist,

Emily pushed open the shop door,

Sighing as heat wrapped around her.

She made a beeline for the snow globes,

Scanning the whirling flakes with glee until one particular snowy scene drew her near.

It's like a snow-covered bubble,

She whispered.

As if hearing,

The sparkling flecks inside the snow globe floated thick and fast in reply.

She felt herself smiling and drew even nearer.

Delicately running her mittened fingers down smooth curves of cool glass,

An idea grew in her mind.

A small,

Amusing fancy at first,

Blossoming quickly into a blazing daydream.

At once,

As if by their own direction,

Emily felt her hands lift the snowy sphere from its resting place and draw it toward her.

Within its depths,

An ice-blue castle with turret-like icicles gleamed invitingly amid snow-clad pines.

Hello,

Friend,

A gentle voice echoed in her mind.

Would you like to visit our wintry world?

Emily looked around.

No one stood near enough to speak.

Brows knitting momentarily,

She found her attention pulled again through the glass,

Looking in at frosted turrets with longing.

Suddenly,

Her fingertips tingled strangely as a snow globe grew warm in her hands.

A flutter of magic seemed to sweep through her at the strange sensation.

As her eyes slipped closed of their own accord,

The last thing Emily saw was a swirl of snow rising from the globe.

When she slowly blinked them open again,

The world had changed.

Emily was engulfed in the gently falling flakes she admired only moments before from outside the snow globe.

Gasping with delight,

She reached out a mitten to catch one and gasped again when a flake as wide as her hand landed delicately on her palm.

Emily peered up to find all around her stately pines bowed low under heaps of giant sparkling crystals.

An entire forest,

It seemed,

Now towered overhead,

Studded with snowflakes the size of an open book.

Emily spun about curiously through the drifts,

Piled high as her knees.

Where am I?

Emily wondered aloud,

Her voice muffled as it was swallowed up by the silent snowy woods.

All around her majestic evergreens arched their bows,

Laden with heavy snow.

The trees seemed to stretch endlessly in every direction,

Their bluish shadows casting a soothing glow over the sparkling drifts piled high on the forest floor.

As Emily crested a snowbank up ahead,

There at last,

In a wide clearing,

Stood a palace of ice all aglow against the deepening twilight,

Its turrets twisting high as treetops into the violet sky's first faint stars.

Light from its high arched windows streamed in welcome.

Overwhelmed with excitement and wonder,

Emily carefully descended the icy slope toward the glittering castle,

Eager to discover who or what might be inside.

Creeping forward,

Emily peeked through carved arched doors into a grand entry hall lined with slowly spinning snowflakes glistening and drifting down from high above.

As her eyes adjusted to the shimmering chamber,

She noticed a gathering of hushed figures clustered in the hall's center.

Her heart,

At first leaping in her chest,

Slowed to calm curiosity as she beheld rounded snow people of all sizes,

An ice polar bear with two snow cubs,

Rabbits,

And squirrels dusted in white powder that blended to diaphanous fur.

Welcome,

A snowman with coal eyes and widespread stick arms bowed graciously low before her.

He introduced himself as Mr.

Flurry and then eagerly presented Sir Frost,

The polar bear.

From there,

He introduced several young snowmen named Flurry Jr.

First,

Second,

And third.

He introduced father and daughter rabbits named Snowball and Sugarplum.

When introductions finished,

Mr.

Furry clapped his twig hands excitedly.

We're so happy you're here.

As Emily took in the dazzling icy palace and the assortment of magical snow creatures welcoming her,

A hundred questions bubbled up instantly.

But how did I get here?

And where exactly is here?

Mr.

Flurry chuckled warmly.

Why,

You're inside the snow globe,

Of course.

We watched you admiring the little kingdom we inhabit here,

And when your heart longed deeply enough,

The magic brought you in to truly join us.

The other creatures nodded and smiled.

This is the snow palace,

The center of our world,

Mr.

Flurry continued,

Gesturing around the glittering halls.

And we snowfolk dwell here together in seasonal cheer.

Emily's mind reeled with wonder and excitement,

An ecstatic grin spreading across her face as she thought about exploring this unbelievable world with her magical new friends,

A joyous celebration broke out among the snow people and animals,

Bringing Emily back to the present moment.

We're going to have the most wonderful adventures together,

Mr.

Flurry exclaimed.

The young snow rabbits hopped up and down,

Eager to show Emily their world.

They tucked her into a puffy powder blue coat,

Handed her skates spun of sparkling sugar plums,

And led their new friend on a maze of shimmering trails into the silent,

Pine-scented evening.

After a short walk,

They arrived at a clearing among the evergreens where a small fire and table stood.

On the table sat red and white striped mugs,

Steaming in the crisp evening.

Each mug was filled with hot cocoa,

Topped generously with marshmallow snowflakes.

Emily sipped her cocoa,

Tasting hints of candy cane,

Cinnamon,

And what seemed like glitter that dissolved into sparkles on her tongue.

At the end of the table,

The rabbits were busy building tiny marshmallow snowmen,

Which they hung on the evergreen branches like edible tree ornaments.

Barking playfully,

Sir Frost sent the baby cubs tumbling down snowbanks,

Their soft fur instantly camouflaging into the glittering drips.

Out came sleds,

Rainbow skates,

And skis adorned with jingle bells.

The world swirled with diamond flurries,

Dipping in and out of the moonlight.

Bicycles glimmered while the trees whispered silver secrets to the stars.

The northern auroras awoke again to dance across the sky in shimmers of violet,

Emerald,

And sapphire.

Later,

After hours of play and adventure,

With bellies warm and full of hot fudge brownie sundaes,

The friends retired to their rooms in the ice castle.

As she drifted off to sleep that night,

Emily felt the glittering winter wonderland weaving its magic into her dreams,

Its icy colors and sparkling magic embracing her as it whispered her name ever so softly on the night wind.

In the following weeks,

Emily grew closer and closer to the magical snow people who had warmly welcomed her.

She joined them in building snow forts,

Sipping hot chocolate after long days sledding and skating,

And telling stories around the fire on cozy winter nights.

They celebrated holidays with feasts and songs that made Emily laugh with delight.

Each snow person had a unique personality that complemented the group dynamic.

Silly,

Bouncy,

Flurry junior first tended to start snowball fights that wise Sir Frost ended with a hug.

Quiet little sugarplum made shy jokes that brought giggles once understood.

Mr.

Flurry insisted each day was spent outside and for as long as possible.

He tried earnestly to organize activities for the friend family,

But was outvoted by the cubs,

Squirrels,

And rabbits as they all had their own ideas and plans of what they should do.

He gave up in frustration,

But would soon join the youngsters made up games,

Eventually laughing and playing like a youngster himself.

As she sank into the comfort of belonging,

Emily realized she wanted nothing more than to stay in this beautiful winter bubble with those she now considered dear friends.

She felt safe,

Cherished,

And perfectly content,

And hoped the snow people also felt as lovingly about her presence in their world.

As weeks of wonder slipped by in the palace,

Emily found herself entwined even deeper in the bonds of family and magic.

Time in this realm seemed to flow like the gentle snow,

Each day blessing her with new discovery and joy.

And so it was on one crystalline morning that the snowfolk gathered close with smiles of adoration.

Mr.

Flurry's kind eyes shining as he spoke words Emily's soul had known were meant for her.

That in this kingdom of winter dreams,

She was their snow queen,

Beloved by all who called the glistening world home.

Blinking back tears of joy,

Emily beamed at the friends who had nestled into her heart,

Sealing her place with them for eternity in the ice diamond crown now gracing her brow.

Emily spent the next several months twirling and skating on ice,

Having snowball fights with friends by day,

Watching the auroras and playing tag in the moonlight by evening.

She was utterly content in this magical winter wonderland,

Or at least she thought she was.

One evening as the last luminous northern lights faded slowly from the glittering sky,

The wintry creatures led Emily back through pine-lined trails to the welcoming glow of the ice palace.

Shedding her borrowed finery before a roaring fire stoked by Sir Frost,

Emily sank into cushions of feather-soft snow.

In the flurry of magic since her arrival,

Thoughts of how she came here or whether she would return had barely drifted through her mind.

Staring into the crackling flames,

Emily pictured her family preparing hot drinks,

Her cozy bed piled with quilts,

And the streets outside slowly buried under softly falling snow.

A pang of loneliness caught her by surprise.

As Sir Frost dropped another log with a hiss and sizzle of sap,

Emily pictured her dad building their nightly fire at home,

Her cat Percy carling under the hearthstones.

Tears pricked suddenly behind her eyes.

As wondrous as this world was,

Could it ever truly feel like home when her real home called across the space between?

The snow people noticed Emily's quiet sadness and gathered close,

Attempting to lift her spirits as the flames warmed her toes.

But seeing the longing in her gaze as she lifted her chin toward the high windows,

Mr.

Flurry realized Emily felt conflicted.

Though she cherished this icy haven,

Her heart was still with the life she left behind when she entered the snow globe that now felt so long ago.

As Emily gazed longingly out of the towering icy windows,

A sparkling mist began swirling outside,

Followed by a gust of glitter that whooshed down the chimney in a sudden blaze of blue flame.

Emily leaped up with a startled cry as the fire burst forth a majestic snow wall,

Its wide amber eyes brimming with ancient wisdom.

The owl alighted on the mantle in a flurry of wings,

Settling its feathers.

It turned its white feathered head and regarded Emily silently for a moment.

When it finally spoke,

Its voice echoed mysteriously in her mind.

Many seasons ago,

I guarded the passage between worlds for another snow queen,

The owl said.

Now I've returned to guide the new snow queen.

He blinked once slowly.

Emily's mouth fell open,

But no words would come out.

Mr.

Flurry was the first to find his tongue.

Tell us,

Wise one,

He pleaded.

Does Emily wish to stay or go?

At this,

The snow owl swiveled his white feathered head toward the window.

The others followed his gaze when a shimmering bridge of ice crystals suddenly arched over the valley below.

Emily's breath caught.

The bridge led right to a portal opening into what was unmistakably her real world bedroom.

The owl explained,

As snow queen,

Emily now holds dominion here,

Yet I know her heart.

Therefore,

I unlock this dream bridge by which she may come and go between worlds at will.

Awake,

She reigns here.

Asleep,

She returns home,

Never to abandon one life for the other.

Gasps echoed around the hall.

Emily found tears sliding down her smiling cheeks.

It's magic,

She whispered.

I don't have to choose.

The bridge glittered as if winking in agreement.

Trembling with anticipation,

Emily followed Mr.

Flurry and the snow owl outside into the midnight blue forest.

The owl glided silently alongside them as they climbed shimmering steps to the top,

Where the span of ice crystals arched gracefully overhead before sloping down to meet the circle of Emily's bedroom window glowing in a warm golden light.

Turning back with sudden anxiety to glance at her friends,

Emily knew she would miss them every moment she was gone.

But Mr.

Flurry waved a cheerful twig hand,

And Sir Frost blinked his encouragement.

They would always be right here,

Waiting.

Taking a deep breath,

She stepped onto the bridge.

Smooth as glass beneath her slippers,

The ice began vibrating in a pleasing harmonic.

Each step lit her path ahead in ripples of soft aquamarine that eventually enveloped her completely.

Then,

Suddenly,

Mid-stride,

Emily was tumbling onto her own beloved purple quilt.

With delight,

She took in all of the familiar details.

Stacks of books,

Potted plants,

And the night light shaped like a crescent moon.

Her cat,

Percy,

Still sleeping on a sweater Emily had worn on that fateful day,

Blinked twice in slow surprise,

Then burst into purrs.

Emily cuddled him close,

Realizing tears of joy now spilled freely down her cheeks to think she could come and go from this sanctuary as she pleased.

What adventures tomorrow might bring with one foot in both worlds at last.

And tonight,

Tonight brought sweet dreams of home.

Over the following days and nights,

Emily developed a delightful rhythm of moving between spheres.

Awake,

She glided across the dream bridge to reign over sparkling ice forests under snowflake-studded skies,

Tending to her royal duties with the winter creatures she now considered family.

As purple dusks fell,

She retired to the grand four-poster bed within her icy palace turrets.

Emily discovered that falling asleep inside her royal ice palace chamber triggered the reappearance of the returned dream bridge back to her home world,

And that manifesting the glowing bridge was linked to the anchor point where she fell asleep at home.

Back at home,

Emily startled her earthly family by embracing them abruptly after school,

Or woke them up by clattering pans and fixing pancakes in the night.

During daylight hours,

She ransacked libraries for ancient texts on mythic legends,

Searching for clues on governing parallel kingdoms.

Curling up with purr-sealant cozy familiarity,

Over time,

Her worlds blurred beautifully.

When she mentioned magical creatures from the snow globe at dinner once,

Her parents chuckled affectionately,

Assuming their daughter's imagination was running wild.

But upon waking one morning to find exquisite ice lilies threaded through her hair,

They eyed her second life with new consideration.

Over days and nights of reigning as snow queen,

Emily studied mystical secrets kept by the ancient owl who first showed her the dream bridge.

Through curled parchment scripts and candlelit moonlight conversations on the icy balcony beneath the glittering sky,

The owl taught Emily how to twist time and space subtly so she might linger longer in either world without one fading.

Joy lit her heart from inside like the dancing northern lights now associated with her travels between realms.

She had found the best of everything worth cherishing in both of her homes.

A full moon beamed benevolently through Emily's bedroom skylight as she awoke from her snowy dream.

Bubbling excitedly,

She raced in purple slippered feet to rouse her slumbering parents and younger brother,

Intent on sharing the magic with them at last.

It's real,

You guys,

My glittering ice palace and the talking animals and the snow people,

All of it,

She exclaimed,

Breathlessly recounting adventures with Sir Frost the Polar Bear,

Mr.

Flurry the Snowman,

And her other forest friends.

Her family rubbed sleepy eyes,

Struggling to guess her vivid depictions of a fantasy life beyond belief.

But seeing new magic sparkling their daughter's gaze,

Her parents exchanged hopeful glances.

Perhaps another world had lit their daughter from within.

Emily grasped their hands tightly.

Tonight you can come and see for yourselves.

The owl told me we can cross together if I envision us traveling as one.

That evening,

She directed each family member to close their eyes while picturing her descriptions of shimmering spires and candy cane forests.

Now imagine stepping onto the crystal bridge in my dreams.

A harmonic hum quickly swelled,

Resonating beautifully.

When at last they dared peak,

All four found themselves transported across the gleaming ice span to behold the Snow Queen's kingdom in glittering splendor.

Welcome,

Dream travelers.

Mr.

Flurry swept low in a charming courtesy.

Emily's family gaped in awe,

Smiles spreading ear to ear at cuddly snow rabbits and the grand ice palace glowing in happy welcome.

Icicles chimed in the gentle breeze as if echoing the joyful laughter.

The snow people delighted in giving castle tours,

Serving feast platters of apple snow tarts,

And reinventing familiar snow games for their human guests.

Dance swirled late into the night until yawns prevailed.

As she drifted off,

Cradled in plush blankets of powdered sugar snow,

Emily sighed happily,

Grateful beyond measure to finally bridge these cherished worlds.

As twilight veils slowly lifted outside Emily's frosted bedroom window,

She awoke to find her family still slumbering deeply under mounds of goosed-down snowflakes in the guest wing.

Rousing themselves reluctantly,

They thanked Mr.

Flurry profusely for the hospitality before carefully going across the crystalline dream bridge,

Already glittering under the first rays of arctic sunlight.

Once home,

Emily's family bubbled enthusiastically with all they had witnessed in the extraordinary night travels across their daughter's dreams.

Her little brother asked if they might decorate his room to mimic the ice castle,

Where her parents pledged the fullest support of their beloved daughter,

Finding purpose in an unbelievable fantasy realm somehow come to life.

You have grown into a fine leader there,

Snow Queen,

Her father chuckled with pride at the royal title.

I see you have surrounded yourself with noble friends,

My dear.

Rule wisely.

He winked at mentions of Sir Frost and Mr.

Flurry.

Emily beamed grateful beyond measure for her family's ringing endorsement of her unofficial queenship in the snow globe sphere.

They promised they would visit her again and again.

In fact,

It would be almost like gaining a vacation home in the auroras.

As the days passed,

Emily continued happily splitting time between her twin worlds,

Studying algebra by day and presiding as Snow Queen over her glittering ice kingdom by night.

With each moonlit journey across the crystal dream bridge,

She reunited joyfully with her magical friends until dawn's rosy return.

One evening,

As Emily gazed at her family laughing together over hot cocoa back in her home sphere,

She was overwhelmed by a profound sense of peace and boundless love for both worlds she now called her own.

Seeing joy shining from her loved one's faces,

She understood the most potent magic had been there all along.

It was the magic of belief and dreams that allowed the bridge between two worlds so all she cherished could unite as one.

Emily gazed contentedly at the snow globe on her shelf,

Swirling the fake snow within.

Through its frosty panes,

The glimmering ice palace and candy cane forest came into focus once more.

She smiled,

Knowing this wintry world would always await in her dreams,

A secret magical haven to return to wherever life may lead.

All made possible by a curious girl and the magical snow globe that gifted her the most extraordinary gift,

Love without end.

The end.

That's all for this evening,

Dear one.

Sweet dreams.
