Welcome to tonight's sleep story.
I'm Lisa and I'll be tucking you in this evening.
Our story is called The Girl Who Bottled Wishes.
Before we get started though,
Let's get comfortable.
So take a moment to relax,
Fix your pillows,
Maybe pull up your covers,
And make sure everything is just right.
If you need to,
Adjust the volume on whatever you're listening to this from.
Shut off your lights,
Take a nice deep breath in,
Ah,
And just let it all out.
Your day is over.
Close your eyes and let's begin.
Let me welcome you to the whimsical tale of Anna,
A girl who found she had the power to gather hopes and dreams from her friends and store them in jars for granting another day.
You see,
Anna had always been enchanted by the idea of bottled wishes.
Even as a young child,
She loved gazing at fireflies blinking in the dusk and pretending their lights were tiny wishes fluttering about.
She would gently blow dandelion puffs into the air,
Imagining the seeds spiraling away with secret hopes caught inside of their delicate filaments.
Anna's painter father taught her how to see the world as a kaleidoscope of shapes and colors.
She grew to appreciate the rainbow spectrum of glass,
Glowing ruby red,
Sun-dappled sea green,
And icy azure blue.
One day,
While helping her mother in the kitchen,
Anna became transfixed watching beams of sunlight filter through the glass jars on the shelves like the vessels were magical prisms.
Soon she started collecting bottles and jars from around the house and yard to create a unique collection.
In her room,
She would display them on strings hanging in her window where they could catch the changing light.
She loved gazing into each vessel and imagining what wishes it might hold.
Shaking them gently,
She was certain she could hear the tinkling echoes of dreams waiting to be freed.
At night,
Anna would trace the stars from her skylight and wonder if they weren't ancient wishes that had long ago escaped from their glass prisms.
She started to believe that if she could capture just the right wish in just the right bottle,
Maybe all of her own dreams could also take flight into the moon-soaked sky.
The Wishing Jars The next morning,
Off to work,
Anna went.
She decided the first step to bottling wishes was gathering an array of special jars.
She set out to find a wide spectrum of shapes,
Colors,
And sizes to start her collection.
In the pantry,
She found dusty mason jars with rustic metal lids,
Perfect for catching earthy wishes whispered while walking barefoot in the garden.
From the recycling bin,
She reused bubbly soda bottles whose distorted green glass could amplify growth wishes for plants and pets.
In her mother's craft cabinet,
She discovered a bag of tiny spice bottles that would be just perfect for bottling small secret wishes.
Up in the attic,
An old crate hid away time-worn apothecary jars with labels faded by the sun.
Anna imagined these could hold wishes sent back to the past.
She even tucked a few canning jars into her pile,
Thinking their sterile emptiness would be perfect for brand new wishes to be dreamed up.
Outside,
Anna searched for more vessels.
In the wilting wildflower patch,
She uncovered a blue glass bottle peeking out of the grass.
She thought it could hold wishes filtered through screens of forget-me-nots and lilacs.
Along the rocky creek bed,
She gathered sturdy river stones she would paint scenes of tranquil waters onto.
These stone vessels could give form to wandering wishes.
As dusk fell,
Fireflies began to gather in the yard.
Anna gently coaxed them into her cupped hands.
As their yellow glow illuminated her palms,
She wished her wish to understand their flickering language before releasing them once more into the evening skies.
Back in her room,
Anna lined up her assembled bottles on every surface.
The multicolored glass glimmered in the moonlight streaming through the window.
She lovingly examined each vessel,
Imagining the wishes it might hold one day.
For now,
The jars were empty and waiting,
But soon she would breathe life into them by capturing her most heartfelt hopes.
Perfecting the Process Now that Anna had gathered an array of wishing vessels,
It was time to perfect the process of trapping wishes inside them.
She decided to experiment with different methods to find what worked best.
First,
Anna tried capturing wispy dandelion puffs in the jars,
Sealing in their airy seeds before they could fly away on the breeze.
She set these aside,
Hoping the tufts would whisper their scatter some wishes against the glass.
Next,
Anna left jars outside overnight to collect the shimmering dewdrops that gathered under the moon's glow.
In the morning,
She quickly kept them,
Believing the water droplets might hold nighttime forest whispers.
Another night,
She placed a jar on the creek to let it fill with rushing water.
She imagined the currents carrying wishes from faraway lands into her jar.
After sealing it up,
She eagerly put her ear to it and listened for echoes of adventure.
Turning to artsier approaches,
Anna painted some jars with swirling night skies to inspire cosmic wishes.
She decorated others with colorful polka dots,
Thinking the cheerfulness might attract playful wishes.
Her favorite was painting luminescent moons and stars on the glass to echo the enchanting twilight sky.
When fireflies returned to the backyard one evening,
Anna tried gently maneuvering them into her jars before capping them loosely.
She hoped some of their winking light magic would illuminate the wishes within,
But the insects only grew distressed,
So she quickly let them go.
Soon after,
Anna had another idea.
She turned to catching the flickering trails the fireflies left in her vision after she looked away.
These glowing afterimages seemed to hold the essence of their light.
After capturing the trails,
Anna skillfully spun her jars to seal in the shimmering imprints.
As Anna kept experimenting,
She realized there was no one right way to bottle wishes.
Some methods yielded bubbles,
Others art,
And some filled with nature's whispers.
Each unique vessel and approach shaped the magic inside.
With careful creativity,
She could capture any wish that came to her in luminous glass form.
The first wish.
Anna sat cross-legged on her bedroom floor,
Surrounded by her bottles and jars in a rainbow of shapes and sizes and colors.
She had spent weeks gathering and preparing these special vessels to capture wishes.
Now it was time for the true test.
To make her very first wish and bottle it.
Closing her eyes,
Anna focused inward,
Trying to sense what her heart most longed for.
She thought of secret dreams and impossible things.
But reaching out blindly for any fanciful wish just didn't feel right.
It had to come naturally,
Whispering its presence to be noticed.
Anna remained patient,
Keeping her hopes close to her heart.
The full moon rose outside her window,
Bathing the room in soft light.
It was then that the answer became clear.
Anna wanted to fly.
To float as lightly and freely as the moonbeams dancing across her walls.
Taking a deep breath,
Anna made her silent wish,
Filling it with details.
She envisioned soaring above the clouds,
The world so tiny below.
She imagined pirouetting gracefully through the air and floating as gently as a feather.
In her mind,
Anna bottled up this wish,
Picturing an intricate glass jar with dragonfly wings sealing in the anticipation.
A tingle of excitement ran down her spine as she felt the wish wanted to get to work already.
Opening her eyes,
Anna knew just the jar to contain this flight of fancy.
She reached for a rounded bottle covered in metallic blue and green with beetle wings that she had found discarded in the woods.
Uncorking it,
She whispered her wish into the vessel three times,
Sealing it in.
Warm energy traveled up through her fingertips.
After placing the jar on her nightstand,
Anna crawled into bed.
The full moon's reflection on the iridescent bottle wings seemed to make them flutter.
As she drifted off with images of soaring through the starry sky,
Anna wondered if her bottled wish might somehow take flight by morning.
Tomorrow would tell if the magic had truly worked.
Wishing takes flight.
The next morning,
Anna awoke feeling strangely light.
A tickling sensation on her arms made her gasp as she realized her feet were hovering several inches in the air above her bed.
Anna laughed with astonished delight as she tumbled gently through her room.
She realized her bottled wish had been granted,
At least for today.
She would revel in the magic while it lasted.
All morning,
Anna drifted around the house,
Lightly pushing off walls and furniture to maneuver her airy flight.
She hopped down the stairs,
One foot at a time,
Landing with a soft plie at the bottom.
In the yard,
She discovered she could soar high into the treetops,
Then spiral slowly back down,
Landing as lightly as a leaf.
She tumbled around weightlessly.
Anna laughed with joy.
She also realized she could now grant wishes for others,
Too,
Sharing the magic.
At school,
She told her best friend Lucy about her newfound power over a picnic beneath a willow tree.
Lucy confessed her wish to be able to shrink down as small as a ladybug.
That night,
Anna carefully bottled the wish in a tiny little spice jar,
And the next day,
Tiny Lucy went on adventures under mushrooms in the schoolyard.
Soon,
Friends were lining up with wishes for Anna to bottle.
Emma wanted to have the voice of a river,
So Anna filled a twisted blue jar with water from the stream.
Chris wished to bubble with laughter,
So his wish was sealed in a frothing soda bottle.
One by one,
Anna crafted unique vessels to hold her friend's innermost desires.
A delicate purple jar wished bravery onto shy Nia.
A jet black bottle gave Jacob the shadowy stealth of a panther.
The wishes manifested joyfully,
But only ever for a day before returning to their glass homes.
When her brother Theo grew sad,
Anna knew just what to do.
She painted a smiling yellow jar in sunshine colors.
His wish to soar as high as the birds emerged in frantic flapping arms,
But Anna just smiled and told him to envision soaring like a plane.
Soon,
Theo was zipping happily around,
Arms stretched out like wings.
Though the magic was powerful,
Anna learned that she had to craft each wish carefully to avoid twisted or selfish outcomes.
Most wishes,
Though,
Reflected simple dreams that brought joy,
Creativity,
And confidence to her friends.
At night,
Lying beneath her shimmering display of wish-filled jars,
Anna would watch their radiance cast shifting colors on her walls.
Each seemed to breathe with the spirit of its wish,
Waiting patiently to be called forth again when needed.
Anna fell asleep dreaming of all the wonders she might yet conjure.
The Wishing Workshop The next day,
Anna decided her growing collection of luminous wish-filled jars needed a permanent home,
So she transformed her closet into a magical wishing workshop.
Using glow-in-the-dark paint,
She created a dazzling night sky mural on the walls and ceiling,
With shimmering constellations and a bright full moon.
Plenty of room was left to add new celestial objects as her wish collection expanded.
Shelves were installed to neatly display the myriad bottles and jars organized by color in a rainbow spectrum.
During the day,
Sunlight streaming in made them sparkle like cut gems.
At night,
They emitted a soft glow from within,
Little glass lanterns protecting the wishes inside.
A work table was brought in,
Loaded with supplies for crafting wishing vessels.
There were shelves of paint,
Glitter glue,
Ribbons,
Beads,
All to decorate the plain glass.
Magnifying glasses,
Funnels,
And bottles of ribbon and feathers could help transfer the wishes into the jars.
Comfy beanbag chairs offered places for Anna and her friends to sit while bottling wishes.
A dictionary of symbols,
Dream meanings,
And constellations provided inspiration for wish crafting.
Gentle chimes hung from the ceiling,
Tinkling when anyone entered the magical room.
During lunch breaks,
Anna would take a wishing buddy into the closet,
And they would first select a special jar to use for their wish.
Then Anna would guide them through focusing inward on their true desire before capturing and securing it in the vessel.
At night,
The wishing closet became a glowing cavern of possibility.
Bathed in moonlight and warm radiance of the glass jars,
It felt utterly removed from the real world.
Lying on plush cushions,
Staring up at the dazzling painted sky ceiling,
Anna would let her mind wander,
Dreaming up new wonders she might yet create.
The wishing workshop quickly became a sanctuary for Anna and her friends.
Within its glittering walls,
Their imaginations could journey anywhere.
As long as there were wishes to be bottled,
The magic would never run out.
A special visitor.
One evening while in her wishing workshop crafting a new vessel,
Anna heard a soft knock at the closet door.
Surprised,
She opened it to find a tall gentleman with kind eyes and salt and pepper hair standing there.
Excuse me,
I couldn't help but to notice your collection of bottled wishes,
He said,
Gesturing at the shelves,
Full of glittering jars.
May I come in for a closer look?
Anna nodded curiously and let him inside.
As the man studied the jars,
He murmured approvingly at her unique captured wishes.
Remarkable,
Remarkable,
I can see these vessels have brought joy to many,
He said.
Who are you?
Anna finally asked.
Ah,
Apologies,
I am the wish collector,
He proclaimed with a slight bow,
And went on to explain that he travelled the world gathering bottled desires to archive in his museum.
Those with magic in their craft,
Like Anna,
He sought out as apprentices.
Anna's eyes lit up at meeting a fellow wish bottler.
Eagerly she demonstrated her techniques,
Showing how she selected vessels and guided the wish infusion process.
The wish collector watched closely,
Clearly impressed.
My dear,
Your skills are incredible,
Even at such a young age,
He marveled.
Your workshop is truly inspired.
Would you like to see my archive and become my apprentice?
Anna was torn.
She loved her wishing workshop and the joy it brought her friends,
But the chance to refine her abilities alongside the expert wish collector was truly a dream.
Sensing her hesitation,
He gently said,
Keep doing what brings you happiness,
But should you ever desire wisdom from an old master,
You know how to reach me.
He handed her a card with a compass emblem.
Just hold this to your heart and make a wish to find me,
He said with a smile.
Then with a swish of his cloak,
The mysterious man disappeared as suddenly as he had arrived.
Anna sat pondering the strange encounter as the soft moonlight illuminated her jars.
She tucked the card away knowing that when the time was right,
Her path would reveal itself,
Like a wish waiting to be freed.
Wish Apprentice A few weeks after the wish collector's unexpected visit,
Anna realized she was ready for the next chapter of her journey.
She would miss her wishing workshop but knew it was time to learn from a true master.
Anna held the compass emblem to her heart and wished to be led to the wish collector's archive.
When she opened her eyes,
She stood before a lovely Victorian mansion covered in vines.
The wish collector greeted her at the entryway.
Welcome my apprentice,
Let us begin your training at once.
He led her inside to a vast hall filled with shelf after shelf of glowing wish jars.
My life's work,
He said gesturing proudly.
He showed Anna his techniques for bottling life force within objects.
A bird song went into a glass birdcage,
A shout into a voice recorder.
The collector had even trapped sunlight,
Raindrops,
And rainbows.
Anna added her own artistic touches,
Weaving,
Singing wind chimes,
And crafting mini terrariums holding plant life essence.
The collector was delighted at her ideas and creativeness.
Together they worked seamlessly,
Two masters united in purpose.
The collector taught her words in ancient languages to grant wishes power,
Gesturing their symbols in the air as he said them.
Anna practiced drawing the symbols on jars to focus intention.
At day's end,
He showed Anna to a tranquil greenhouse bedroom.
Exhausted but inspired,
She fell asleep among fireflies in delicate glass orbs that lulled her with their pulsing glow.
So began a blissful time of learning and creation.
Each day Anna's skills grew and she and the collector bottled up the world's beauty in new ways.
Her inner light felt kindled like a wish taking flight,
But again Anna felt it in her heart when her time to move on approached.
You have given me a gift beyond measure,
She told the collector.
Now I must share it with others.
Though sad,
The collector understood.
The future is yours,
Dear wish maker,
But never hesitate to visit this old soul.
With a jolly laugh,
He sent her on her way back to her own world,
Forever changed.
Happy wishing.
Arriving home,
Anna was thrilled to reopen her wishing workshop,
Infused now with the collector's teachings.
While away,
She realized how much joy the simple act of wish crafting brought her and her friends.
Now she could share new skills to increase the magic for all.
Anna expanded the workshop,
Adding alcoves for wish-making stations.
One was filled with art supplies,
One with nature elements like feathers and leaves.
Mirrors amplified reflected light rays for catching,
And Anna instructed her friends in visualization techniques while crafting wishes.
Together they added paintings,
Mosaics,
And sculptures to the celestial mural,
Making it a collaborative work of art.
The chamber became their sanctuary,
A tiny world limited only by imagination.
During late-night wishing sessions,
Anna would demonstrate advanced methods she learned from the collector.
Using his ancient words,
She could magnify or shrink wishes,
Or send the light of one into another like connecting stars.
Her own wish-conjuring took on greater depth and purpose.
She learned to sense wishes as living entities waiting for her unique touch,
And her creations glowed even brighter with magic and possibility.
Word spread,
And children from all over came to craft wishes in Anna's workshop.
Their joy at learning the art of wish infusion was a wonder to behold.
Soon children made wishes just to give them away.
Jars labeled laughter,
Confidence,
And kindness made their way around the neighborhood,
Spreading light.
The workshop outgrew Anna's closet and moved to a little cottage.
There,
Anna lived happily surrounded by shelves of shimmering glass jars,
Each containing a piece of someone's inner world.
Visitors continued arriving,
Seeking haven for their hopes and her wisdom.
And if you saw an odd gentleman in a top hat strolling by one day,
You may just glimpse Anna leading him smiling into her magic cottage for tea.
For master and apprentice remain the closest of friends,
Bound by the ancient art of wish-crafting.
The end.
That's all for this evening,
Dear one.
Sweet dreams.
