Once upon a time there was a girl.

Her name was Brooke and she loved stories.

She especially loved fairy tales.

Oh,

I think she's there now looking at her books.

Books.

So many books.

So many fairy tales.

Oh,

I love a fairy tale.

Stories of towers,

Princes,

Princesses.

Must have been daydreaming.

Oh,

The enchanted castle.

Beautiful.

Beauty and the Beast.

What a lovely book.

Gorgeous roses on the front cover.

What's that at the top?

An enchanted beast.

The snow queen.

The princess and the pea.

Oh,

What's this?

Puss in Boots.

Puss in Boots.

These classic stories have been combined with beautiful new illustrations to bring the magic of story tales to life.

Puss in Boots.

Oh,

What a sweet little cat.

Brooke.

Brooke.

Was that somebody calling me?

No.

Well,

There was a miller.

My parser miller.

Had three sons.

And Brooke.

One got the mill and one got a donkey and one got a cat.

Oh,

How sweet.

Brooke.

A magic cat.

Oh,

What a silly fairy tale this is.

Magic cats.

Brooke.

Now,

I keep hearing my name being called.

Brooke.

Oh,

Hello adventure tellers.

Was that you calling me?

You and Hannah.

Hi Hannah.

I'm here reading fairy tales.

I love fairy tales.

Stories of princes and princesses.

Towers of beanstalks.

Giants and owls.

Princesses that fall asleep for a really long time.

Little red riding hoods skipping into the woods.

Tales of poor people like Cinderella who meets her prince and comes rich.

I live with my papa.

He's a miller.

It's just the two of us.

We don't earn much money.

I'm sure there's more to life than this.

It's the fairy tales.

The fairy tales that teach me.

Teach me that there is riches to be had and ventures.

Giants to be defeated.

Men to be charmed.

Just found this book.

Puss in Boots.

A magical cat.

Oh,

What would I do if I was a magical cat?

Meow.

I'm Puss in Boots.

Phew.

And the first thing that I will do is I will entertain all the people in the village and they will give me money because they'll be so surprised that there is not only a talking cat,

Meow,

But a dancing cat.

Yes.

And then I will swim out and get lots of fish so we'll never ever be hungry.

Yes.

Oh,

Wouldn't it be amazing to be Puss in Boots?

Oh,

Sorry.

I started dreaming that I was Puss in Boots.

I do really wish that there was some sort of fairy tale in my life.

It's so boring here.

The only entertainment is Papa and he gets laughed at all the time.

My father has great ideas.

Great ideas of new ways of milling.

They all think he's mad.

He's got a great idea and he says he's going to go across to the next village and speak to a man there about an idea he's got.

Yeah.

A great idea about how to make wood chop.

Yeah.

Without having to pick up your very own axe.

Oh,

I know.

He'll be going soon.

I should probably go back home,

Make sure he's got something to eat.

But first I want to count all the books that I've got that I'm going from the library.

OK,

Will you count with me?

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Six,

Eight,

Nine,

Ten.

Oh,

Heavy.

Eleven,

Twelve,

Twelve,

Thirteen,

Fourteen,

Fifteen.

Fifteen books.

Fifteen books to take home.

They won't be that heavy.

I haven't got far to go.

Maybe I'll just stick with the one.

Oh,

Are you OK there,

Brooke?

Let's go and see.

Brooke's papa think he's getting ready to go on a journey.

Hello there,

Adventure tellers.

I am Brooke's papa,

The miller,

But also the great inventor.

Well,

Maybe not great yet.

It's just that nobody's discovered me yet.

Isn't that right,

Blossom?

Oh,

Blossom,

My faithful,

Faithful horse.

She will be taking me through to the town where I'm going to be selling my latest and greatest invention.

Yes,

I have made a very unique and splendid wood chopping machine.

That's right.

It will save all those wood cutters,

All those long,

Hard nights.

So I'm up to see a man from the wood cutting society.

Yes,

Yes.

I think his name is called Chip.

That's right.

Yes.

I'm up to see Chip from the wood cutting society about my wood cutting machine.

And if he takes it and he gives me good money for it,

Brooke and I,

Brooke and I can move from this little village and move to a nice house in that town.

I really better get going.

She said she wouldn't be long at the bookshop.

You see,

I need to mount the horse and head off into the deep dark wood.

Yes,

Very unfortunate business having to go through a deep dark wood.

And you see,

It's just,

It's quicker to go through the deep dark wood than it is to go round it.

Yes.

So if I go round it,

I go around and about lovely sunny corner.

It's a lovely name for a pavement and up and down meadow mountains.

Yes.

But you see,

If I go through the wood,

The spooky wood where it's got shallow hollow and what else?

Hollow grave.

Yes.

Yes.

And wacky wolves.

Yes.

Oh,

Are you okay Blossom?

Oh,

You seem to be trembling.

Oh,

It's all right.

Don't worry about it.

Come on.

Let's get on.

Right.

Papa.

Oh,

Wait a minute.

That must be Brooke.

Papa.

Is that you are?

Oh,

It is.

That's me.

Me and Blossom off.

Oh,

Good luck Papa.

Before you go,

Can I have a kiss?

Oh,

Of course you can.

Papa,

You have to be back by tomorrow morning.

Otherwise,

I will send myself.

Unfortunately,

There's nobody else I can send.

I will send myself to come and find you.

Okay.

Okay.

One last kiss.

Bye bye.

Take good care of him Blossom.

Hope he gets good money for that chopping machine.

Mind you,

I'm really good at chopping.

Do you want to see?

Stand back.

Hi-ya.

Hi-ya.

Chop.

Ready?

Hi-ya.

Not higher.

Or higher.

Hi-ya.

Oh,

All that excitement.

I think I should go to bed and take my lovely new fairy tale book to bed with me.

That will speed up the hours and then by tomorrow morning,

Papa will be back.

Yes,

I'm sure of it.

So Brooke's Papa went off on his horse Blossom on his long journey.

Oh,

I hope it all goes smoothly for him.

That's it Blossom.

Keep travelling.

Keep clocking along.

Keep clobbering clob.

Come on.

We can't be far.

Don't understand why we're not there yet.

We've gone through the sleepy hollow.

We've gone through well and well.

What a load of cobbler's that is.

It's getting windy now,

Isn't it Blossom?

Oh Blossom,

I am going to get a bit worried.

We should have been at the town by now.

Mr.

Chip's probably gone.

Oh.

I can hear the wind.

What's wrong Blossom?

You're spooked.

Do you think it's a wolf?

Not the wind.

Oh,

Hello there.

Oh,

A lost man on his horse.

Oh,

We're not lost.

We're very near the town we need to be in.

Oh,

Is that right?

I've been stalking you for the last half an hour waiting for you to get bitterly cold so that I can gobble you up.

Because you won't want to go any further.

You're so cold.

Oh Blossom,

We're going to get eaten by that wolf.

Oh yes,

And my little wolf cubs are so hungry.

Oh no.

Quick,

Come on Blossom.

Gallop,

Gallop,

Gallop.

Look,

There's a castle.

Oh,

I wouldn't go to that castle if I were you.

Oh,

There's a beast that lives in there.

Yes,

You can either get eaten by the beast or you can get eaten by me.

What's that?

My hearing's not too good now that I'm a bit older.

Did you say there's a feast up at the castle?

Oh,

Great.

Come on Blossom.

Quick,

Quick,

Gallop,

Gallop.

Gallop to that castle before the wolf gets us.

Gallop,

Gallop,

Gallop.

Oh,

Silly old man.

I never said a feast.

I said beast.

Beast,

Beast.

Do leave.

Oh,

Do leave a little bit of the old man and his horse for me and my cubs,

Won't you?

Oh.

Look,

Papa has gone inside the castle and is having a look around.

Can you see anything in there?

Well,

Children,

I have been all around this castle.

I have looked in every single room,

West Wing,

North Wing,

South Wing,

East Wing,

And I have not seen anybody.

What I have seen is darkened curtains,

Ripped paintings of portraits.

I've seen all sorts of misery in this castle and no luscious feast,

Like the wolf said.

What's that,

Children?

Feast?

Yes,

Feast.

A midnight feast.

It's so late now.

Oh,

Feast.

Oh,

You do make me laugh.

You must be cold and tired too from that travelling and you're just making up things in your head.

Because you're deliriously tired and deliriously hungry.

What's that?

Beast?

Beast?

You mean I've got my beast and feast mixed up.

My bub and my fuh.

Fuh fuh feast.

A bub for beast.

Ha ha ha.

Beast.

Yes,

Beast.

Oh my goodness,

A beast.

Oh,

And now Brooke.

Oh,

She's coming to find her Papa.

Oh,

Hello children.

You took your time,

Didn't you?

You almost took as long as Papa has taken and he still hasn't turned up.

He said he would be back days ago and he never came home.

Even Chip,

The man who wanted to buy his hiya wood chopping machine,

He came to see me to say Papa never turned up.

Something has happened to Papa in that wood.

Nobody will go in.

They're all scaredy cats and I,

Because I love my Papa so much,

I am going into the woods and I'll find him.

So come on,

Walk with me.

Yes,

You're not staying here,

Nor are you Hannah.

You're coming with.

I need a grown up.

Right,

Into the woods.

Oh,

It really is dark in here.

I think I can see faces on those trees.

Oh,

And bats swooping above my head.

Oh,

And spiders and earwigs and all sorts of things on the dirt track below.

Just keep going.

Keep going.

Keep going.

Keep centered.

Keep mindful.

Keep mindful.

Focus on the breath.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Now.

Oh,

No,

It's no use.

Okay.

All right.

Think happy,

Lovely thoughts.

Oh,

Lovely butterflies.

Butterflies fluttering above my head.

Butterflies.

Oh,

Bats.

Bats swooping above my head.

Oh,

Pa.

Pa,

Where are you?

Come on,

Children.

Keep going.

Let's keep going.

Let's keep going.

Oh,

Oh,

Papa.

Sure,

I heard something there.

It's not my echo.

Oh,

I hear it.

Papa,

Is that you?

No,

That's not Pa.

That's a wolf.

Run.

Run.

Run.

I think it's behind me.

Run,

Run,

Run,

Run.

Oh,

Look.

Go to that castle.

Yes,

That castle.

Run,

Run,

Run.

Never seen this castle ever before.

And it's not in any map.

Run.

Run to it.

Quick.

Slam the gate.

Wolf or a wolf.

Hello.

Is anybody here?

Gosh,

Adventure tellers.

It's dark.

It's damp and smelly.

Oh,

These paintings.

These paintings of the person who must live here or was living here.

There's a rip through it.

As if it's purposely been vandalized.

Somebody's come in here and taken over the family that lived here once.

Oh,

Hello.

Is anybody here?

Is everything OK?

What was that sound?

It's a roar.

Ah,

You pointed my face,

Don't you?

Yes,

I am the beast.

And you are in my castle,

Which means now you will take the place of your father.

He said you would be coming for him.

And sure enough,

You are here.

You're free to go now,

Old man.

And your daughter is to take your place.

You are my permanent guest.

Off you go,

Old man.

My carriage will see to it that you go straight home and are never to return.

Ah,

Brooke.

Let me show you to where you will be staying for the foreseeable future.

The beast has locked Brooke in a room in his palace.

But children,

I think there's something that he'd like to tell us.

So I think we should give him a chance and hear him out.

Children,

Adventure tellers,

I am a real prince.

Underneath this beast of a face,

I'm actually a prince.

A rather rude,

Selfish,

Obnoxious,

Stubborn,

Spoiled prince.

But I'm not that anymore.

I'm sorry.

You think I am?

What do you mean?

Well,

I get your point,

I suppose.

Locking Brooke in a room,

Forbidding her to have anything nice to eat this evening,

Sending her father away,

And she's never able to see him again.

Yeah,

Okay.

Okay.

All right.

I'll be nicer.

And maybe,

Just maybe,

With your help,

Adventure tellers,

She'll fall in love with me before the last petal on this rose falls.

You see,

This rose holds the spell,

This enchantment that I've been under by that witch of a woman.

Yes,

I wouldn't give her a place to stay.

On a cold night,

She came knocking,

And it turned out that this woman was actually a witch,

And she'd been sent to test me.

And she did.

She found out that I am stubborn,

As everyone had said.

I am cruel,

I am mean.

But if I can get a princess or a fair maiden to fall in love with me before the last petal is to drop,

Then I will be a prince again,

And I will be kind,

Courteous,

Considerate.

Children,

Can you teach me that?

You can?

All right.

Okay.

What's the first thing I need to do?

Okay.

Stop roaring.

Okay.

All right.

Go and take Brooke out of her room.

Okay.

Sure.

Tell her that she can see her father one more time.

Okay.

But first of all,

What?

Take her to the library.

Take her into the garden.

Give her something nice to eat.

Okay.

Okay.

Okay.

Show her your kind side.

Is that my kind side?

Is this my kind side?

Oh,

It's inside.

Okay.

Let's do this.

For I fear we are running out of time.

That's it,

Brooke.

Follow this.

Follow the beautiful gold petals that I am dropping onto the floor.

Yes,

Follow them.

I've told Brooke she can come out of her room,

But only if she follows the gold petals.

Yes,

She's a little bit behind.

I'm further up front,

For I'm leading her to the library,

Because I hear she loves books.

That's it.

Keep going,

Brooke.

Follow the gold petals.

Come this way.

Come this way.

That's it.

Keep going.

Keep going.

Oh,

I'm coming.

I'm coming,

Beast.

He's told me to follow these gold petals.

He's taking me somewhere.

Under all that hair and horns and terrifying teeth,

I actually think he's quite lovely.

I'm coming.

I wonder where we're going.

I feel quite safe.

I think I could really like the Beast.

I'm coming.

Wow.

Hundreds.

No.

Thousands.

No.

Millions.

Millions and millions of books.

Oh,

Beast,

You've just walked me straight into heaven.

You know,

It will take me a lifetime just to read the name of each of these books down the side of its binding,

Let alone reading them.

Oh,

Wow.

Ah,

I can see that Brooke is enjoying the library.

She'll have a rip-roaring read through all those books.

She should keep her occupied,

Missing her beloved Pa.

Then she'll follow the rest of these golden petals that I am leaving around the castle for her to follow,

Leads her into the treasure room,

The dining room,

The fashion room,

The cinema,

The theatre,

The pool,

The tennis courts,

The croquet lawn.

And then the last petal will bring her to me.

And from there,

After the delights she has seen,

She has my word that she can go and see her father.

And this,

This her departure will break my heart and I will surely die.

For I do not wish to be a Beast forever.

For when she is gone,

I fear the last petal will fall and that will keep me as a Beast forever.

And then the loss of losing Brooke will break my heart into a thousand pieces and I will surely die.

Oh,

Hold on,

There's another trail of golden petals.

I better follow those.

I don't want to disappoint the Beast.

Wow,

Event tellers,

I've been all around the castle and it is beautiful.

I have enough books here to keep me quite happy.

But I do miss my papa.

The Beast has given me his blessing that I can go and see pa on the promise that I will return,

Which I will,

I promise you Beast.

For all this time we've spent together,

You know,

I really do like being here with you.

See you soon Beast.

So Brooke returns to see her papa.

Oh,

He looks so happy together.

Oh,

It's been so lovely to see you pa.

Even see a bit of your hair's growing back.

Oh,

Not having the stress of me running around anymore.

Oh,

I know,

But I promised the Beast I have to come back.

It's been well over a month.

I said it would only really be a few days.

Oh,

I'm dying of a broken heart.

There's only one petal left.

Oh,

Imagine if that was to fall off right this second.

Oh,

It's come off.

I'm dying.

Um,

Beast,

That petal didn't fall.

You just pushed it off.

I didn't push the petal off.

It fell off.

Yes you did.

I just saw you.

How very dare you Hannah to say that I pushed it off with my hand.

I didn't.

It fell off.

You did.

You pushed it off.

Alright,

So it might have had a little bit of help.

Well,

I'm missing Brooke and I thought I would speed it up and get her here quicker if I just gave it a little bit of a help.

Anyway,

I'm meant to be dying.

You get on with your narrating and I'll get on with my pretend not feeling very well dying.

I love you Brooke.

Come on children,

Let's go and tell Brooke that the Beast is dying without her love.

What's that,

Children?

He's not feeling well.

He's dying and he wants.

.

.

He what?

He's told you to tell me that he loves me.

I feel it too.

I love him too.

Beast,

I love you.

I'm heading back now.

Please,

Don't die.

Oh children,

I'm too late.

The Beast is dead.

Beast,

I meant it when I shouted it from Papa's house.

I love you.

You're a prince.

You're all highness.

I would love to take your hand in marriage.

Thank you.

Brooke saved the prince.

He is no longer a beast anymore.

Well done everybody.

That is the story of Beauty and the Beast.

We'll see you next time.

Bye.
