Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott and I was just on a walk in a little bit of a rural country area and these lovely little pigs,

You can probably hear them,

Have run up to the gate to say hello.

I think they're probably looking for a bit of food.

They're quite small and they look oh they look so beautiful with their noses and their black wiry hair,

Big ears,

But they're quite small off the ground.

They're probably maybe two foot something like that,

So quite small pigs and it's so great when animals are tame enough to come and say hello.

I think it's always such a gift to see animals up close.

So this is a real lovely surprise and today's five minutes in nature is a reflection really on something I heard at a talk recently.

I was listening to a talk and what the speaker was teaching or talking about really landed for me and it's one of the reflections I've been having ever since and I thought I'd like to share it with you and maybe get your reflections on it as well.

It really looks at the two prime emotions in life,

The two prime feelings,

The feelings that we have at the basis of everything and those two feelings are love and fear and the speaker was talking very much about the power of living from the place of love and what happens when rather than live from the place of love you get tangled up in living from fear.

If you're looking at love,

If you're looking at love as this innate inbuilt wisdom,

Resilience,

Well-being,

Presence,

Awareness,

If you're looking at love as something that is ever-present in in all of us then it's easy to see that from a place and space of love we find ourselves moving through the world with ease,

We find ourselves expressing ourselves,

Being authentic,

Being ourselves in the world,

Giving without the sense of needing something back in return or we're just in that space of wanting to reach out and feeling the power of connection.

That's what it is when we live from love and then the opposite is true when we live from fear and fear can mean a number of things.

It can actually mean being scared or guilty or feeling ashamed or not good enough or unlovable.

It can mean so many different things but that sense of fear,

When you're living from a place of fear,

I might also say that would be ego-driven,

That place of there is me and identity and I need to look after myself and I need to look after myself at the expense of others and there's me in the world,

There's you in the world,

Like if I don't take what's mine you will take what's mine and I don't want that so let's fight about it or you need to have the same opinion as me because I can't exist in my world if we have different opinions.

That ego-driven sense of fear is the piece that has us see and believe that we are separate from each other.

So the question really for me is what would it be like to live from a place of love and I'm actually going to be experimenting with this over the next few days so I might share back my response on Insight Timer as I go along but I know deeply in my bones this place of knowing,

Of love,

This sense of who I truly am.

I know in my bones that that is the absolute foundation of who I truly am and I also realize that there are times I forget that and that's okay,

Like it's okay,

I forget it,

You forget it,

We all forget it,

We all get lost in being human,

We all get lost in being driven by fear which might be guilt or busyness or separateness or anger whatever it might might mean for you but what would it be like to experiment and maybe maybe we could do this experiment together like what would it be like for you to live from a place of love and living from a place of love doesn't mean that you just roll over and let everybody walk all over you.

Living from a place of love means that you turn up authentically in the world,

You let people know what your boundaries are in the moment,

You let people understand that you are looking out for the love in them,

The compassion in them and you are being driven and being fueled by the connection and being connected to the source of life itself.

So my question is are you up for this experiment?

What would it be like just for a day,

Let's just do it for a day,

What would it be like to live from a place of love rather than fear?

This one too, is very interesting for me because in my entire life, I can’t say that I’ve ever experienced or felt fear or fearful. Maybe that’s naïve. Maybe it’s the grace of having a very protective police officer, father, who taught strength and protectiveness, but never fear. There are certainly things in this world that I don’t care for but nothing that I’ve ever found this far that has given me a sense of fear in any way. And that includes leaving this life. I wish I could say I lived my entire life from the core of love, but that would be a lie as well. But I strive for that as I’ve gotten older, especially. And I so appreciate these little moments every day, causing me to really think about things. much gratitude.

I have been working on making that shift in myelf for a while now, and its freeing. It has involved me releasing the sense of responsibility I had taken on for the 'safety' of others, for them knowing the truth, or the consequences (accoding to me. Now that's a whole other topic of discussion ! ).

Living in a place of love , to me brings a sense of peace and contentment. Grateful for what you have, not comparing yourself to others .unfortunately in our modern world fear is all around, and certain media what to exploit this .
