Hello and welcome to Five Minutes in Nature with me Liz Scott and you're joining me on the fourth in a series of pieces that I've been reflecting on on this particular walk.
I'm on Dartmoor,
Blue skies,
Sunshine,
A bit of a cool autumnal breeze cooling me down and I've just walked up to the head of the stream and I'm now turning around and walking back down again.
And if you remember we've been reflecting on this shift and transition and change in life.
The transition into elderhood of a wise woman,
Of shifting through the menopause,
Of feeling as though I'm on completely different territory.
So one is like looking at that change in life that you might be experiencing at the moment.
And then we also looked at the rise and call of intuition and wisdom that wants you to listen to it as it guides you through life.
There's a stronger feel and sense of it wanting to be heard.
So that's what we looked at.
Before yesterday.
And then yesterday we explored the creative expression that wants to come through you.
So rather the things you think you should and need to do,
What wants to be articulated,
Created through you,
Whether it's just for yourself,
Maybe it's a gift you've got yet to share or something you want to learn about.
Maybe it's something you want to provide for the wider world.
It doesn't really matter,
But it's something creatively that wants to take expression through you.
What is that in your life?
And today's reflection,
Well,
It's about the practicalities and creating space and time and reflection space to really get a sense of what is important for you in your life at the moment.
And as I looked up in the sky just before I was talking to you,
I saw that an aeroplane trail or two aeroplane trails had crossed in the sky and there was like white clouds crossing in the sky.
And it made me smile because I thought,
Yes,
Today is all about reflecting on what you need to say no to.
And for me,
This whole time in life,
As I move into a different phase of life where the landscape is so different,
And I'm relying much more on my intuition and wisdom than ever before,
Is that it's also practical.
It's not just about wafting around,
Listening to intuition and wisdom.
There's a practicality to this.
For me,
For example,
There's a practicality in my business,
In engaging with people that I want to work with,
In fact,
The creative expression for me,
As I begin to get a sense of this,
Is forming for me,
Which is around elderhood,
Particularly for women,
Transitioning in life and looking for a new roadmap to follow.
And in order for you and for me to express ourselves in the world,
To listen to intuition,
To practically take up space in the world,
To find a way and to pay the bills,
Will be things we need to say no to and that's why those two aeroplane trails crossing in the sky made me smile because it's like there are things you need to cross out of your life.
And that's what today's reflection is all about.
What is it for you to let go of so that you can create space for something fresh and new to grow within you?
That I don't really want to engage with this email anymore.
I just need to unsubscribe for them.
It's really simple.
There are other things in my life which I've said yes to,
Places and things I've volunteered for,
Which kind of on one level I've wanted to do,
They felt like they were right at the time,
But now I'm like,
I don't think they're right for me anymore.
So I'm going to go through my life and just kind of reflect on what am I volunteering for?
What am I saying yes to?
That really doesn't have a place in my life anymore.
So can you get a sense of that?
Like what is it in your life that you can shed that no longer needs your attention and energy,
That actually by freeing up space,
You're allowing something else to come through and grow.
I don't know what it's going to be for you in your life,
But I know that it's going to be helpful for you to reflect on that and give yourself a bit of time and space to reflect.
So today,
Let me know how you get on as you consider what is it for you to drop in your life?
What no longer requires you to turn up and engage with it?
What easy things can you shed and get rid of that will provide space and nourishment in your life for something fresh to grow?
I'd love to know your reflections on this.
And don't forget to join me again tomorrow for another five minutes in nature.
