Welcome.
Let's take a moment to pause.
Finding a comfortable position to sit or lie.
Easing in to the body,
Easing in to the surface beneath you.
Just noticing any tension and adjusting a little,
Let go a little more.
Paying attention to the toes and the feet and relaxing a little.
Paying attention to the legs,
Releasing the muscles in the legs,
Allowing them to soften.
Shifting the attention to the body now,
Just being aware of any tightness in the body.
And trying to ease into it to relax a little more.
Paying attention to the breath,
Allowing the breath to shift from the upper chest to the belly and allowing the rise and fall of the belly.
Almost soothing,
Rocking motion,
As you acknowledge the inhale and the exhale of the breath.
Shifting your attention to the arms and hands and fingers and allowing them to soften,
To release.
And now attention to the neck,
Throat,
Jaw,
Eyes,
Nose,
Ears and whole head.
Whole head acknowledged,
Allowing the tongue to fall away from the roof of the mouth,
Allowing your eyes to soften and close if they're not already.
Feeling a deep warmth beneath the darkness and stillness.
And just while we're acknowledging this though,
Inhale and exhale.
Just going to allow any other thoughts to drift and fade.
If they do come in,
Just acknowledge them and release them.
And coming back to the breath,
Going back to the gentle rise and fall of the belly.
Slowly,
Settling,
Deepening.
We're just going to start to imagine that we look down at our feet and our feet are bare.
Feeling the sensation of the ground under the toes and feet.
And as we look up,
We notice that we're standing in front of a large blank canvas.
Just notice the size of this canvas,
Shape.
Shifting our attention to the side,
You notice a palette of colors.
Just for a moment,
Looking at the colors,
Observing what tones they are.
Noticing if there's more of some colors than others.
Noticing the shapes that they've created on this palette.
Noticing for a second,
Next to the palette,
A pot of brushes.
Picking up the palette,
Just feel,
If you wish,
To pick up a brush or use your hands to feel into the paint and the colors.
And what color are you going to choose first,
Without overthinking?
Allowing yourself to move with that color onto the blank canvas.
Allowing the body to move in any way that feels right and freeing.
A sense of release.
Just seeing that color move with your hand and your body.
Allowing it to flow.
Taking up as much space,
Or as little space,
As you feel the canvas is calling to.
And you pause.
And look at the color on the canvas.
You can,
At this moment,
If you wish,
Ask,
What does this color or shape represent to me?
And then just asking,
What color do I need,
Or what color is calling to me next?
And you look back down at your palette.
You start to move with the second color.
Again,
Just allowing the strokes,
Movement,
Whether they be long,
Flowing,
As if drawing a river.
Short,
Sharp edges,
As if determining an outcome or expressing a point.
Or just dotting,
Even,
To create a statement.
And noticing how the two colors start to almost create a calling to you.
Again,
Stepping back and observing the canvas.
For the next few moments,
Just allowing any other colors that may call to you.
To move with you,
Or through you,
Onto the canvas.
Observing what movements each color creates.
Observing what is being called to you,
When you step back and look.
And if you wish,
At this time,
You can also bring in the sense of allowing,
Release,
And let go.
And now,
Just allow that time with the movement,
Color,
And the freedom of expression.
Not overthinking,
Just allowing.
And if at any point,
You feel the canvas is complete for now,
You can simply step back and observe.
Taking in the details,
Taking in the colors.
And then,
Slowly upon slowly,
Putting down the palette,
Putting down the brushes.
And going to the canvas and picking it up,
And turning it into the light.
And you walk over to a bare wall,
And gently hang it there.
Stepping back,
As you see the vibrance,
The beauty of the creation.
And allowing yourself that sense of letting go.
That sense of releasing through creativity.
And with the next breath,
You become one with yourself again in this moment.
This moment of self-expression and relaxation and restoration.
Gently becoming more aware of the breath.
Gently becoming more aware of your surroundings.
Gently becoming more aware of any light coming through your closed eyes,
Any sounds around you.
Before you open your eyes,
You may want to pause and just ask,
What is it you can bring in from that artwork into your day or your night as a reminder?
As you open your eyes,
You may wish to chop those ideas down.
Sketch what came to you through the canvas in this moment.
And knowing you can return to this at any time.
And gently returning to your day or night.
And wishing you moments of self-love and contentment.
