Welcome to Meditations for Magic Ones.
This is Megan Mellon and we are beginning an adventure where a few moments of your day can become a portal to connection for your deeper self and for what you most want to fulfill on in this life.
I am happy you're here.
Let's go.
Good morning.
Let's go ahead and find a comfortable posture.
Maybe you're lying down still.
Maybe you're sitting up part way.
Maybe you're sitting up all the way.
But wherever you are,
Let's find an inner pose that connects with a sense of readiness to greet the day.
In the history of days,
Not that many days have been wake-up days.
It may feel relentless,
Sure,
In this lifetime.
But in the whole span of natural history,
This whole lifetime is somewhat of a blip.
Wherever you are,
Like an old piece of stone in a forest,
Covered in moss and now vines,
Start to feel the vine layer dropping roots onto the soft earth beneath you.
The roots are not so different in color from the stone and if you squint your mind's eye,
Perhaps those colors start to blend.
The sturdiness of the stone,
The soft squishiness of the moss,
And now the roping,
Reaching,
Rooting quality of the vines.
Extending tendrils down,
First past the leafy compost layer on the forest floor,
Then down,
Down,
Down,
Into the loamy soil deep beneath.
These roots are not afraid of the dark.
They do not need eyes or light to see.
And one path is not required here.
Each root,
And there are many,
That reaches this ground layer forks.
It splits and expands its reach and ability to sense and connect in to those depths.
And many fractal root endings meld into what is beneath.
At some stage it's dry,
At some stage maybe sandy,
Maybe some rock bits or clay are there so the roots will navigate around and in some places there is groundwater.
The roots tap into the groundwater and through it,
Absorbing what is needed.
And gently as they reach,
They begin to draw closer to all aspects of the vines,
That which is beneficial.
Nutrients in the soil,
Micronutrients and minerals,
Find their way up and in to the roots and through the system to precisely the location they are needed.
The roots,
Now connected through many different temperatures and substances,
Are able to find many temperatures,
Cold and hot,
Warm,
Cool.
And those sensations too are routed precisely to where they are most beneficial in the organism that is this rooted,
Mossed,
Stoned forest being.
And all together the ground beneath the surface layer and the stone and these vines and this moss begin to feel and breathe and move like one greater entity.
Where this stone is sitting,
Like our bones,
There actually arises a sense that the earth is waking up.
That it's not the stone that needs to move its bones,
The bones can stay quite stable.
That which is meant to be long-term can rest and roost.
And while that stillness is undisturbed,
Deep inside this being,
Whose green layers are now evolving and proliferating,
The eye and the heart's eye of the earth begin to awaken.
Imagine that a light,
Springy green color begins to glow.
Really from the tapestry of these different elements,
All intertwining and intertwining,
Interrelating,
Correlating together.
The green light glows from the stone and moss and vine and soil and loam organism and that light begins to permeate out into this space around this being.
The light can travel underground.
Perhaps there it's more perceptible as a presence between dirt particles or an inner warmth that reaches worms.
At the ground level,
Perhaps the light makes the earth itself or the leaves around feel ever so slightly more cheerful.
And above the soil and the stone,
The light casts out,
Creating some magnetic draw or curiosity,
Perhaps for the animals in the area,
The dragonflies and the squirrels.
And to those who can see it,
This mossy green emits a curious and startling sparkle that gleams in a way that is beckoning.
The more the light gleams,
The more the stone settles.
The more the glow persists,
The more the moss feels right at home.
Perhaps letting down some of its stretch or reach instinct and becoming content to just fluff and floof out and around instead.
The vines begin to undulate in the pulsing sense of this green light.
They are held within it.
They need not be their own container.
They are held within this glowing light.
And as the system relaxes and expands naturally and begins to undulate and find its own relaxing,
Practicing rhythm,
The light settles into itself too.
Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out inside this light.
Perhaps you can feel it surrounding your human shoulders and arms,
Your legs,
Your knees,
Your ribs,
Your seat.
Maybe you start again at the top of your head,
Taking a yawn as I'm doing.
And the relaxation and awareness of being settled within this springy green light melts over the crown of your head,
Down the sides of your face,
Over your ears,
Into your neck,
Over your clavicle and shoulders,
Melting down over your heart,
Your scapula on the back,
The beginnings of your ribs,
Down your sternum,
All the way to the bottom of your ribs in the front,
The sides,
And the back.
And each breath in allows that green light to stabilize and permeate all containers within this space,
Greeting what it finds,
Harmonizing,
Letting go.
As we sit and breathe,
The light melts down even further,
Past sternum,
Toward the inner organs.
The light can reach easily into the body as simply as out.
Imagine an x-ray,
But not radiation,
Just this willing green glow,
Awakening connection with each of your organs,
With all of the fascia,
Connective tissue that wraps them and wraps each muscle packet in your body like the fibers of an orange,
Wrap each tiny orange bit into wedges and one contiguous whole.
The light returns to companionship with each of your organs,
With the spaces in between,
With all that they contain.
Parts that are you,
Parts that are not you,
Those that will remain,
Those that will be passed through.
And down,
Down,
Down,
The light glows gently toward hips,
Toward sit bones,
Toward the sockets of hips,
Where your femur bone extends from hip to knee,
To all those muscle groups in charge of standing and sitting and running and jumping and leaping.
Relaxed here for the moment,
Greeting that big power inside our bodies that can chase or flee or dance with ease and non-disturbance into all the membranes of the knee,
Cartilage and tendons and ligaments,
Down through the shins,
Through all the layers of the lower leg,
Down to the heels and the feet,
The toes and the spaces between the toes,
Each toe tip and each toenail,
The sides of your toes,
The sides of your feet,
The back of your heel,
The inner ankle,
The arch beneath your feet.
The glow of the light is available with no effort to draw around every fiber of our being,
From the ground up and over our entire cloak of skin or clothes or blankets or seat,
The area right around us,
And also perhaps some space around you that is not directly adjacent to your body.
What if the green light is plentiful enough that it can extend as far out as you might like?
Would you like it to stretch out left and right like a great giant set of wings above and below right at your back?
Is there somewhere in your field of vision,
Eyes either open or shut,
Some depth you will love for it to expand to reach?
From here,
Let's begin to close our exploration for today.
As you breathe in and breathe out,
Let's honor this exploration of this glowing green light,
Its presence and origins from the collaboration and the teamwork of our stone aspects,
Our mossy floof aspects,
Our viney ropey reach aspects and their roots,
The weight of the stone and the forest floor,
The softness and decomposition of the leaves and the leaf litter,
The loam and the worms and the minerals and the nutrients.
The water and the heat,
The air and the ether between tiny particles of earth,
Of broken down hummus beneath us.
And as we reflect on this time spent together,
Let's find our physical feet on the floor.
Maybe you'll find your seat,
Your shoulder joints,
Some elbows.
Experience those images of stone and vine and root reconnecting into the present moment experience of having a human body on precisely the bit of earth you currently inhabit.
With precisely the warmth or coolness and rhythm of the breath you currently host.
And as we reconnect with that image of the earth's heart's eye right in our heart center,
Let's see if we can flutter our physical eyes open,
Wiggling fingers and toes,
Curious with safe wonder,
Is it possible to keep a teensy impression of this experience of being a connected earth fragment,
A green glow being.
As we move into the next era of our day.
Thank you for joining me today.
This has been Megan Mellon with Meditations for Magic Ones.
And what a joy to spend the time.
Enjoy your day.
