Welcome,

Come take a seat,

Join me for a Lunar New Year meditation.

This year,

2020,

Is the year celebrating the Year of the Rat.

And the rat is actually considered the very first zodiac animal,

Which is fitting that it also represents the beginning of a new day.

We land here on the year of 2020,

The start of a new decade,

And so we have the opportunity to really celebrate this newness or freshness.

And we will do so in this meditation by connecting to the colors of the rat.

And so you choose either the color of gold,

The color of blue,

Or the color of green.

And then see yourself to a comfortable position.

Invite yourself to drop into a stillness or find that stillness in movement.

Inviting any areas in your body that need a place of relaxation or ease to soften.

And then trace the spine all the way from the tailbone up to the crown of the head,

Just to encourage a little more length for the breath to flow up and down.

Now take that color that you have chosen and place it gently into the belly,

Keeping the belly soft.

Notice the breath as it enters the body and fills the belly.

And on the exhale,

Sense all of that air emptying out of the belly and pour out of your body.

Try that again.

Full breath in,

Filling the belly.

Deep exhale,

Release.

Now connecting to with that colored light,

Just imagine filling that belly.

And as you breathe into it,

That colored light becomes vibrant,

Radiant.

Deep exhale,

Grounding into the sense of a new lunar year.

Full breath in.

Now that radiant colored light representing the rat spreading through all the limbs,

The torso,

All the way to the top of the head.

And as you exhale,

Grounding,

Becoming steady through the breath and through the body as we begin the new year.

Full breath in.

And maybe that colored light now radiates outside of the body to fill the space around you,

Inviting that newness and freshness in your place at home or at work.

And as you exhale,

Grounding in that appreciation and gratitude for a new day,

For a new year.

Full breath in.

Every now that radiating colored light is spread through the whole space that sends out that energy and that luck of the rat to all the people,

Family members,

And friends that may be near and far.

And as you exhale,

Grounding in that connection,

Those that you want to celebrate this newness of the year of the rat.

Take one more deep breath here,

Celebrating all of the space,

All of the people,

Your new journey into 2020,

The year of the rat.

Full breath in.

Deep exhale out.

Let go of the colored light.

Let go of the breath and just settle in a small moment to maybe make a wish for the new year,

An intention.

We're offering gratitude to start the new lunar year and the year of the rat.

Thank you for joining me.

And I hope this new lunar year is filled with all the joy,

All the laughter,

All the connection and presence.

Unbelievable.
