While on a journey,

The master and one of his disciples encountered the governor at the village's edge.

Mistaking their presence as a welcome gesture,

The governor remarked,

Your effort to welcome me is truly unnecessary.

Correcting misunderstanding,

The disciple replied,

Your highness,

We are actually traveling,

However,

Had we known of your arrival,

We would have extended an even grander welcome.

Remaining silent,

The master later remarked,

Was it necessary to clarify that we were not here to welcome him?

Notice how foolish he felt.

The disciple questioned,

Wouldn't withholding the truth have been deceitful?

No deceit,

The master explained.

By not correcting him,

He would have deceived himself.
