This is a meditation for when we feel scattered, ungrounded or distracted. By harnessing our imagination, we meet our mind just where it is, allowing it to be far away and drifting through space. Then we slowly allow ourselves to be drawn back to Earth, and deeply embody ourselves in our physical presence. This can help us to feel solid and safe.

Transcript

This is a meditation for when we feel a little distracted or dispersed,

When we feel not quite as solid in our bodies and we use our imagination to help bring ourselves home.

So allow yourself to be comfortable whether you're sitting or lying down and we begin by giving our mind permission to be far,

Far away.

So you can imagine yourself as floating in space.

Imagine the farthest away point in space and simply allow yourself to be drifting there,

Weightless,

Aimless.

You might notice the stars around you.

There might be beautiful nebulae to see,

Beautiful colours infusing them.

You might see shooting stars,

Just sensing this vast,

Boundless expanse of deep space.

Allow yourself to feel very safe as you're floating.

You're held in true safety.

Then very slowly you can sense a pull back towards the Milky Way,

Part of our great system between 100 billion and 400 billion stars.

An extraordinary home that our planet is part of.

Contemporary neighbourhood that we live in.

Just sensing the different cosmic bodies around you.

You might see different planets,

Different colours,

Stars shimmering.

Knowing that this great spiral galaxy of the Milky Way is constantly rotating,

Is constantly in motion.

These billions of stars held by this energy of gravity and this beautiful cosmic dance.

And then sensing this pull of this gravity to bring you closer to our solar system.

You might see a beautiful sun that you recognise.

Seeing maybe the different solar flares,

All of the motion and energy,

Tremendous force of the sun,

Making everything,

All life on our planet possible.

Our sun is like a great second heart,

Constantly beating to support our life.

Then moving out from the sun,

You might count out three planets and our third planet,

Beautiful blue swirling planet,

You can draw in towards this precious earth.

Feeling the pull of this gravity of home now.

Seeing the weather systems of the planet,

Great oceans,

Great land masses,

Allowing the earth to simply rotate on its own perfectly aligned orbit.

It's part of this huge cosmic dance of the Milky Way.

And then drawing in closer again.

And the next time your continent twirls before you,

You can zoom in closer,

Finding the area where you are and zooming in again to have a beautiful aerial picture,

Whether it's a green land or a city,

Just sensing the space that your body is resting within and then feeling that pull from your body,

This gravity drawing you home.

You might be above the building or place where your body is and allowing yourself to sink in through safely,

Effortlessly,

Coming in till you are above yourself.

Watching yourself sitting or lying in ease and safety and feeling this pull of gravity very strongly now so that you sink in slowly,

Fully,

Beautifully,

Allowing yourself to be fully immersed in your body,

Soaking down through your chest,

Your hips,

Your thighs,

Your calves,

Filling your two feet.

So that you completely embody your two feet,

Filling your ankles,

Your calves,

Your right knee,

Left knee,

Your thighs,

Your seat and hips,

Your whole pelvic area,

Slowly filling your torso,

Sensing your inner heart beating,

Your shoulders,

Top of your shoulders,

Soaking down through your two arms,

Your upper arms,

Elbows,

Forearms,

Your wrists,

Your two hands,

Deeply embodying,

Just fully drawing yourself home and then moving up from your torso to fill your neck and throat,

Your head,

Sensing your hair,

Your scalp,

Your skull,

Your brain,

Your face,

Forehead,

Eyebrows,

Eyes,

Nose,

Cheeks,

Ears,

Your lips,

Your jaw.

So you allow your sense of presence to become super saturated in your body so that you are fully,

Intensely alive in your living body.
