I have a quote for you today as we are making our way these 40 days through the desert,
Rediscovering or maybe discovering for the first time our more authentic self,
Our more honest self,
That place that we can go to on the inside,
Sometimes we don't even want to poke at it ourselves,
Where there's truth,
A resonance that has no discord.
It's a simple place.
It's an easy place.
And when we can get there,
When we can grow from there,
We are our best selves.
Now I'm an artist.
I paint.
I write.
And it's through these mediums that I come to more expose that authentic self.
And unfortunately,
It can be disrupted,
Disclaimed,
Doubted.
And that's where we can sometimes go when we find ourselves in the desert.
Either that disruption has brought us to this dark place,
This lost place,
This searching place,
Or a natural course where we've been living in a truth.
But somehow that truth got misaligned.
Now that's what happened to me.
It's not that I made a choice that took me down a road that wasn't authentic to me.
It was that along that road,
That choice,
I got bumped and ground,
Pushed about in such a way that I lost my sense of where that road was going,
Where that road had come from,
And why I was on it in the first place.
The desert is a great place to rediscover yourself.
And that's what I've been in the process of doing and why I bring you these 40 days.
Today I have just one simple thing for you as we sit together,
My morning thoughts as I'm sharing them.
We're on the other side of halfway.
The road ahead,
The empty desert ahead,
Is less than what we have come through.
The light's beginning to shine on the horizon.
Perhaps the road is looking more clear rather than expansive nothingness.
And we find ourselves here beginning to recognize where our searching is leading us.
Today that quote,
And I ask you to sit for a bit,
Linger over the words,
And consider them for yourself as you explore your life,
Your trajectory,
And the road ahead.
This is from chef Jacques Pepin,
A very famous teacher,
Author,
French chef,
Worked with Julia Childs.
He said,
You can't escape yourself anyway,
So at some point you have to do who you are.
You can't escape yourself anyway,
So at some point you have to do who you are.
At some point,
I'll add,
You don't want to escape yourself anymore.
That only came from comparison,
Self-doubt,
Thinking the grass was always greener.
In fact,
You can't escape yourself,
And hallelujah,
You no longer want to.
You get to do who you are.
