Awaken Creative Day 38.
Isn't it beautiful?
We're here at the very tail end of this journey,
40 days,
Exploring the desert of our intentionality and our creative bent,
Peeling away layers of contrivance so that we can get to the heart of our truest essence,
Our uniqueness,
If you will,
Of creative expression.
Today,
As we wind down,
Nearing this finish line,
We're poking at creative intentionality.
You are the designer,
Not just of the blank canvas before you in your studio,
But of your entire life.
Creative expression isn't solely about the colors,
The textures,
The patterns,
The system through which you apply and create onto this blank canvas.
Artistry is a combination of all aspects of you.
We don't consciously live in that reality every moment as we stand before the blank canvas.
It's simply there,
Like breath.
Our existence in all the days before,
Our presence here now and the future that lives in the dreams and imaginations and hopes within us.
They're all living there just as our breath within us.
Creative intentionality is knowing this,
That all these layers exist,
Not the layers we've peeled away that I've been suggesting are society and expectations and cultural norms and political structures.
Yes,
Those,
But now I'm speaking of the layers that are the internal creation of you.
We literally started as a seed and grew in layers and form from there.
Today's look at creative intentionality can get a pushback from artists like myself who work abstractly.
These expressions come from deep inside rather than any external input.
The external,
As we've spoken about,
Come to us through that internal passion and drive.
They come in as tools,
Patterns,
Places in the world that intrigue us and we move towards.
Creative intentionality is all of these things and more.
The bedrock,
As I've been referring to things,
The bedrock is that desire.
It needs a framework.
Intentionality is that.
The creative arts,
As we're speaking from,
Begin that groundwork and create that foundation.
And then one of us may pick up a brush where another might grab a guitar.
That's where the intentionality begins to set in.
What's your tool?
What's your passion and how do they meet?
Like a Mobius strip,
Keep returning that initial passion,
That gut punch of beauty,
That yes,
That hits your solar plexus.
Then has you picking up that brush or pulling down that green or writing those notes on the scale,
But it doesn't stop there.
It's not a straight line.
It is that Mobius strip.
It returns to that internal hit and takes you further so that you seek out that harmony of expression,
Whether in notes or sounds or color.
The intentionality becomes an authenticity or vice versa,
But it takes practice,
Devotion,
Will and work.
On the outside,
It might not always be fun or enjoyable or feel like a passion when it does become that work.
But using this Mobius strip visual,
In those moments when work is work,
Return yourself to that power of will,
Reground in your intention so that you slip around the other side of the Mobius strip back into that work with a firm intentionality.
This will be your prize,
Your win,
Your success.
Keep going.
Awaken creative.
