When we,
You,
An individual,
Does not have access to your own soul,
To take time,
To have time to take,
For prayer and contemplation,
And to turn towards that inner voice,
Fear and insecurity arise.
This is something some systems count on.
Politics,
Religion,
Even culture and society prey on these opportunities.
Our inner life is necessary and sometimes we're called to it unexpectedly.
That is the dark night of the soul.
That is the forty days in the desert as we've just walked.
It is up to us,
Individually,
To take responsibility for our own life.
For if we don't,
Something or someone else will.
That's not to the subjugation of cultural rules and regulations.
Those are in place to give us guideposts,
Guidelines.
They,
Too,
Can work to the best or the worst.
We've passed some of those guideposts on our journey these last 40 days,
Been given some tools that helped,
Seen some signs that were easily rejected,
And learned,
To a higher level,
What it means to listen to ourself and then be a part of this greater world,
Not the reverse.
Oscar Wilde wrote from prison,
There's not a single degradation of the body which I must not try and make into a spirituality of the soul.
I've got to make everything that has happened to me good for me.
He's unjustly charged,
Abused,
Set apart.
Oscar Wilde was,
As he wrote this from prison.
And yet he could still recognize his responsibility,
His ability,
And the choices before him.
In prison,
A place where most of us can only imagine,
When we envision would be fear-filled,
Sacrifice-laden,
And tremendously constrained by outside forces.
Yet,
Within those constraints,
He established freedoms.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning,
Another example of those constraints,
With great freedom,
Was constrained not by walls of prison,
But walls of illness,
Debilitation,
Physically.
Yet,
She chose the expansiveness of her imagination and her creativity to carry her beyond those constraints of body and physical depletion.
These two extreme cases are here to highlight to you,
Creative,
On this 40th day of our 40-day journey through the desert of discovery,
To see just how able-bodied you are,
Just how equipped you are,
And just how free you are to choose,
To awaken,
Creative,
To own,
And relish,
And exalt that unique,
Still,
Small voice of you.
It matters,
But it doesn't matter.
What kind of walls have been built around you,
Or constraints keep you?
It's time to stop looking outside,
To stop seeing externals as anything but opportunity and possibility that can play that voice of your gut to a higher resonance and a more beautiful harmony.
You get to.
Take your life and play it to a higher resonance,
One that is attuned to a rhythm maybe others can't hear,
But in time,
Will sing a song than any that's yet been heard.
Life at its core is opportunity,
And opportunity is full of creative power.
You now.
Step over this horizon line of the final 40th day.
This desert that looked desolate is full of this opportunity.
Go after what you desire.
Continue to identify with your own personal passion,
And stay true.
That balance and harmony will keep you each day awakened,
Creative.
