In this second week of 52 weeks,
To live out our most authentic,
Awakened,
Creative self,
Mary Oliver is our matcha quotes giver.
She talks about awaiting.
She talks about a listening.
So you,
Sit back,
Awaken creative,
Listen,
Meditate on these words,
And go forward.
The political climate would have us believe that the world were in complete disarray.
Certainly,
The impact of global change,
Discord,
Hit the individual life as well.
There's certainly work to be done,
That's undeniable,
But as a creator,
As an artist and a maker,
Your responsibility is to yourself first.
Not selfishly.
Not narcissistically.
Your responsibility to self comes first because you have a divine spark within that has a When you do this,
When you work from that initiating place,
That self place,
You're pouring the foundation that sets a solid base from which you can always stand,
Go out,
And return so as to make the greatest impact possible.
Not all of us will carry signs and placards.
Many of us will carry a paintbrush,
Speak in a quiet voice,
May not even use a voice at all,
But carry a message across a canvas.
No matter.
Each voice,
Each hand,
Each brush is here to make a difference.
Difference that is called for in its unique way.
In this one universal year,
These initiations to self are imperative.
What we must do,
I suppose,
Is to hope the world keeps its balance.
What we are to do,
However,
With our hearts,
Waiting and watching,
We truly do not know.
Mary Oliver.
This week's verse conjures up ideas of waiting,
Of watching.
This is an imperative an artist knows well.
Creativity never dies.
It spends time in the fallow ground,
Enriching itself with the nutrients of the soil,
Sprouting when the temperatures and the climate and the circumstances are right.
This is where you stand,
Artist.
This is where you're building,
Creator.
Trust it.
Settle down a little deeper.
Enjoy the fallow time.
It's imperative.
And it's your responsibility.
Awaken creative today.
