Awake and creative.
Good morning.
We're skipping into week eight.
Nearly an entire hour of daylight has been added to our lives since the winter solstice.
Can you feel it?
It's still cold.
It's still winter's chill.
But we're here.
Let's see what comes.
Richard Sennett,
In his book The Craftsman,
Gave me a simple line to contemplate for this week.
He suggested that the craftsman,
The artist,
Usually doesn't understand what they are doing.
How's that for a challenging conundrum?
After 30 years of doing this artist's life,
I can't agree more with Richard Sennett.
As a sentiment of contemplation this week,
Pick it up each morning.
Let it deepen your practice across the canvas.
This is the place we're seeking this year.
This deepened space of not understanding what we are doing,
Yet feeling,
Hearing,
Responding to that deep call in that deep space.
It is the source of your greatest revelation.
It is the source of your best contribution.
And it is the source of your most beautiful creation.
The craftsman doesn't always understand what they are doing.
I'm personally feeling blessed by this.
I have my tools.
I've acquired the knowledge.
And now I simply express.
You too,
Do the same.
Use this week to not know what you are doing.
And let it be your joy.
Awaken Creative.
Today.
