'This Too Shall Pass' - An Emergency Moment Of Calm

A quick 3-minute audio for when things are just too overwhelming. You can use this to give you space and get you calmer. This will enable you to move forward with things. Stay calm, you can do it. This too shall pass.

When it feels like we can't go on anymore,

We just can't cope.

Everything is overwhelming us and surrounding us.

We can use this 2 minute rescue to ground ourselves,

Take a breather,

Get some perspective and get back out there.

It can be useful to recite the phrase,

This too shall pass.

Because we know that it will pass.

Change is our only constant.

So we know that this situation,

This stressor,

It will pass.

So we can just repeat that phrase as many times as we need,

In our minds,

Out loud,

To help us remember that this too shall pass.

Now what I'd like to do is just give you some breathing space.

I'd like you just to close your eyes and just in front of you imagine the outline of a square.

And on the inhale you can go from the bottom left corner all the way to the top.

And then as you draw across the top you can hold your breath.

And then draw down the right hand side as you exhale.

Hold as you draw across the bottom back to the initial corner we started with.

Let's try it now.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Hold.

Exhale.

Hold.

You can go at your own pace.

You can hold and inhale and exhale as long as you need to.

And then you can be ready to go back out there and do what needs to be done.

Stand strong,

Know that you can do it and this too shall pass.

This too shall pass is a phrase my dad always says and it feels so good to find a meditation that offers the same encouragement and motivation. Kind of like having “dad in my pocket” anytime I need him, only with a female voice. 🙂 Thank you for this awesome motivator!
