In this short talk, taken from a live video, I explore what it means to have a purpose in your business and where to find the clarity you need to live your purpose within your business. A sense of purpose brings fulfilment and focus, both of which are much needed on the entrepreneurial path.

How do you live with purpose in your business?

Having that direction,

That clarity is so important to your sense of fulfillment and your ability to enjoy being in your business.

But there are three questions which are just enormous for any entrepreneur and ones we cannot avoid,

And yet somehow we seem to manage to avoid them quite effectively.

Those three questions are,

Who am I?

What do I do?

And why do I do it?

They are so important.

And if you don't have answers to those,

You can feel really,

Really lost and you can get so busy doing and taking action and doing what you do that you don't necessarily have the space to reflect on who you are,

What you really do and why you're doing it.

So when it comes to a sense of purpose,

It's actually not what you do that is important.

It's how you do it.

That is what you give your sense of purpose.

You have a very unique perspective and you have a very unique way of approaching things.

And through all of your life experiences,

That has been showing up,

Almost like traits,

They have been showing up.

And they're very deeply rooted in your values as a human and your desire to create.

If you think of some of your really big life experiences,

There are things that you have learned through them about what you're capable of or the way in which you approach them or what you learned from observing the way that you approach them.

And all of those lessons are speaking volumes about you and really what you're built to do and be.

So the key is not necessarily in testing yourself to discover what you're capable of because your life has already shown you what you are capable of and what you can do and what you can create.

It's already there.

You've already lived it.

The clues and the breadcrumbs are all around you.

There is a thread that has gone through your life that is showing you your purpose.

It's identifying particular things that are so unique to you that when you put them all together,

You just go,

That suddenly makes sense to me.

That's why I've been pulled in this direction,

Why I've been so curious about something else.

Or there are lots of things that have been going on for you.

You've had certain experiences and you've learned certain lessons from them.

That are showing you what your purpose is and your sense of purpose.

And it's how you live and how you approach your life and your work.

That is your sense of purpose.

And that thread is within you,

But it's also in front of you.

It's guiding you forward.

So what you have lived through has shown you your strengths.

It's shown you your passions and it's shown you your desires.

So you can use those to shape your way forward.

And sometimes,

The label doesn't exist and you have to create it.

And that's why so many people,

I think are becoming entrepreneurs because they can't be labeled.

They can't be boxed in.

They really need that freedom to say,

Well,

I am this and I am going to do this with it.

It's important for you when you are working on your sense of purpose to be prepared to be out of the ordinary because that's what you are.

You are extraordinary.

Blend,

Combine,

Create according to who you are and your sense of purpose and your values.

And all of that is going to come together to give you clarity.

It's going to speak to you really clearly,

Really loudly once you have that.

You're going to hear that call to move forward.

On a particular thing.

And so,

You know,

Sometimes we are exploring that sense of purpose through the things that make us curious or through the things that we want to try and we learn something and then we need to change direction.

It's not what you do.

Remember,

It's how you approach it that is going to give you that clarity on what you're capable of creating and what you're really built to create.

So if you are struggling to feel that sense of purpose,

It's a great time to just take your foot off the pedal a little bit,

Slow it down and say,

What has my life shown me so far and where can I go with that?
