Less doing more being. In today's world, we are bombarded with text messages, social media, emails, news, etc. We run around for work all day and are constantly busy. This gentle meditation is a reminder that it is okay to stop doing and start being.

Observing the thinker.

Throughout the days,

The months,

And the years,

Life has a way of speeding up.

We get busy,

We go through school,

We get a job,

We have friends,

And families,

And obligations.

Before we know it,

A great deal of time has passed.

And sometimes it may feel as if we don't know where the time has gone.

We may get so caught up in the day to day,

And the task of life,

That we lose touch with our self.

Not the self that we see in the mirror,

Or on Instagram,

But the self that is deep within.

The true self.

Who you are as a being.

The only way to get in touch with the self,

This deep being that lives inside of us,

Is to find stillness and rest from the noise and the chaos of the world.

Being is not a state of outward expression.

Being is deep within.

Your deepest self.

Your true nature.

And it can be easy to try to grasp this concept,

And try to understand it.

But the only way you can ever come in tune with your being,

Is when the mind is still.

Is when you are present.

And when your attention is fully and intensely focused on the now.

Being is something that can only be felt,

But can never be fully understood or explained.

So,

When you take time to meditate,

To be still,

To shed out the distractions of the world,

What you're really doing is taking time to be the most true expression of yourself.

Without thoughts,

Without altruism,

Without the needs of your existing self,

We all have this tiny voice in our head.

The monkey mind.

That chatters and talks to us constantly.

All day.

Every day.

And this is only sped up by the reading of text messages,

Constant barrage of emails,

Scrolling on social media,

Watching the news,

Listening to podcasts,

And any other type of consumption that might take us from the being within.

While knowledge is surely power,

And it's important for our growth and development,

Just as important is the knowledge of silence.

It's the reason you have that epiphany in the shower,

Or the idea that pops in your head on a quiet drive.

The lack of stimulation,

The connection to inner being allows you to filter your thoughts,

Step outside of this box that we view life from so often,

And simply be.

A being the being.

Because next time a thought seemingly comes from nowhere,

Can you ask yourself,

Who sent this thought?

What is the purpose of this thought?

And when you try to think about what it is you're thinking about,

That thought is replaced by thinking about what you're thinking about.

True presence,

True peace,

Is found in stillness.

When the chaos and the anxieties of life come crashing down,

You can retreat to this moment,

Withdraw from the past and from the future.

Observe your thoughts and be the being.

Namaste.
