
Stop Absorbing Other People's Energy | For Empaths

Hi I'm excited to talk about absorbing other people's energies and how to stop.
I'm going to give you a couple of techniques that I use personally as a healer and a life coach in order to allow myself to remove other people's energies but also to keep myself safe and do that energetic hygiene and continue to be grounded.
So I'm so passionate about this topic because I consider myself an empath.
What's an empath?
An empath is somebody that can walk into a room,
They know when other people's energies are a bit off or somebody's sad,
Somebody's feeling mad,
You feel it right away and you absorb it.
And so I like to think of it almost like you know the double-sided sticky tape where it's sticking to you and then you're taking it in as well and it's sticking on to that tape.
So it's like you've got your energy that's the inside of the tape and then the outside energy is the other people's energies that are all sticking to you kind of like a fly trap.
So when I have done healings on people what I do before I go into a healing is I do a white light protection around me and I imagine a white light coming out of the crown of my head and wrapping around my body around my whole body all the way to the ankles and then I imagine that white light coming out of the bottom of my feet and anchoring into the earth.
This is a meditation that I've actually recorded and that is in Insight Timer under grounding meditation under one of my tracks so you're welcome to try that out.
It's about seven minutes long and what's interesting is that the the more you do it the quicker you're going to be at it.
So what happens is when I'm in a session with somebody and I'm about to go to my next client you know I do it I do it every time honestly before another client there's some people who will do it at the beginning of the day and that's enough for them to carry them through the day.
I do it now really quickly even before I go to the grocery store so I'll be in my car and I'm about to go into this public situation with a lot of people a lot of energies and I don't know how many people are going to be mad what they're going through and I don't want it to come into me or affect the way that I feel so I will do my white light wrap it around and I always say to people that I'm teaching this technique that it reminds me of Cinderella and when the fairy godmother was wrapping her with the white light when she was creating that dress for her that's exactly how I see it in my mind and now I do it really quickly in the car before going into the store and I really notice when I do it and when I don't and how my energy is affected and that is a really good set point to notice for yourself how do you feel after you leave somewhere do you feel depleted do you feel like you have to go lay down do you feel like you you have nothing left in you right how do you feel when you leave and so that shows that your energy is maybe being mixed with other people's energy and there wasn't enough energetic hygiene or protection there for you now when the grocery store example I'm gonna keep going with that because I want you to notice when you go in somewhere and there's you know really busy grocery stores that are really big big box stores that are you know high energy lots of things going on oversized carts people who are trying to get through quickly they might smash into your cart they're trying to reach over you to grab something not everybody's really looking at each at each other or smiling it's a different energy right and it's like when you think of that I want you to just imagine it and think about it and think about how you feel in that environment and think about how you feel when you leave and I know my husband we went to one of these big stores and he left and it was really clear to me how important this work was because he said to me I wasn't angry when I went in but I don't even know why I'm feel really angry right now and like I said that's a really good depiction of how much energy you've absorbed while you're in there how do you feel when you leave and so the other side of it is these beautiful grocery stores there's one here where I live where it's like the produce is all put beautifully it feels like I'm in an outdoor market and it's all these like fresh fruit and veggies and everything feels so expansive and colorful and all the workers just seem so happy and it just feels like a really positive environment when I leave there I feel uplifted I feel energetic I feel excited and it's like yeah I did just go to the grocery store but it was kind of it was like the difference in energies are just so so different so I really encourage you to try that because it is like wrapping a bubble around you so that I want you to imagine like this bubble being wrapped around you that's this energetic bubble you're creating and then it's allowing things to bounce off and it's allowing things to come in and like to not come in sorry to come it come against the bubble and to bounce right off of the bubble okay because and you're nice and safe and protected in this bubble and that's how I imagine it the other thing that I do is let's say I've had like a long day of clients or I've just had like a really tiring day being out in public and or you can do this you know that that's how I do it you can do it with like you've maybe had one interaction and you're like I need to cleanse my energy and you need to release so a really beautiful release is to do a shower at night and and water is very healing and I want you to imagine that as the water falls on your head falls on that crown chakra you're imagining anything that you've collected anything that might have come up just allowing it to come over your head over your body feeling the water go over your body feeling it heal it and then you watch as it goes down the drain and so you're releasing and you can even say I release I release I release you know and just saying it rhythmically I love doing things three times rhythmically the beautiful I release I release I release and you're watching as all of the day everything that might have happened goes right down the drain right into the sewer right and it's like you can even ask that it be transmuted and cleansed through the water but water is very healing water is a beautiful way to to kind of have that like bookmark at the end of the day so it's like the wrapping yourself in white light is a beautiful way to start your day and then at the end of the day doing the shower at the end of the day and just really noticing how you feel noticing the difference and noticing how your energy feels and I think that's the biggest difference if you can do those two things to start and just allow yourself to have that energetic hygiene practice then you're going to notice some really big shifts I'm really excited for you and to learn how you're feeling if it makes a difference and what you notice and how you move forward and continue to protect your energy
