Sound Bath Sessions 240: Morrison Su, Missy Liu
We all met at 7 pm at Missy's studio is in the Datong District of Taipei near Dihua Street. Morrison and Missy usually play together, so their style, mood, and personalities are perfectly matched. Having an extra pair of hands really helps to stretch the dynamic range, low to high frequencies, of the recording, and they really took advantage of it. Each of them focused on their instruments as well as being mindful of the entire recording. Their improvisation had a great dialogue, taking turns to create a new sound, then playing with it to see where it would take them. All of their instruments were placed along the walls so I put my microphone in the middle of the room. Morrison sat in the front and played metal bowls and shakers. Missy was more mobile playing the shamanic drum, metal bowls, and the gong which was behind me. This track is a short recording with metal bowls.
