Standing in line,

Just waiting.

It can be frustrating.

Wanting things to move faster,

With places to go.

I don't want to be late.

Instead of getting stressed out,

Take a breath.

Savor this moment.

Simply be aware.

Feel your feet on the ground.

Notice the space around you.

And those in front and behind.

The sounds.

People passing by.

Here is a chance to fully acknowledge each person.

An opportunity to offer loving kindness.

May be safe.

May be happy.

May be healthy.

May be at ease.

May be joyful.

May be peaceful.

May be contented.

May be safe.

May be happy.

May be joyful.

Just as you seek happiness,

All beings everywhere also want happiness.

Wish everyone you see and everyone unseen,

Unconditional good wishes.

May all beings be at peace.

This is street loving kindness.

This is Sharon Salzberg.

Still standing in line.

Thank you. I used this while waiting in the school pick up line. I was fully upset and not thinking kindly towards the other parents. Sharon, you always have a kind way of leading people towards compassion for others. Thank you.
