Hello and welcome to this guided meditation practice called Awakening Your Inner Champion.
This guided meditation is a self-soothing practice to offer yourself loving kindness and compassion,
Particularly when you are experiencing difficult emotions related to a setback,
Mistake or failure that creates feelings of inadequacy.
Confronting these difficult emotions requires inner work.
In this mindfulness practice,
We will use the power of breath and note-taking alongside repeating positive affirmations to help you bounce back from your setbacks and failures and move towards positive emotions.
So,
I invite you to first settle in into a comfortable position and posture,
Either sitting or lying down.
So I invite you to settle in.
First,
Make sure that you are in a comfortable position,
Sitting either on a meditation cushion or on a chair,
Somewhere very comfortable where you can sit upright and stay relaxed.
Now settle into your posture and notice how your body feels.
Feel the sensation of your feet touching the floor.
Notice the weight of your arms,
Your head and the cushion beneath you.
Be in your body right here,
Right now,
Fully inhabiting your lived experience.
And now I invite you to tune into your surroundings.
Allow your attention to move outward to the sounds around you.
What sounds are arising right now?
Are there noises outside your window?
A fan blowing?
Leaves rustling?
Try not to reach out to these sounds or push them away.
Let them arrive at your ears naturally and allow them to pass.
Now gently focus on your breathing,
The sensation of inhaling and exhaling.
Perhaps you feel the breath most strongly at your nostrils or maybe it's more noticeable as your chest rises and falls.
Let's take a few moments to rest with the breath simply and easily.
Notice the peacefulness of being quiet and still as you breathe.
And now I invite you to bring awareness to setbacks and feelings of inadequacy.
Bring to mind something in your life that has been bothering you.
A mistake,
A failure or a setback.
It could also be a memory from the past.
Perhaps something you experienced as a child or inherited from a loved one that has shaped how you see yourself today.
Bring awareness to anything that feels like a trauma,
A setback that lingers in your memory and prevents you from bringing the best in yourself.
Reflect on any feelings of inadequacy such as I am not enough,
I will never be enough,
I will never make it.
Acknowledge these feelings without judgment.
And now I invite you to notice bodily sensations and emotions.
Tune into your body and notice what sensations arise as you think about this setback or failure.
Do you feel tightness in your throat?
Heaviness in your heart?
Tension in your shoulders or neck?
Notice where the feelings of inadequacy live in your body.
Observe any images,
Memories or associations that come to mind as you explore these sensations.
Allow them to be present without resistance or judgment.
And now gently place one or both hands over your heart.
Feel the warmth and comfort of your touch.
Take a deep breath in and out.
And repeat silently or out loud,
I acknowledge my pain with kindness.
It is okay to feel this way.
I am human.
I forgive myself for being imperfect.
I am still worthy of love and respect.
And now to awaken your inner champion,
Let's practice some affirmations.
I am strong and resilient.
I am that I am.
I love myself unconditionally in good times and bad times.
I cheer for myself.
I root for myself.
I stay focused on my values,
Purpose and vision.
I take small steps each day towards my goals.
I build my bounce back muscles to recover from any failure,
Abuse or trauma.
My feelings of failure are temporary.
I am greater than my difficult feelings and emotions.
I allow myself to recover from my past failures.
I give myself 1,
000 second chances.
And when I hit 999,
I reset the counter.
Awesome work!
And now I invite you to embrace your imperfections through the Japanese artistic practice called Kintsugi.
This traditional Japanese art form involves repairing broken pottery with gold,
Silver or platinum lacquer,
Highlighting the cracks instead of hiding them.
The philosophy behind Kintsugi celebrates imperfection and impermanence,
Emphasizing that flaws and damage are part of an object's history and can make it even more beautiful and valuable.
Just like this pottery,
I invite you to consider your setbacks and challenges not as something that diminishes your worth,
But instead that which has shaped you into a more resilient and beautiful version of yourself.
You are like this art.
Your flaws are part of your history and they make you even more valuable.
And now I invite you to embrace the concept of failing forward.
This is the practice of transforming failures into valuable learning experiences propelling you closer to your goals.
It shifts the mindset from fearing imperfection to embracing it as part of the process.
This approach prevents imperfections from paralyzing you,
Encouraging you to take action despite uncertainty or mistakes.
By failing forward,
You recognize that progress often requires stumbling along the way and that every misstep is an opportunity to learn,
Adapt and grow.
You liberate yourself from the pressure of perfection and instead you create resilience and courage to keep moving towards your true purpose and breakthrough.
And now I invite you to connect to your purpose and to your ancestry.
Visualize your ancestors standing behind you,
Supporting and cheering you on.
Imagine their strength flowing into you.
Feel their joy when you succeed,
Their compassion when you stumble.
And say it out loud to yourself,
When I win,
My ancestors celebrate with me.
My breakthroughs honor their legacy.
And finally,
I invite you to reconnect with your inner child.
This is a champion within you that appreciates and marvels at the world without judgment,
Seeing value in everything.
Today,
Let this child guide you,
Helping you find joy and beauty even in adversity.
This child will encourage you to be more mindful of the hidden blessings amidst complexities and challenges.
As you go about your day,
Seek to appreciate every moment,
Every interaction,
Every setback and every triumph for their silky petals and prickly thorns alike.
Today,
Remember to live fully,
Appreciating not just the roses of life,
But their thorns as well.
And as we near the end,
Reflect on your journey in this meditation.
Notice any shifts in your body.
Perhaps your heart feels lighter or warmer.
Feel the qualities of an open heart,
Tenderness,
Care and kindness.
And let's close with these affirmations.
I am enough just as I am.
I have everything I need within me to create the life I desire.
I will respond to setbacks with calm ease,
Knowing that failures are impermanent.
I project my visions and values toward a new potential future.
Now,
Take one last deep breath in and out.
Remember,
This world would not be the same without you.
Your life belongs to you and to the ancestors who brought you into being.
When you win,
They all win.
When you have a breakthrough,
Your entire lineage celebrates it with you.
So I encourage you to keep taking small steps towards your goals and know that you're not alone.
You have everything you need within you to experience the life you want.
If feelings of failure or inadequacy arise again,
Return to this meditation to reawaken your inner champion.
You've got this.
I'm sending you love and peace.
