Hello,
My name is Seldar Lahtalder and I'm here to share a very short and very simple yet very powerful Qigong practice called grounding or rooting.
In Qigong practice,
We have a saying,
Qi follows Yi.
Qi follows the mind,
Or Qi follows the mind intent.
In other words,
We're using our mind intent,
Or even you could call it imagination,
When we're beginning these practices.
Another saying we have in Qigong is imagination becomes reality.
So the more we do these kinds of practices,
The more it becomes very real.
And you will feel it.
You will feel it in your body.
You will feel it in your heart.
You will feel the chi moving wherever you want to send it.
So this one's very,
Very,
Very simple.
We begin like we do all of our Qigong and meditation practices.
Where our eyes are closed,
Better to see the world within.
Breathing slowly,
Gently,
And deeply through our nose,
Tip of our tongue to the roof of our mouth.
And this one reason is because we are connecting the great superhighway of Chi that goes up our back of the Dumei.
And the Chi,
Superhighway Chi that goes down the front called the Renmei.
And I will explain more in another video about one of the other big reasons we're putting our tongue in the tip of our mouth.
So we sit,
If we're in a chair,
We have our feet flat on the floor.
It's better to do this if we can do this exercise outside standing on the earth.
Or next to a tree,
Or even in a forest or grove of trees.
And I'll explain why in a few minutes.
So let's begin.
Breathing slowly,
Deeply,
Gently in and out of our nose.
And imagine we are breathing directly into our lower dantian.
We have three main Qi centers in our body.
The one in our lower dantian,
The one in our middle dantian,
The one in our upper dantian.
And in other videos,
I'll be guiding you through some Qigong practices using those spells.
Energy centers as well.
So to begin,
We're breathing into our lower dantian,
And as we breathe in,
Our lower abdomen expands.
And as we breathe out,
It contracts.
So let's just do nine slow deep breaths.
Now what we're going to do is we're going to use that mind intent to send roots from the bottom of our feet,
From the ball of our foot,
From a point called the Yong Chun,
Which means bubbling wells point.
This point is also the very first point on the kidney meridian.
So we're sending these roots,
Like tree roots,
Down from the bottom of our feet all the way down into the living,
Breathing earth.
At least three times the length of your body.
So not just a couple feet into the earth,
But really you can go much deeper than that even.
Imagine you were a tree.
Sending those roots into the earth.
Many people,
When you say,
Picture a tree,
They see a trunk and limbs and branches and perhaps leaves and flowers or even fruit.
But actually under the earth is another big part of the tree,
Sometimes even bigger than the one on top of the earth.
So let's send those roots deep,
Deep down into the living,
Breathing Earth.
As we breathe in,
We're sending.
We are gathering chi.
From the bottom.
Of our feet from the living,
Breathing earth.
And as we breathe out,
We retain.
We don't let go of the chi.
We keep it in our body.
This very powerful healing yin chi from the earth.
So let's do that for a few minutes.
And feel it coming from the bottom of your feet all the way up through your legs,
Your thighs.
Your torso all the way up to your neck.
In your head and all the way to the very top of your head.
Filling your whole body with this.
Powerful yin healing energy of the living,
Breathing earth.
The reason this is good to do next to trees is that we can entwine.
And our roots with the roots of the trees around us.
We know now that trees actually communicate through their root system.
Their root system is hopefully entangled with the root system of other trees and they communicate back and forth that way.
And so,
This is a way that we could possibly communicate with the trees around us.
And even if we're sitting on the 39th floor of an apartment building in New York City,
We can still send these energetic roots from the bottom of our feet,
Way down through all the floors,
Into the basement,
Into the earth under the basement.
Another great use for this kind of practice is if you're feeling anxious,
Say you're sitting in the dentist's office waiting to go in for your root canal,
And whenever you're feeling kind of upset or unrooted or ungrounded,
Do this practice.
Even for five minutes,
You will be amazed at the difference.
It will allow your whole nervous system to settle down.
I use this practice a lot when I travel.
I love to travel.
The part I'm not really crazy about is when the plane is taking off I'm in this metal tube going straight up to 30,
000 feet in the air.
And so before the takeoff,
I sit and just for three to five minutes,
I send my roots deep into the earth so that when that plane takes off,
I still feel strongly connected to the earth.
So I encourage you to try these.
Try this practice in different experiences,
Different times in your life.
See how you might get a different feeling or a different chi effect.
So let's just do this for a few more minutes here.
And another thing you can do with this practice is anything that you want to release energetically,
Emotionally,
Psychologically.
Send release that kind of feeling and energy and experience down through those roots in deep into the living breathing earth.
The earth will receive it.
It doesn't hurt the earth,
The earth will just receive it.
So let's do that for a few minutes.
You can release whatever fears or anxieties you have.
The stronger we are grounded in our root system.
Will be like that strong tree.
That can stand against all kinds of storms.
And even when its limbs are shaking and some of the limbs may even be broken,
The trunk,
The root of the tree will remain strong.
Our energetic root will remain strong.
Another thing we can do is.
As we're drawing the good healing yin chi of the earth through the bottom of our feet,
We can connect to the celestial tree,
The yang energy of the sun,
The moon,
The stars,
The whole celestial or heavenly realm.
And we're breathing that through the very top of our head,
Through our bi-higher crown chakra.
And we're breathing it all the way down into our lower dantian,
In our lower abdomen.
Where it mixes from the healing yin energy we are receiving from the earth.
And the yang energy from the heavens,
The yin energy of the earth,
Start doing a dance together like a great spiraling yin and yang.
In my next video here,
I will explain more about the deeper meanings of the whole word.
Image,
Teaching,
Experience,
Practice of yin yang.
But for now,
We're breathing in from the earth down,
Yang energy down from the heavens.
Dancing together in our lower abdomen.
This kind of practice in Taoism is called ne dan or inner alchemy.
And I will be offering a whole course on inner alchemy.
So remember,
The more grounded.
.
.
The more rooted you are.
The stronger your energetic body is,
The much easier it will be to deal with obstructions,
Challenges of your life.
So I recommend you do this practice regularly,
Especially in the beginning.
And you can,
Of course,
Do it much longer than I'm doing here.
This is just a short introductory video.
And then to end the practice,
We bring our palms together and rub them briskly together 36 times.
Really heating them up.
And then place your palms over your eyes and breathe the warmth of your palms.
We call the Lao Gong points.
All the way into your eyes,
Bringing some healing chi to your eyes,
To your eyeballs even.
And then breathe the healing chi all the way into the center of your brain.
Where you have a very tiny,
Yet very powerful gland called the pineal gland.
Which regulates your endocrine system,
But it's also associated with psychic ability.
And we'll do more with this gland on the next video,
Where we'll be working with the hall of light or middle eye.
And then just rub your hands up and down your face very gently to bring yourself out of the meditative state.
I will be sending you all new videos very,
Very soon,
And I hope you enjoyed this one.
And if you have any questions,
You can go to Insight Timer to the groups page.
My group page,
Which is free.
And it's Taoism spelled with a D slash Taoism with a T.
And if you have any questions about any of these videos that I'm putting up,
You can ask me there,
And I'd be happy to follow up.
So see you next video.
