We often associate "freedom" with money. We might even believe that once we have the money, or the relationship, or the right job, or whatever else we've attached to it, we finally become free... Is that actually true? There are so many concepts, ideas and beliefs around this topic (especially in the spiritual world). Let's unpack and explore deeper what TRUE freedom actually means, why you should thrive for it, and how you can attain it! This episode was recorded live on November 28, 2022.

I love to connect with you and this show is for you.

Today's topic is the true meaning of freedom.

Let's talk about freedom.

I talk with a lot of people obviously in my travels,

In my work,

With my clients,

With friends and freedom is often an important subject or topic.

A lot of,

I hear people often say I want to be more free,

I want to have more freedom and then we talk about it,

We dig a little deeper.

So I wanted to talk about this today because my sense,

Especially this year that I've been traveling so much,

The misconception that people sometimes have of the things that you can do or the freedom that you might have or not have.

And obviously this is my experience,

This is my take on.

I hope it will inspire you or you will have an insight.

But obviously it's mine,

It might resonate,

It might not resonate with you,

You pick and choose.

I invite you to take anything that resonates with you today as an inspiration,

As a motivation.

And even the things that you might reject or that you might disagree with or judge,

Use those as well because often those have hidden gems for us as well.

Whether you like what you hear or not,

Either way you're going to have something that you can dig deeper with.

As you know,

I'm still in Europe,

I'm still in Cyprus and I am excited for what's coming next that I will share soon.

I invite you to take a deep breath and let's jump right in.

Before I share what I see and believe that true freedom is and why you should actually thrive for it and how to attain it,

Let me ask you a question.

What does freedom mean to you?

To you personally?

Take a moment,

Tune in.

What does freedom mean to you?

And maybe you even want to write it down real quick.

Just a few bullet points,

A few words without overcomplicating it.

What does freedom mean to you?

I'm going to give it a moment.

Don't just listen,

Do it.

You will get more out of it.

If you feel open to share,

Share with me in the comment section and otherwise just for yourself.

What does freedom mean to you?

What I often get is that freedom is often associated with financial freedom,

With money of some sorts in some way or another.

Now,

Financial freedom is fantastic.

And being financially free is obviously a goal that is worthwhile to work for.

However,

I am really astonished how many people believe that they are not free because they don't have the money.

If that is you,

I hope that I'm going to inspire you to maybe get a new perspective on things.

Freedom can show up in many different ways.

And for me personally,

And also in the work with clients that I have been working with,

Men and women and couples over the last two decades,

Inner freedom is a very important piece of work.

I want to share something funny real quick,

Because when I said often it's associated with money.

I don't remember the many times throughout this year that I've been traveling since February.

And I mention it to someone or I talk to some of my friends or someone that I haven't talked to in a while.

And I get comments like,

Sonia,

Do you have a money tree in your garden?

I got a message today,

Really sweet,

From a friend that hasn't been following me for a while.

And he said to me,

Wow,

Sonia,

You lead a very interesting life.

Are you a billionaire princess from Germany with those Spanish roots and never told me.

I'm only sharing this with you because I get this a lot.

When you travel by yourself and you live your dream or you live your life or whatever that looks like,

That is maybe not the norm.

People think or associate that you might have to have tons of money.

Right.

So it's not the case.

I mean,

I have money.

Don't get me wrong,

But especially a few people that I have in mind that told me friends who are way more successful than me and have way more money than me.

And they think that I am the rich person because I'm traveling and I'm living the life that I live.

That just as a little side note,

What is freedom?

Because once you have money.

Now,

Let me back up.

I've seen both and I have been both.

Whether you have money or not,

Some people have money and are not free.

Some people don't have money and are free.

Some people have money and are free.

And some people,

Assuming they don't have a lot of money or enough money and are not free.

So there's all of these elements.

I'm not going to talk about money too much today.

I just wanted to make a point that often that is associated with freedom.

So what is true freedom and why should you really thrive for it?

Here's what I tune in and the clients that I've worked with and the people that feel this inner freedom is what I see.

So freedom,

True freedom means you live and you do what is in alignment with you without worrying constantly of what other people think.

Without asking permission,

Justifying,

Apologizing.

True freedom means to say no when something is not in alignment without feeling guilty.

True freedom is to change your mind if it's not in alignment or something changed and you visited it and you don't just follow something because you feel obliged.

Being free or true freedom means that you have the freedom to respond to something,

To a trigger for example,

Or to rejection or obstacles versus just reacting to it out of automatic pattern.

True freedom is that even if you are anxious,

If you are dealing with depression or severe anxiety or obstacles in your life,

You still take the steps to move forward.

Whether that is supported from the outside or not.

So these are just,

I'm just bringing a few things up that come to mind and please engage with me.

Let me know what you think.

Let me know what freedom is for you and I'm going to look into the comments in just a moment.

True freedom means that you stop comparing yourself and you live your life and you don't think that someone else is always better off than you.

True freedom means that you can communicate your needs.

True freedom is to make a choice even though you're afraid of the consequences.

True freedom is that you trust yourself.

True freedom for me is inner freedom.

And when you have that inner source,

Then of course you know you create the life.

And inner freedom also means that you all by yourself,

When you are by yourself,

When no one is looking,

That you feel centered and grounded and good within yourself.

Freedom is to understand and to embody that you are more than your body,

That you are more than your thoughts,

That you are more than what you do and what you perform,

That you are this beautiful soul living in this life,

Having the experience of all of what life encompasses.

And that word encompass,

The whole spectrum of life,

Let's say that.

Now I want to ask you,

Now that you've heard a few things,

Do you agree?

Do you disagree?

What does true freedom mean for you?

And I want to share a few of what you said here.

True freedom or freedom is to be in alignment with myself,

To be connected.

Beautiful.

Not having to ask for permission.

Yes.

This is good stuff.

Thank you.

I love how you define freedom.

Thank you.

You have to organize your life around you in order to be able to live your freedom.

Exactly.

Yes,

Yes,

Yes.

Okay.

Self-government.

Yes.

Freedom.

Freedom for me is free from oppression and the ability to make my own choice and happiness.

Joy of just being me.

Yes.

Yes,

That's right.

Encompass.

Thank you.

Gorgeous speech.

Thank you.

I agree.

Good.

Now I want to take this beyond yourself.

And I am very aware that not everybody is as privileged as you and me right now.

And there are an enormous amount of people in the world that fight for their survival on a daily basis and don't have the luxury or the freedom that a lot of us have that grew up in a country or in a place where there's no war.

And there is so much healing yet to be done in the world.

There's so many,

So many systems and structures that are really not working or not healthy.

So there's a lot of healing still to be done and wounds.

And when it comes to race or gender,

There's a lot still to be done.

There's a lot of healing and it's already happening,

But it's slowly.

But why is it important for you yourself to thrive for your inner freedom?

I believe that the world needs more people that are autonomous,

That are responsible within and that are listening to their own voice and to their own wisdom.

And they walk their own path,

That walk their own path because that will influence the world as well.

As long as we are caught up in construction of beliefs,

Generational baggage,

Patterns that are holding us back from moving forward in the most aligned way.

We are not as good as a contribution as if you are free within yourself.

Does that make sense?

So you should not only thrive for it because it will benefit you in your own life.

Because if you are not free within,

If you don't feel freedom and love and confidence and trust in who you are and you can live that.

You are not going to create an invitation and inspiration to the next generation or even this generation.

So,

Yes,

It is very selfish to want to attain your own freedom.

And at the same time,

I believe it's an enormous contribution to a better world.

So that's why it's important for you to define what is freedom for you,

To thrive for it,

And then to attain it in some way.

I also want to say something real quick as for freedom.

And that might sound at first a bit discouraging.

However,

Freedom for me is also to be able to live and take the truth and to not be attached to things being the way you want them to be.

What I mean by that,

As long as we are in this human body,

In this human incarnation,

In this world where we collectively move through programming that is so old over generations and patterns and systems,

There is a certain amount that we are in it.

So you're not going to have ultimate freedom unless we leave our bodies again and go to the dimension that we came from,

Whatever your belief system is.

And I'm okay with that.

As long as you know that there is something that you can do and there are certain things that you are just meant to experience as a collective,

Because you are a puzzle piece of this whole organism called Earth,

Called planet,

This world.

So you're part of it,

You're not separate.

You might not be ultimately free all the time and you have this concept or illusion of complete free will.

I don't know if that is true,

Because we are all connected.

And as long as we have a body,

We have also attachments,

But the intensity of it,

And how much it's running you,

That is the difference between having freedom or being caught up and being like on autopilot.

So let that sink in for a moment,

Take a breath.

Let me know what's resonating with you.

And also,

How to attain that freedom.

And obviously if you have followed me for a while or you are watching this tells me that you're interested in inner work that you are someone that wants to grow.

In order to achieve that inner freedom,

You get to do the inner work.

It's very simple.

I'm not saying it's easy.

I'm not saying it's going to happen overnight.

But the solution is pretty simple.

First define what freedom is to you,

Not only on the outside,

You can put it outside.

It's like,

Okay,

I want to have this amount of money,

I want to have this,

Whatever you believe that is attached to your freedom.

Some people say,

Oh,

Once I have that amount of money,

I'm free.

Once I'm in a relationship,

Then I have the freedom to do this once my kids are in college,

I have the freedom to do that.

And some of it is true.

And you can make a conscious choice.

I know women that I've worked with in the past who had children or have still children,

And they chose to stay at home and not take care of their own dreams until their children went to college.

And that's fine,

Because it was a conscious choice.

But often it's not a conscious choice.

And we use the outside as an excuse.

Traveling is a good example.

I am not rich.

I don't have a money tree.

And I'm sadly not a Spanish princess.

I have more money now that I had years ago.

And yet,

I did not wait until I had the money to do the things that I wanted to do.

I started my journey and did things that were important to me when I didn't even know how to pay my rent.

And the anxiety around money doesn't change,

Even if you have more money.

It's an inside job.

It's an inside job.

And I know it doesn't need to be traveling.

It doesn't even need to be a big thing.

It doesn't even need to be anything that costs,

That you have to invest too much money,

Anything.

It's like,

What is freedom to you?

Like when you break it down deep inside,

What does it mean for you to be free?

Identify that.

Get a sense for it.

Write it down so that you have something to work towards.

And then do the inner work.

And if you have someone that you work with,

Great.

And if you want to educate yourself and work on yourself as much as you can,

There's so much free.

There's so many free resources.

I mean,

Me alone,

I have like tons of pro classes and shows and meditations that you can use on a daily basis.

But you get to do the work.

You get to do the work.

And not everybody is willing and able to do that.

And that's okay too.

You want to be honest with yourself.

What is freedom to me?

Why is it important for me to achieve it?

And how can I achieve it?

Freedom means to mess up and be okay.

Freedom means to let go of perfectionism.

Freedom means that even if you are aware that you have an inner critic,

It's not robbing your joy anymore.

Freedom is that even if you get rejected,

You still go move forward and ask someone that you like to get out or go out with you.

It's just like the freedom to speak up,

The freedom to say your truth,

The freedom to just be without having to constantly justify,

Apologize,

Or explain why you do what you do.

And that doesn't make you less of a loving person.

I am a very loving person.

I care tremendously.

I care tremendously about life,

About the world,

About my clients,

About my family,

About my friends.

I care.

And you can care and you can be loving and you can take care of your family and your partner and your business and be free.

So this is what I have for you today.

I would love to hear from you.

What is your takeaway for today?

What are you hearing me say that is landing?

One takeaway,

One comment,

One feedback,

One question.

Take a moment.

Take a deep breath.

Take a sip of water.

Check your notes and leave me a comment below.

And if you're listening to this on a podcast platform or inside timer or somewhere later on,

Send me a message.

Write me a review.

I love,

Love engaging with you.

Here's another,

What freedom means,

Free from obligation.

It's purely a state of mind.

Yeah,

It's a state of mind and it's more than that.

It's the capacity to energetically hold that space.

And it's also an emotional state that you have emotional majority and the capacity to handle and respond to triggers.

Right.

So the inner child work is very important here.

Deep inner child work,

Trauma work.

All the things that are blocking you also energetically.

That's the inner work.

It's the inside job.

It's the most rewarding.

I'm going to share a few takeaways and I'm going to let you get going for today.

One takeaway here is not having to explain,

Justify or tell another why you do what you do.

Wonderful.

Another takeaway.

Breathing is freedom because of the joy of life.

Beautiful.

Another takeaway here.

Freedom aligns me with my higher self.

So self.

What an easy and powerful gift.

Thank you.

Always my pleasure.

Thank you.

And the last one I'm going to share for now.

Freedom can have so many different meanings for everyone.

Yes,

Absolutely.

A hundred percent.

When we define our freedom,

This is helpful in achieving it.

Yes.

Beautiful takeaway.

Yes.

And so important.

Freedom is it's so personal,

Is so intimate,

Is so different.

For one person,

It might mean create their own business.

For another person might mean to travel the world.

For another person,

It might mean to stop taking care of everybody else and putting yourself first.

It can be anything and it can mean so many different things.

So defining it for yourself first is very,

Very important.

And your sense of what freedom is to you does not have to be the same.

So no comparison there either.

Stop comparing,

Stop self-judgment,

Do the inner work,

Peel off the layers that are keeping you from really being in alignment with your soul,

With your wisdom,

With your love.

And you will make a real contribution in the world.

And I know that a lot of you and a lot of people here in my community,

You are coaches,

You are healers,

Or you have a heart that wants to help and to want to help this world to be a better place.

And I believe that this world needs more people that are alive and that are autonomous and independent thinkers versus just being caught up in the illusion of the self.

And the programming that we've been injected from very early on.

Thank you for being here today.

As always,

I appreciate you.

I love you.

Use the rest of the day to tune into what does freedom mean to you and take one little step today.

Just one step,

Just one step into that direction.

And if you resonate with me and my work and you feel that you want to have more support and you're looking for a coach and a mentor that's going to do the deeper inner work with you,

That's going to help you to peel off those layers,

You're ready to remove those chains.

Send me a message.

I have one spot open to work with one beautiful soul in private.

So send me a message.

Let's chat and see if we are a good fit.

Until then.

Much love.

Have a fantastic rest of your Monday.

A wonderful start to your week and come back next Monday for a new episode of Soulpious Monday.

Much love.
