Welcome to 555 for folks who say they don't have time to meditate.

I am Shelly Nicole.

I'm a yoga teacher,

Reiki Master,

And Crystal Energy healer.

I was introduced to this technique by my pastors at Celebration Spiritual Center.

After trying this for myself,

I thought it would be a great idea to share and co-facilitate this practice with others.

So what does 555 stand for?

Five minutes of affirmative reading,

Five minutes of affirmative writing or journaling,

And five minutes of meditation.

This is all you need to jumpstart or maybe even close your day.

For these sessions,

I will be reading from Iyanla Vanzant's classic Acts of Faith,

Daily Meditations for People of Color.

This book also has writing prompts,

Which I will share to help jumpstart your journaling practice.

You don't have to be a POC person to participate,

But note that sometimes we will be centered.

The readings will usually be less than five minutes,

But we will definitely take five minutes to write or journal and five minutes in meditation.

Thank you for being here and let's begin.

We're reading today from Acts of Faith,

October 15th.

No matter what you see,

There is always more.

Dennis Kimbrough.

Take a ring of keys,

Place them in front of you.

What do you see?

Keys,

Right?

Wrong.

What is a key?

What does it represent?

A way in,

A way out,

A home,

A car,

Employment,

Businesses making keys,

Providing shelter and protection for families,

A steel mill,

Workers burning ore,

Machines creating heat,

Extracting metal used for keys,

Migrant workers in mines,

Minimal wages,

Providing food,

Small villages with dusty roads,

Ragged huts that don't need keys,

Steel industry,

Inheritance,

Caviar,

A Jaguar,

Mansions with many doors,

Many locks that need many keys,

Hot steel being shaped,

Not enough air,

Black lung disease,

Fire extracting metal,

Interstate travel,

Truckers moving metal,

Making machines to make keys.

The key is never what you see.

There is always more.

Affirmation,

I am not fooled by appearances.

The best is yet to come.

Our writing prompt a reflection for today.

Describe the locks and the keys in your life.

What door are you ready to open?

Describe the locks and the keys in your life.

What door are you ready to open?

We'll take five minutes in silence to journal or write about what doors you are ready to open.

You you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you thumbs at the sternum bowing forward to your inner teacher thank yourself for taking this time for yourself today namaste

This session was beautiful and such an I opener for me. I will be adding the 5 5 5 method to my meditation practice. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful. Simple. Effective. For anyone who journals or meditates for longer, you can just back up the track to give you more time with the music or just pause. But if you need a quick practice this is perfect. Looking forward to checking out more from Shelley Nicole.
