Nowadays we run after happiness,
But we don't enjoy our lives.
There are so many things we have achieved,
But we don't find time for reflection.
And the clock is ticking,
Anxiety arises,
And off we go for our next goal.
But when is the best moment to appreciate the little things,
The small pleasures in life?
And that's the secret to a fulfilled life actually,
To appreciate everything that happens,
Especially the little things,
The ones that we take for granted.
Personally,
To feel gratitude,
Appreciation for what I have,
To feel fulfilled and more connected with life,
I do a simple practice every evening before I go to bed.
And the good news for the busy people is that it only takes one to minutes,
So there are no excuses here.
So what I do is that I close my eyes and I scan my whole past day,
From the moment I wake up till the moment that I do this gratitude exercise.
And as I scan my day,
I think of all the things that have happened,
Like eating my breakfast,
My tasks at work,
Taking the train,
Meeting a friend,
Anything that has happened,
Regardless whether it's big or small.
And for each one of these events,
I focus on my heart area and feel gratitude for having the opportunity to experience them.
I encourage you to try this just for a week and see for yourself how being grateful can really transform your life.
