
Visualization To Let Go And Heal Past Hurts
Listen to the soothing voice of Steve Burgess as he guides you in this lovely visualization in which you'll use your imagination to let go of things from your past which are still hurting you emotionally. After relaxing, you will be invited to empty your emotional backpack into a hot-air balloon and release those negative feelings into the sky. As you do so, don't think about the things that caused the hurts, just imagine each hurt in a symbolic way so you can stay disassociated from the negative memories. You will then visit a temple and "anchor" in your calmness with 2 fingers pressing together. Disclaimer: these recordings are not meant to be a substitute for medical or psychological help. Hello,
This is Steve Burgess from Hypnotherapy For All.
Thank you for choosing this recording.
I hope you enjoy listening to it and you find the visualisations,
Suggestions or affirmations helpful in your quest to feel good.
Now,
Before you play the recording,
Make sure you won't be disturbed for the next little while.
Turn off your phone and find somewhere comfortable to sit or lay with your eyes closed.
Obviously,
Do not play the recording whilst you are doing anything that requires concentration,
For example driving or operating machinery.
If you have a history of psychiatric illness,
Before you listen,
Check with your doctor that it is ok for you to do so.
It is just a pleasant state of relaxation,
So if you need to come back to full awareness or respond to anything happening around you before the recording is finished,
Simply count yourself up in your mind from 1-10 and open your eyes.
So when you are ready to begin the process of relaxing,
Allow your eyelids to close down over your beautiful eyes and just take a few moments to get a sense of where you are in space and time.
Perhaps you can focus for a few moments on background sounds and noises.
Not judging,
Not analysing,
Just listening to background sounds and noises.
Knowing that as you are experiencing this process of relaxation,
You can let go of any sounds and noises that you wish to.
And it may be that whatever you hear from now on actually helps you to go deeper into relaxation.
Of course there are so many ways to relax,
But just focusing on imagining muscles around your body relaxing is a very pleasant process.
So let's just begin by imagining a wave of relaxation flowing down,
All the way down through your body.
Imagine you can feel muscles in your forehead and face and jaw just going loose and smooth and relaxed.
Resting your eyelids,
Perhaps just feeling your eyelids heavily,
Comfortably relaxed.
And imagine a wave of relaxation moving down into the back of your neck and shoulders and all the way down your back,
Down your spine,
All the way down to the lower part of your back.
And just allow the muscles in your arms to loosen and relax.
Just imagine your arms are all loose and limp and relaxed.
Then just imagine your breathing relaxation down,
All the way down through your chest into your stomach.
And just for a few moments,
Let your mind rest on the rhythm of your breathing.
Just become aware of the gentle rising and falling of your breath,
As though each gentle breath that you take helps you to relax more and more deeply now.
And just imagine relaxation moving all the way down through your legs,
From your hips,
Down through your knees,
Right the way down to the tips of your toes.
And just get a sense of your body loosening,
Softening,
Either sitting or laying.
Perhaps also a sense of yourself drifting deeper and deeper into relaxation.
Now,
Aware the whole time of the sound of my voice.
Perhaps you can feel a sense of calmness and a sense of peacefulness inside.
And as you're relaxing in this very pleasant way,
Perhaps from time to time,
Drifting even deeper into relaxation.
I'd like you to imagine and visualize in your mind's eye that you are walking along a beautiful country lane.
As you do so,
Make your surroundings as beautiful as you would like them to be.
Imagine a warm summer's day.
And see all the colors in this beautiful place.
And the clear blue sky as it shines down around you.
Imagine you can hear the sounds of nature,
Perhaps birdsong,
Or leaves gently rustling in the trees,
Or vegetation gently rippling in a pleasant,
Gentle,
Warm breeze.
Now you are just walking along this country lane on a warm summer's day.
But as you're walking along this country lane,
Which represents your life,
Imagine that you are carrying a large,
Heavy backpack on your back.
Notice the weight of this backpack,
Weighing you down,
Slowing you down.
As you try to walk freely along the lane of your life.
This backpack contains all of your negative,
Unwanted feelings.
Feelings in your body and emotions,
Which you've been carrying with you throughout your life,
From past negative events.
Feel the heaviness of the backpack,
Weighing you down.
Perhaps even the straps of the backpack cutting into your shoulders as you move along.
You might even notice that,
As you turn and look behind you,
You can see times on this country lane of your life,
When the weight of that backpack has brought you to your knees,
Or stopped you from moving freely through your life with joy and ease.
But imagine now that you've reached a point on this country lane,
Which remember represents your life and this point represents right now in your life,
This present day,
This present time,
This present moment.
And see at the side of the lane,
There is an open gate,
Which leads into a beautiful meadow.
Step off the lane and walk through that open gate.
And see in the middle of the meadow stands a large,
Colorful hot air balloon with a big basket beneath it.
Large ropes hold the balloon down.
Walk over to the balloon.
And when you're next to the basket,
Drop your heavy backpack to the ground.
And hear the thump as it hits the ground and feel a sense of relief.
Now open the backpack.
And one by one,
Imagine taking out the contents of the backpack,
Which represent your unwanted feelings.
And place them in the basket.
Now each of those unwanted feelings,
Don't get wrapped up in memories that have created them.
Just be aware that you're taking out something negative.
Perhaps it can be a symbolic thing.
You can take some rocks out of the backpack,
Which represent unwanted feelings,
Or something else symbolic.
With each of the objects or the rocks that you put into the basket beneath the balloon,
Feel a greater and greater sense of release.
And feel your negative feelings decreasing more and more.
So just enjoy this process.
Take all the time you need to empty the backpack now as I remain silent for a little while.
When you hear my voice again in a few moments time,
Imagine that backpack is completely empty.
And you can feel your negative feelings have dissolved away.
Okay,
Now that you've spent some time emptying that backpack,
Hopefully it's empty now.
But just in case,
Just check around in the backpack.
And make sure there are no missed items.
If there are,
Put them in the basket.
So now that you've emptied that backpack,
Become aware of a feeling of relief and deep peacefulness inside you.
Now,
If you like,
You can throw the backpack into the basket too.
Now notice that the ropes holding the balloon and basket down are tied to stakes in the ground.
And the four ropes from each corner of the basket are tied in such a way so as to make a large bow on each stake.
So now go to the first rope and pull the end of the rope in such a way that it pulls on the bow and releases that rope from the stake.
And see the basket lifts a little higher as the remaining three ropes take the strain.
Now,
Go to the next rope and pull it in the same way and release it.
Notice how the basket bobs upwards slightly,
And there may be some creaking from the remaining two ropes.
And now go to the next rope and release it.
And see the basket and balloon straining upwards on that one remaining rope.
And now go to the last rope and release it.
And see the balloon and the basket shoot up into the sky,
Taking with them all of those old,
Unwanted,
Negative feelings.
Perhaps you'd like to sit on the warm,
Soft grass and watch the balloon and basket floating away from you.
Watch them going higher and higher,
Being taken further and further away into the distance by the wind currents.
As they become smaller and smaller into the distance,
Notice a growing feeling of calmness inside you.
I wonder if you can begin now to really enjoy a feeling of being free from those unwanted,
Negative feelings that you used to carry with you.
And watch the balloon and basket getting further and further away from you,
Becoming smaller and smaller in the distance,
Taking away all of those old,
Negative feelings that you no longer want or need.
And finally,
The balloon and basket become so small that it's the size of a pinhead,
Before it finally disappears over the horizon,
Never to return.
So imagine now that balloon and the basket have disappeared over the horizon,
Never to return.
And in your imagination,
As you sit on the warm grass in this beautiful meadow,
Look around and notice behind you there is a woodland.
And imagine you can see a path through the trees,
And this path seems to beckon you,
It seems to draw you towards it,
So you stand up and dust down your clothes and walk over to this path.
And as you walk on this path through the trees,
Imagine you can feel yourself walking effortlessly,
Looking at the sun as it shines down through the leaves on the branches,
And perhaps you can become aware of the cleanness of the air that you breathe.
Become aware of the purity of the oxygen that is going into your lungs.
Imagine you can feel yourself breathing deeply and freely into your body.
And each pleasant breath that you take helps you to become and feel even more deeply relaxed and calm inside.
Imagine the path moves gently upwards through the trees and you easily walk up that gentle slope,
And then the path opens out into a clearing in the woodland,
And in the centre of the clearing stands a temple,
A temple of silence.
Walk across the clearing to the temple,
And as you do so notice how peaceful,
How quiet this place is.
An ageless stillness pervades the atmosphere,
For no word has ever been uttered here.
The whole place exudes tranquility and peace.
Walk into the temple,
And as you do so feel yourself surrounded by silence.
Feel the atmosphere of peace and stillness all around you.
And walk forward into the silence looking about you as you go.
And in the very centre of the temple,
Imagine you can see a large luminous dome above you,
And a vast orb of light within it,
Whose luminosity not only comes from the rays of the sun,
But which also seems to spring from within.
And from this vast orb of light,
Imagine you can see light energy shining down,
Rays of light energy pouring down,
Concentrated in an area of radiance just in front of you.
So just step forward and enter this radiant light energy,
And feel yourself becoming absorbed by it.
Feel beams of beneficial,
Warm,
Healing light energy pouring down around you,
Over you,
Enveloping you.
Filling you with a luminous silence and quietness which flows through your veins,
Permeating every cell of your body.
Imagine you can feel every atom,
Every molecule of your body,
Mind and spirit being healed and filled with this healing light energy.
So just remain in this luminous silence,
Allowing yourself to feel the healing light energy to pour down around you,
Over you and into you.
Allowing yourself to be healed by this light energy,
And become very aware of a deep sense of peacefulness inside you as you do so.
I'll leave you in silence for a few moments now.
I want you to know that this temple is in the very centre of your being,
And it can never be touched or affected by anything that happens on the outside of you.
It's always been there,
This place of perfect silence and peace.
And from this day on,
You're going to become more and more aware of this feeling of calmness and ease inside you.
This feeling of calmness is going to grow more and more each day,
Becoming stronger and stronger,
Allowing you to feel calmer at ease with yourself and the world,
No matter what's happening in your life.
As you feel this calmness now,
Just anchor it by just squeezing a thumb and finger together on one of your hands.
So just stay in this healing temple,
Feeling the calmness,
With the thumb and finger just squeezed gently together to anchor that feeling.
As I remain silent for a few moments.
Okay,
Now just let the anchor open,
Just open the finger and thumb.
And as you're aware of this feeling of calmness inside you,
This perfect peace and calmness in the temple of silence,
You can feel in the future at any time.
Just reactivating the feeling of calmness by either visualizing the temple and imagining the temple,
Or just gently squeezing your thumb and finger together to fire the anchor.
So as you do this,
These good feelings of calmness will spread through and around your body and mind,
Allowing you to feel at peace,
No matter what you are doing or wherever you are.
So at any time in the future,
Whatever's happening in your life,
In order to just reactivate these feelings of peacefulness,
Just either visualize the temple of silence,
Or just squeeze the thumb and finger together to fire the anchors.
So all of those good feelings will just then flow through your body and mind.
So when you're ready now,
I'm going to ask you to begin to slowly leave that area of radiance and walk back through the temple,
Very aware of the feelings of stillness inside you.
If you wish to,
You can leave a gift before you leave,
Perhaps a symbolic gift for the healing that you've received here,
A gift that is your way of saying thank you for the healing.
So now begin to leave the temple and walk back across the clearing,
Feeling as if you're floating on air.
Walk back through the path through the trees,
Breathing clean,
Fresh air deep into your lungs,
And then back into the meadow,
Feeling deeply relaxed.
And then walk back onto the lane of your life and walk into your future,
No longer carrying a backpack,
Noticing a sense of freedom and lightness inside you as you do so.
And as you walk along the country lane of your life into your future now,
These good feelings can remain with you the whole time you're walking into your future.
Now,
In a few moments time,
It will be time to start coming back to today,
Tomorrow,
And all the good days just around the corner.
As I count up to 10,
With each number,
Come back little by little.
And then on the number 10,
Come all the way back to full awareness,
Bringing back with you feelings of calmness,
Ease,
And lightness.
And take these feelings away with you,
Let them remain with you for long after this session is completed.
So let my voice go with you now,
And gently and slowly start coming back from 1,
Gently up to 2,
With each number becoming more and more aware to 3.
Slowly up to 4,
Gently up to 5,
All the way up to 6,
Coming back more and more alert now.
Gently back to 7,
All the way up to 8,
Right the way back to 9.
When you're ready,
Take some nice slow deep breaths as we come back to number 10.
Have a good stretch,
Open your eyes and feel good now.
