I'm Tiffany and this is Theory 25,
Dreams,
Self-Processing.
Recall,
If you will,
The metaphorical memory vines from the theory of projection.
We know their purpose is to catch and hold all the life experiences gathered by any of our five senses.
With all our memories securely attached in a random fashion to the memory vines,
We lay ourselves down to sleep.
Unbeknownst to us,
Something during the day sparked a memory on a particular vine.
When we enter REM sleep,
The rapid eye movement stage,
Dreaming starts.
That is when the vine with the sparked memory activates and begins to process.
Our eyes move back and forth under our closed lids and this movement fans the spark of the memory.
Our dreams are made up of all the memories on the specific vine that was sparked.
This is why sometimes we know people in our dreams and sometimes there are strangers in our dreams.
We can dream about something that happened that day and things from the past.
Remember,
Anything experienced by our five senses,
Whether it was conscious,
Peripheral,
Or unconscious,
Randomly attaches to those metaphorical memory vines.
Dreams are our brains way of processing our life experiences.
Now,
How to explain those global dreams it seems that everyone has?
Flying dreams,
Falling dreams,
Teeth falling out,
Ones where we are running as fast as we can only to have the person chasing us walking slowly and still right behind us.
How is it that people from across generations,
Cultures,
And continents report similar dreams?
I refer to Dr.
Carl Jung and his theory of the collective unconscious to explain global dreams.
Dr.
Jung's theory suggests that there is a universal pool of energy that contains information and is accessible to everyone in the world.
We unconsciously draw from this collective source of ancestral generational information and that also plays out in our dreams.
Our minds are doing sacred work while we're sleeping,
Processing not only of ourselves but also part of a deeper universal processing system that we all belong to.
