Sometimes,
I long for you,
Sometimes I wish you had stayed,
Sometimes I look for you in the spring rain,
Nourishing all that you light upon,
And sometimes I feel you as cool grass beneath my wandering feet.
I see you in every tender blossom,
At the beginning of its journey,
I see you when I sit beneath the fading light on a warm summer night,
A tent of stars holding countless wishes,
Hopes,
Dreams.
I feel you in every snowflake that melts on my tongue,
In the swirl of autumn leaves that break beneath the weight of me,
I see you in all that is,
And I feel the memory of you in my bones,
Like a petrified forest,
Once teeming with life but now so still even in its miraculous beauty,
A whisper of the mighty that was once there.
In moments of upheaval,
We can feel cast adrift,
Disconnected from our own hearts,
From the eternal thread that weaves through every living thing,
Our inner knowing and fortitude,
Our cosmic compass,
Never fret,
For it is not gone,
It is always there,
Waiting for us to be reignited,
To be tended to,
So we sit in stillness,
Eyes turned inwards,
Breathing into the moment,
Till we remember and pick up the torch again.
You began as just a flicker,
And grew quietly into a miracle.
You entered this world as a vessel for possibility,
It is your birthright,
It is your quest,
It is your purpose.
You were born with a flame dancing amongst the tendrils of your heart,
And there is no other flame like yours,
There is nothing more beautiful,
More precious,
More rare.
It is here to keep you warm at night,
And illuminates every vision you carry close,
It lights the way for play,
And whispers,
I love you,
It is in how your smile lights up a room,
And in every warm embrace that you give and receive,
In every passion you hold dear,
In every ripple of laughter that bubbles up from your belly,
And every time you turn the music up and dance just for you.
Some may be filled with terror when encountering this light inside you,
They may try and extinguish it with words that cut,
And actions that wound,
It is not your fault,
For it is only because they have lost the flame in themselves,
And it has left them cold.
Keep tending the fire within you,
Perhaps when they are ready,
They will long to huddle around it and hear your story,
How you reclaimed your gift of fire that you thought was lost forever,
How you made kindling of lessons learned,
And tinder of regrets,
And set it all ablaze with the courage that has always flowed freely in your silent spaces.
I believe in you,
I know you can nurture this flame,
I know you can tend to it,
I know you can mother it,
Even though you may have never been tended to or mothered yourself,
I know have this capacity for great love,
For great nurturing,
For great bravery,
And to use this light inside you to fulfill your destiny,
To illuminate the road ahead,
To create space for dreams and magical awakenings,
To offer up all your gifts that you carried thus far.
So come,
Sit close,
Be still,
And feel this blaze rising up in your heart,
This spark that you and you alone were born with.
Feel it rise into a bonfire,
Reaching ever higher,
Tickling the heavens and lapping at the horizon,
Feel its expanse,
It belongs to you,
You belong to it,
You belong to each other,
No one can take it away from you,
Because this is you,
Wherever you go and whatever you do,
Carry this flame with you,
Knowing that even when you can't feel its presence,
It is there,
Waiting to be reignited.
Place your hands on your heart and whisper into the sacred space we've created in the ether,
This is my gift of fire,
This is my gift of fire,
This is my gift of fire,
This is my gift of fire.
