Hi friend,
If a hot flash has brought you here,
You're in the right place.
Maybe you're standing in front of a fan Thinning yourself with whatever you could grab Pulling your hair back off your neck We're taking off a layer.
Maybe you're wondering how the room suddenly became 100 degrees.
When everyone else seems perfectly comfortable.
Whatever you're doing to make yourself feel comfortable,
Keep doing it.
You don't have to sit perfectly still.
You don't have to close your eyes.
And you don't have to make this moment look peaceful.
Just give yourself these next few minutes.
First I invite you to just let your shoulders drop Soften your jaw and relax your hands.
Sometimes when the heat begins to rise be tense right along with it We brace,
We resist,
We think,
Not again So instead of bracing against what's happening,
See if you can soften around it Take an easy breath in.
.
.
And slowly let it go.
Again,
Breathing in.
.
.
Take a little longer breath out.
Nothing forced,
Just easy breathing.
Now bring attention to the air against your skin.
Maybe it's the fan moving across your face.
The breeze of your creation as you find yourself Maybe you can feel a little coolness along the neck.
Your arms.
Yeah.
See if you can find one place on your body that feels even slightly cooler and rest your attention there.
You don't have to make the heat disappear.
You don't have to fight your body.
Just stay here with your breath.
And whatever little bit of coolness you can find Quietly remind yourself this is a wave.
I can let it pass.
Now if you can imagine yourself standing at the edge of the ocean.
Cool water moving gently around your feet.
A soft breeze against your skin.
A wave begins to roll toward the shore.
It rises.
Reaches its peak and then slowly pulls away.
Just like this moment.
The heat rises.
It peaks.
And eventually.
.
.
It passes.
You don't have to rush it.
You don't have to control it you can simply stay with yourself while it moves through Take a gentle breath in.
Slowly let it go Maybe you're frustrated or uncomfortable.
So tired of your body feeling unpredictable.
You don't have to pretend you love any of this.
You can simply be gentle with yourself while it's happening drop your shoulders one more time Soften your jaw and just feel the air against your skin.
Instead of fighting your body,
Just stay with it.
This is a wave and waves pass.
Another deep breath in.
Slow exhale out.
Notice what's happening now.
Maybe the heat has started to ease.
Maybe your breathing feels a little calmer.
Maybe even your shoulders feel softer and maybe you simply feel a little less caught up in this moment.
And if the heat is still here,
That's okay.
Give yourself another moment.
Keep the fan going.
Keep breathing.
Keep softening.
And take this reminder with you.
I don't have to fight the waves.
I can let it pass.
Again.
I don't have to fight the wave.
I can let it pass.
Whenever you're ready you can bring attention back to whatever is around you.
And remember to take your time.
And take good care of yourself,
My friend.
Until next time.
Stay cool
