Dear friends,
As you awake to the light of this new day,
You might like to offer a gratitude reflection.
You can use these words or better still your own words.
This prayer of thanksgiving can be offered to whomever or whatever you believe is the ultimate.
Spirit of creation,
God,
The universe,
The infinite,
The ultimate,
The source or ground of being,
That from which we have emerged and to which in time we will all return.
Thank you for the light of this new day.
Thank you for my ability to see,
To taste,
To touch,
To hear,
To learn,
To know and to love.
Thank you for my ability to experience life this morning.
Help me to make the most of each and every moment,
But above all help me to start this day with a profound sense of gratitude.
Today may I accept what is happening without rushing to judgment.
Let me pause and take a breath for a change.
Give me resilience when faced with what may appear as obstacles.
May I be immune to any hurt,
Either real or imagined,
And by forgiving may I let down the heavy burden of resentment.
Remind me to surrender to what is and to what cannot be changed.
Always seeking the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I must change,
And the wisdom to know the difference between the two.
May I always see the glass as half full,
Encouraging me to work with positivity and enthusiasm,
Even in those times when I might be feeling pushed beyond my limit.
Keep me uplifted so that I may be a support and an inspiration to other people,
A bridge over troubled water,
A calm port in a storm.
Help me to stop,
To pause,
To notice and give thanks for the magnificence of this world.
Remind me that even though I cannot hope to change the circumstances around me,
I can change my response to those circumstances,
And my response will help to change the world.
I pray for peace and harmony in the world.
May it begin with peace in my own heart and in the hearts of those I know and love.
I give thanks for the people whom I have encountered on the journey of life,
And for all the circumstances and opportunities which have brought me often unwillingly to where I am today.
I give thanks for all the many blessings which I have received along the way,
And in particular the people and circumstances which I now call to mind.
Welcome back.
I give thanks for every moment of happiness,
Every moment of satisfaction.
I'm thankful for my abundance,
For my health,
For the success of my family,
For my projects,
For the relationships which add purpose and meaning to my life.
As I call to mind some of the many benefits with which I'm surrounded,
I give thanks for all these benefits,
For existence itself,
And especially the hard-to-comprehend fact of my own existence.
As I awake to the light of this new day,
I'm grateful for each and every one of these blessings,
Both seen and unseen.
Today and always,
May I be grateful for it all.
Amen.
