Take a nice cup of depress in your own rhythm,
Please.
Adjust your posture to be comfortable if you haven't already.
Let your to-do list,
Your calendar,
Your worry list,
Whatever you call it,
Just fade a little bit into the far corner.
Be present in your body.
And come to me today on a journey to germination.
Germination,
What a wonderful word.
The moment at which new life begins.
Water and soil on a seed,
And just the right mixture,
The right moment.
Sunshine,
The right day.
And the seed is sitting dormant for who knows how long.
Suddenly,
Cracks open its shell.
A little tiny green something peeks out into the big,
Huge world around it.
Could be any kind of seed.
Could become a massive oak tree.
Could be a little tiny flower.
Could be a trailer that wraps around other plants.
Could be a thousand species.
But look at the moment.
You're eating the seed just for a moment.
Heart shell waiting,
Waiting,
Waiting,
Waiting for what seems like an eon.
Until suddenly,
Shifts in movement in your very own being as a seed.
And you begin to burst out.
How does that feel?
What does it do for your consciousness?
Reaching,
Reaching for the sun.
The longing and the waiting is over,
And the reaching and the growing begins.
And of course,
It's not just plant seeds.
It's any other kind of seed.
An embryo,
Human embryo.
A sea slug.
Most things germinate.
And what is that moment of germination?
See if you can feel you as the seed again,
Reaching for the sky,
Looking for moisture.
Getting ready to crack open the other side and put down roots.
What does that feel like?
Being closed,
Being tight,
Being dark.
Being ready and then opening into the unknown.
The glory of your particular species,
Whatever it may be.
Perhaps there's other seeds around.
Perhaps they're opening around the same time.
So you're going together,
Exploring together,
Knowing and learning together.
It's impossible to capture and freeze in time the moment of germination.
But it is possible to feel the sensation of it.
And not only seeds germinate,
But even ideas germinate.
Thoughts,
Creations,
Artwork,
Towers.
Everything has a moment where it coalesces together into a tight,
Tight spiral and then opens up in the opposite spiral.
Think of a moment where you as a human being have germinated something.
A project,
A business,
A building,
A garden,
A life,
A relationship.
Do all these different forms of germination have in common?
The seeking of life unto itself,
The seeking of evolution and discovery.
Curiosity,
Seeking of knowledge and wisdom,
The bursting into the unknown to discover and create.
And whether it's a 400-foot tree,
A tiny little plant,
Or a huge mammal or a tiny insect,
Or whatever you might imagine,
Germination is life and awareness.
Germination is that moment where the hand of the divine reaches in and touches that place at that time out of which life bursts.
Life of an idea,
Life of a project,
Life of a species,
But life bursting forth like a star might burst.
And even if you turn to the skies,
The birth of a star or the birth of a galaxy,
Germination,
At every scale of reality,
Germination upon germination passed down through generations.
Feel yourself now,
Not as the seed anymore,
But as the gardener,
The one that is creating the space,
Providing the water and the nutrients and the safety for germination.
What an awesome,
Beautiful responsibility to be the gardener for life,
For germination.
And everything you touch,
Feeding it with your consciousness and your wisdom.
And now imagine the seed yet to be born,
A new project,
A new idea,
A new plant.
And imagine yourself into the future,
Holding the space for the sacred germination.
And of course,
In that moment,
You become the seed again,
And you are the germination.
And when you're ready,
Give thanks and come back into the room.
And have a wonderful day.
