Tonight's extended sleep story will take you on a winter fantasy guided by the beautiful music of a symphony.
You will experience the glow of an ancient Greek love story and find a garden that seems to exist apart from time or seasons.
Find a cozy place to settle in and allow yourself to be transported on the sounds of symphonic harmonies as you drift down into a deep restorative sleep to the lingering sounds of ambient music.
Welcome to the Whispering Willow.
I am Diana and I will be your guide.
This sleepy journey will keep you relaxed for the entire night.
It will begin with a guided meditation followed by a story and then ambient music to help you stay asleep through the night.
Tonight you can feel more relaxed and more safe than you have all day.
I am here to remind you that this is your time.
You deserve this respite because you made it through another day.
There is nothing you need to do.
Simply burrow down into your bed and close your eyes allowing my voice to guide you through this winter sleep story.
Take a slow deep breath letting the air fill your lungs completely and then exhaling any tension,
Any tightness,
Any thought that doesn't serve your peace with a long audible exhale.
Do this three more times.
Inhaling and exhaling.
Inhaling.
Inhaling your deepest breath and exhaling.
Now allow your breathing to settle into a natural rhythm focusing your breath and leaving everything else at the side of your bed.
Concerns about today or thoughts about tomorrow.
They will be there when you wake.
This time is for relaxation and imagination.
With each steady breath feel your body becoming softer,
Heavier in the most comfortable way.
Sinking gently into your bed feeling the security of what's beneath you supporting you.
Allowing you to safely drift into peace and tranquility.
In front of you you notice a soft shimmering light begin to glow.
Gently at first then gradually getting brighter.
You step toward it and as you do the world around you seems to ripple and suddenly you are no longer in your room.
You are standing on the large paved entrance to a grand symphony hall.
You're dressed in formal winter attire wearing a long elegant ball gown in your favorite color and a style that makes you feel comfortable and confident.
Atop the gown you're wearing a hooded cloak made of thick black velvet and black shoes.
You feel the bite of the winter wind as it runs its icy fingers across your cheeks and you pull your heavy cloak more tightly around you feeling its soft edges brush against your ankles.
On your left you see a large circular fountain.
It has two round pools of water cascading down into a larger pool at the fountain's base.
In the center of the top pool seemingly floating there is a bronze statue depicting the birth of Apollo.
It is slightly green from the oxidation caused by its exposure to the water and air.
You notice there are large icicles hanging from its base as well as from the sides of the top two pools.
The ground is damp around you from the gentle mist rising from the splashing water.
You notice a light mist on the outside of your cloak and shoes and take a step away from the fountain to keep yourself dry.
Hearing the snow crunch beneath your shoes as you move.
As you look up you see large green trees surrounding the symphony hall.
They're thick and lush despite the winter air.
They have been planted close enough to one another that they have grown together and they have been trimmed about five feet from the ground all the way to their tops to form one large green rectangular boundary around the entire area.
Looking at them makes you feel slightly hidden and safe from the rest of the city.
The noticeable sense of security makes your body tingle with a slight feeling of warmth and you draw your cloak closer hugging yourself in its thickness again noticing how secure and safe you feel.
You turn to the right and see the enormous entrance to the symphony hall.
It's designed in a neoclassical style created from ivory limestone.
You see a set of wide stairs climbing up to a porch with six pillars.
The facade at the top of the pillars depicts Orpheus and Eurydice in a triangle-shaped pediment.
You recall that the two lovers from the Greek legend are associated with music and love and you think what a fitting theme this dramatic centerpiece is for a symphony hall.
You feel the slightest brush of warmth against your shoulders.
It is subtle at first like the soft touch of sunlight through an open window.
You pause breathing slowly and as you do that warmth deepens you turn your face upward and see the warmth unfurling into a sparkling golden ribbon falling in slow gentle waves from the couple at the top of the facade down to you.
It drifts toward you without urgency as if it has no connection with time.
When it reaches you it covers your upturned face and you smile at its soft warmth.
It rests lightly on your hands warming your fingers easing them open releasing any tightness that you didn't realize you were holding.
The ribbon glides up your wrists and along your arms wrapping them in a soft glow that feels both comforting and steady.
It settles across your shoulders easing their weight then flows over your chest where it gently expands and softens your breath creating a sense of openness and ease.
As it continues downward the golden light spills across the stone steps beneath you tracing their edges illuminating the subtle textures in the limestone and catching on the thin veil of winter mist in the air.
It pools briefly at your feet warming the ground below before drifting onward to surround the fountain shimmering as it passes through the falling water each droplet catching the light and scattering it into tiny prismatic sparks.
You recognize this ribbon of light as the love between the couple gently cascading outward and downward enveloping you reminding you that true love never stays contained but moves quietly through and around others reaching much further than where it began.
As you continue through the pillars and into the symphony hall the quiet deepens around you and you are impressed by the solitude here.
Your footsteps soften and before long you find yourself standing in a spacious courtyard open to the sky.
Though the air here should be cold it feels comfortably warm and spring-like and you sense that this place exists outside the usual rhythm of seasons.
It is daylight here though it was nighttime in the place you just left.
Above you clouds drift slowly across the open sky and sunlight filters down through the leaves flickering softly across the stone beneath your feet.
You remove your cloak and fold it over your arm noticing how comfortable the air feels against your skin.
The courtyard is alive with quiet sounds a stark contrast with the silent coldness of the place you just left.
Birds sing from hidden branches their calls light and unhurried.
Leaves rustle softly as a warm breeze moves through the trees and somewhere in the distance you hear the faint murmur of flowing water steady and reassuring.
As you walk along the stone path your steps feel smooth and grounded.
Soft patches of moss line the edges of the walkway and the stones beneath your feet hold the warmth of the Sun.
The air carries the subtle perfume of blooming flowers hints of roses and fresh greenery gentle enough to soothe without overwhelming.
You slow even more reaching out to brush your fingers along the leaves as you pass.
Their surfaces feel cool and smooth and a few petals drift lazily through the air floating down around you before settling quietly on the ground.
In the heart of the courtyard you pause beside a small wall fountain.
You dip your fingers into the water noticing its comfortable temperature and the way it feels around your skin.
Ripples spread outward from your touch moving slowly across the surface before fading away.
Comfortable seating areas invite you to sit and let the gentle play of light and shadow drift across the courtyard stone floors while the surrounding architecture tall columns and classical details that echo the hall itself frames this oasis of peace with timeless elegance.
The space feels both intimate and open a quiet garden retreat that seems to exist between seasons contrasting beautifully with the energy beyond its walls which now calls to you urging you to continue on your journey.
At the other end of the courtyard you see a door as you step through it you feel a chill and know that you've left the spring and returned to the winter.
As you turn around you look out the door you just came through and see a blanket of fresh snow on the ground.
You put your cloak back on and pull it gently around you.
For the first time you notice the sound of something beyond you and recognize it as the faint rustling of musicians tuning their instruments.
In the distance it sounds soft and delicate like the whisper of snowflakes as they fall on the forest floor.
You follow the sound and step into the inner sanctum of the concert hall.
Its ceiling arches high above gilded and glowing in ivory color that mimics the limestone on the outside of the building.
Large crystal chandeliers hang throughout the hall dim yet glowing in the evening light.
Though the walls are white the seats are rich brown wood and their polished surface reflects the warm light of the chandeliers like liquid gold.
You take a step forward and the floor beneath your feet feels soft and smooth yet firm grounding you even as your body begins to feel lighter almost weightless.
On the stage in front of you sits a full symphony poised and ready to play.
The conductor lifts the baton and the first notes of the instruments ripple through the hall.
They are soft at first like drops of warm rain falling around you each one carrying a tiny flicker of light.
The notes swirl gently forming ribbons of light that trail through the air brushing softly against your skin leaving a tingling soothing warmth wherever they touch.
The music of the string shimmers like threads of moonlight weaving through the symphony hall and surrounding you.
Your attention drifts to a single violin where one quiet note lingers.
You sense the gentle vibration of the string humming softly in the air the sound warm and steady as it settles around you easing your breath and inviting your body to soften too.
The music of the woodwinds glimmers like deep rubies as it curls around your body massaging your shoulders and arms with a gentle warmth that melts every trace of tension.
Nearby a flute releases a soft flowing note like a calm exhale.
The sound moves effortlessly through the space light and steady yet unhurried.
As it fades you notice your own breathing slow to match its peaceful rhythm.
The cellos and basses hum low and steady in a call-and-response grounding you in a deep sapphire glow wrapping around your ankles and anchoring you in this magical space with a gentle weight even as you feel like you're floating.
As you breathe in you notice that the music seems to breathe with you.
With each gentle inhale you feel light and warmth filling your body replacing any tension or anxiety.
You begin to walk slowly down the aisle closer and closer to the musicians each step in perfect harmony with the music.
With each note the hall itself seems to shimmer and shift as the colors pouring from each instrument gently combines and lifts you carrying you forward.
You feel almost weightless and as you peer down you notice that the floor beneath you has turned into a delicate rainbow cloud of color floating as tiny sparks of light drift around you.
Looking forward you notice the notes from the music have turned into glowing ivory petals swirling lazily in the delicate air brushing against your cheeks and fingertips.
Now you reach the edge of the stage you step up and the ribbons of music wrap around you and embrace you completely.
The conductor smiles inviting you to simply listen to let yourself drift.
You close your eyes and the symphony swells and with it you feel yourself beginning to float upward wrapped in a delicate cocoon of light and color.
Soft wind like currents of sound lift you slightly rocking you gently as though the music itself is cradling you.
You feel completely comfortable secure and protected in this space.
The melodies flow over you like warm water.
You feel a delicate shimmer along your skin as if the light of the hall and the sound of each individual instrument merges into a single magical presence.
Soft,
Safe,
Serene.
Reminding you that as we work together to create magic we end up with something much bigger than what we alone can make.
Every breath you take draws in the music and the magic.
Every exhale releases anything that does not belong.
Worry,
Tension,
Thoughts.
They float away carried by invisible currents of sound peaceful and serene leaving you with nothing but this moment.
As the symphony reaches its gentle climax the notes stretch out and ripple like silver satin ribbons.
You feel yourself being carried slowly effortlessly higher and higher.
You blink and the building is gone.
The walls,
The seats,
The ceiling all dissolve into glittering fairy dust falling gently around you.
But the music remains wrapping you in its warm embrace.
And as you float further and further along the music dims and you see its echoes trailing like tiny stars behind you.
The final notes linger in the air and within you like a feeling rather than a sound.
Soft and fading they soften into a quiet sense of warmth and ease spreading slowly through your chest,
Your shoulders,
Your breath.
You don't need to follow them anywhere now.
They simply remain with you dispersing naturally as your body sinks down into rest.
And you feel yourself moving deeper into comfort,
Deeper into your own body but still feeling impossibly light.
Every part of you is quiet and relaxed.
Every breath is gentle and you feel completely safe as you float downward towards sleep.
Perfectly calm,
Perfectly at peace.
You take in a deep soothing breath and feel your bed beneath you.
Your formal clothes have been replaced by soft cozy night clothes.
You pull the covers around you and sink into the pillows and mattress as rest flows over you like the softest,
Most peaceful symphony taking you deeper and deeper into sleep.
Floating you into dreams,
Carrying you down into perfect stillness,
Comfort and peace.
You hear the echoes of the symphony as you allow the memories of your evening journey to deposit you finally into blissful sleep.
Goodnight.
