Experience a moment of tranquility and spiritual connection through this brief Jewish mindful meditation focused on the theme of continuity. Rooted in ancient Jewish traditions, this meditation draws on the wisdom of Hasidic masters, guiding you to reflect on the unbroken flow of Jewish heritage and the enduring connection between past, present, and future. Whether you're new to meditation or seeking to deepen your practice, this mini-session offers insight into the spiritual continuity that binds generations together. A perfect way to start the day, take a quick break during work or do a quick reset. This practice can also be used at the beginning of a longer silent sit.

Rabbi Yosef Shaul Nathanson taught,

The teachers wonder,

Why do we recall the quality of night during the day when we recite,

Who forms light and creates darkness,

And why do we recall the quality of day at night,

Creating day and night,

Rolling away light before darkness and darkness before light.

All of them exist,

And all function at one moment,

All at the same time.

Rest your eyes,

Relaxing body and breath.

As you sit,

Notice the time of day.

As you picture or observe the world around you,

Notice how the element of light informs the time of day.

In your mind's eye,

Adjust the light,

Moving between a sense of day,

Night,

And in between,

Seeing that one includes the other.

As you shift the dial of time with your consciousness,

Feel the continuity of the breath.

With each exhalation,

An inhalation is imminent.

Rest in awareness with all that is,

Was,

And will be.
