Hi,
I'm Carolina Gonzalez.
I'm so glad that you're here.
Let's talk about meditation.
Meditation.
The world can feel.
Loaded.
Maybe you've tried.
Maybe you've thought.
I can't meditate.
My mind is so busy.
I cannot have my mind blank with no thoughts.
If that's you,
Please stay with me.
Because that thought right there is the biggest misconception about meditation.
Here's what meditation actually is.
Is a formal practice.
We sit down or lay down or we walk.
Or we choose to slow dance.
For a few minutes,
We pick something simple to focus on and anchor.
It could be the breath.
Could be a sound,
A word,
Your hands or the sensations of the body.
And then we rest our attention there.
That's it!
That simple.
You might have heard of mindfulness.
Which is the ability to be present in your life.
And mindfulness is like flexibility or strength.
Meditation is life.
Like going to the gym.
Is how you build your mindfulness muscle.
Now,
This is fascinating.
You sit down.
You focus on your breath.
And within about 10 seconds,
Your mind is somewhere else.
You may be replaying a conversation,
Planning dinner,
Wondering if you turn off the stove,
And most people think,
See?
I'm bad at this.
My mom is too busy.
Meditation isn't for me.
But.
.
.
The wandering mind is not mind.
Failure or it doesn't mean that you're not doing it properly.
The wandering mind is the practice.
The moment you notice.
Oh,
I'm thinking about dinner.
But I'm meditating and you gently come back to me.
To your breath or to your sensations,
To your anchor.
That is meditation.
That is the whole thing.
Is noticing what you've been caught up in the storyline of your mind.
And coming back gently.
Notice.
And bringing your attention back gently.
We do it kindly.
Without.
Judging ourself,
Like.
.
.
Oh,
There you go again,
Mine.
That's okay.
It's alright.
Let's come back.
So,
Meditation isn't about emptying your mind,
It's not about achieving some perfect blissful state.
It's about training yourself.
Over and over to come back to this moment.
To your body.
To your breath.
To what's in front of you,
To your life.
And in doing that,
You star.
Noticing something that your mind starts getting a little bit more settled.
And your body starts to getting used to.
Having you inhabited.
And then it starts filling.
Good.
For those of you who have been everything for everyone else.
Meditation is a small sacred space where you don't have to be anything.
You just have to be here with what's arising for you.
You don't need to be elsewhere,
Achieve anything.
So if you like it,
Let's try 30 seconds together.
Whatever you are.
Closing your eyes if that feels comfortable for you.
Or just soften your gaze.
Bringing your attention to your breath.
No need to change your breath,
Just noticing it.
Noticing the inhale.
And exhale.
And if your mind is already wandering.
That's okay.
Just invite it back to your breath.
Kindly.
That seed.
Meditation.
You just did it.
Thank you for being here with me.
May your heart be open.
And loving.
