Welcome to the Taoist Meditation.
For morning sun breathing.
This practice is especially good during summer.
But feel free to do this at any time of the year.
Set.
Quietly facing the sun.
Preferably outdoors.
But this practice may be done indoors as well if needed.
Instructions for outdoors will be given.
Ensure that you're seated comfortably with your spine straight.
Slightly.
Tuck in by pushing back the chin to ensure your head is aligned to your spine.
Your feet,
Are flat on the floor.
And your hands may rest upon your knees.
Or in your lab.
The choice is yours.
Close your eyes.
Or gently gaze.
With your eyes slightly closed.
Continue to breathe in.
.
.
And out the nose.
Breathe at your own pace.
Haze.
With each inhalation.
Feel your body.
Expanding,
With each exhalation.
Feel your body.
Retracting.
Notice and observe your body.
And how it reacts with each inhalation.
And how it responds with each.
Exhalation.
Continue to breathe softly.
Silent.
And smoothly.
Through your nose.
Now,
As you continue.
.
.
To breathe.
Bring your awareness and attention.
To the sun.
Feel the warmth of the sun.
That's radiating upon you.
Feel the light.
Feel the warmth.
Take a moment.
To simply feel.
How the sun.
Is nourishing you right now.
Continue to breathe at your own pace.
As you do so.
Begin with each inhalation.
To see.
The sunlight.
Begin to fill your lungs.
And as you breathe in this light.
With each breath.
The light begins to slowly expand throughout your body.
Now when you exhale.
Exhale either out the nose or mouth,
Whichever feels natural for you.
But with each exhale.
Feel the internal tension.
That's excess or heat.
That is access.
Begin to separate,
Break off.
And fall.
Into your lower abdomen.
At a center point.
Known as the Lower Dantian.
With each breath,
See and feel the sunlight filling and getting brighter.
And as it expands into the areas throughout the body.
See it soften the excess tension?
And excess heat.
And when you exhale.
Have this excess tension.
And heat.
Settle down.
And fall into the lower dantian,
Located in the lower abdomen.
Continue breathing.
And allowing this light.
To enter.
Expand.
Soften.
Continue to exhale.
And allow this to release excess tension.
And excess heat.
And it drives it downward,
Falling into the lower abdomen.
Continue to use this practice to allow the sun.
To aid you.
In releasing.
What's no longer necessary.
And what no longer serves.
Feel this light expand further.
Beyond the chest.
Beyond the lower abdomen.
Continue to remove tension.
Each inhalation.
Makes the sunlight.
Inside you.
Brighter.
Each exhalation.
Removing more tension.
And more excess heat.
And if you haven't already.
Begin to expand.
This light.
Down into the arms.
Each breath.
Expands it.
Soften.
And clears away excess tension.
And excess heat.
Goal is not.
More intensity.
The goal is a relaxed state.
For clarity.
Continue the cycle of inhalation and exhalation.
Expand the light further.
If you haven't already.
Have the light go down the hips.
And the legs.
See the light.
Feel the expansion.
Feel the softening.
Exhale softly.
Release the excess tension.
Release the excess heat.
And allow it to fall and settle.
Into the lower abdomen Breathing in.
.
.
The Sun's light.
Breathing out.
Release tension and heat.
And as you continue this inhalation,
Exhalation pattern.
Now expand it towards the head.
Feel the light of the sun extending upward towards the head.
Expanding and becoming brighter with each inhalation.
In any area it touches,
It softens.
And when you exhale.
.
.
It releases.
Allowing all this excess heat and tension.
To fall down into the lower.
Abdomen.
Breathing in and out.
At your own pace.
Feel your entire body.
Relaxing further.
Feel the entire body.
Releasing the heat.
Feel the entire body.
Full of this sunlight.
And as.
.
.
You continue to breathe and feel.
Now shift your awareness.
To how the seat feels underneath you.
Feel how the floor feels under your feet.
And once you're ready.
Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
And now.
.
.
Feel any excess energy that's in the head.
Begin to fall.
And settle.
Like a snow shaker that's been shaken.
Down into the heart.
Breathe in and out.
Allow the energy to settle.
Do not force it.
Observe it and have it settle.
Then continuing in this manner.
Allow the energy to settle from the heart.
Down into the lower abdomen at the lower dantian.
Don't force,
Allow it to fall and settle.
And once it's settled.
You may open your eyes.
And go about your day.
