Welcome to this meditation on Mars.
Passion,
Drive and the fire within.
Sit in a position where your spine can be upright and alert.
Place your feet flat on the floor if you're in a chair.
Feel rooted and ready.
And take a breath in through the nose.
Intentionally,
Hold it for a moment at the top and then release it fully and completely through the mouth.
And again,
Sharply in through the nose,
Deep,
Hold it for a moment and release it fully,
Completely.
And once more,
Take a breath in through the nose,
Hold it for a moment at the top and release it fully and completely.
Mars is the planet of action,
Of desire,
The part of you that knows exactly what it wants and moves towards it without apology.
Mars is not always comfortable energy,
But it is real and it's yours.
And it can be positive to work with.
So today we are going to locate your fire.
We don't want to contain it or manage it or make it more palatable.
We want to know it,
Trust it and direct it.
So,
Bring your attention to your belly,
Below the navel,
Your center of gravity,
Your physical power.
This is where Mars lives in the body.
Take in a breath that expands this space.
Let your belly push out as you inhale and feel the warmth and the weight of it.
And ask yourself,
What am I moving towards right now?
And see what comes up first.
This is not what you think you should want,
It's not what would look good or make someone else comfortable,
But deep inside ask,
What is the thing that genuinely pulls at me?
What am I hungry for?
Let whatever arises,
Simply arise.
Don't edit it.
Mars has very little patience for editing.
And now imagine that hunger as a flame in your core,
Small maybe.
Perhaps it has been a while since you fed it.
But it is there,
It is always there.
Mars energy does not go away,
It only goes underground and waits.
Let the flame grow a little.
With each inhale,
Imagine air reaching it,
Giving it oxygen.
With each exhale,
Nothing is lost.
The fire holds,
The fire builds.
Mars asks you to be honest about what you want and then to move.
Not tomorrow,
Not when circumstances are perfect,
But now.
In whatever small way is available to you,
One step,
One word spoken,
One decision made.
Mars honors motion.
And here is something important about Mars energy.
It is not aggression unless it is repressed or misdirected.
When you honor your desires,
When you give your drive legitimate expression,
When you let yourself want things openly and pursue them with energy,
The aggression dissolves and it becomes assertion because there is no other way.
There is nothing left to push against,
You are simply moving.
As we close,
Place one hand on your belly.
Feel the warmth of air.
That is yours.
That fire is yours.
Whatever you are moving towards,
Mars walks with you.
Your desire is not a problem,
It is a direction.
Take a moment before returning back to your day.
Let yourself land in your body.
Let yourself keep tending to that fire.
