Explore the deeper purpose of life through the lens of Yoga philosophy. In this session, we will explore the 4 aims of life (Purusharthas): Dharma (purpose), Artha (resources), Kama (experience), and Moksha (liberation). Rather than abstract concepts, these will be approached in a simple and practical way -- helping you reflect on how these dimensions are already present in your life, and how to bring them into balance. This session includes a short guided reflection at the end.

My name is Jorge Miguel Perfiro.

I'm from Portugal.

I'm a yoga teacher since 2011.

And for me,

Yoga is more than an activity.

It's a way of living,

Okay?

It's a style of life.

So,

In today's live event,

We are about to speak about what is that that brings a sense of meaningfulness to our lives.

And here and now,

In today's specific occasion,

It's Easter.

We are uh celebrating the the jesus christ that energy um the christian the christian energy So Easter is about a transformation.

It's about a passage to another state of being.

So in this day we all here are united we are speaking in a thing that brings awareness to our lives.

And it is said in the Bible,

Whenever one or two or five or a thousand brings,

Come together and talks about me,

I will be there with them,

With you.

So,

We say thank you,

Lord,

For this occasion and for each of one here and now.

Can be here talking and listening and feeling about this environment,

About this Christ energy.

So,

Thank you for your presence here for this topic,

For this subject.

I hope this resonates with you,

This theme.

For a meaningful life.

What is that?

Yoga,

The science of yoga,

Gives each one of us a framework in order to each one of us can live a fulfilled life in four dimensions in four aspects it doesn't mean to achieve each one of those four,

But instead of integrate that four dimensions.

So that framework,

It's called Purushatras.

And Purushastras is about four dimensions that each individual as a human being is.

.

.

Invited to live and practice in his daily life.

The first dimension is called Dharma.

The first dimension of Purushatras is called Dharma.

And dharma is about alignment.

Dharma is about what is that Pulls you forward in your life Dharma,

It's all that you do with passion,

With enthusiasm.

It is said when you are in your Dharma,

When you are living in alignment with your inner desires,

Time looks like passes fast.

Maybe you.

.

.

In some aspect of your life,

When you are doing something that you love,

With someone that you love,

Doing what you love,

Maybe painting,

Maybe singing,

Maybe dancing,

Or just walking in nature,

It seems like.

.

.

The time passes like a thunder.

Very fast.

And other times when you are doing things.

.

.

In which you are very,

Very Less motivated to be investing your life doing that Looks like the time don't pass Looks like the watch is stopped Time is slow.

So when we are living something that thrills ourselves,

When we feel passion,

We know that we are doing something that is aligned,

Aligned with our soul,

With our energy,

With our purpose.

So that is something dharmic.

Instead,

When we are doing something that we are obliged to do,

There is something adharmic.

We put an A before these.

.

.

So Dharma is all of that that is aligned with yourself.

And each one of us,

When in our childhood,

We are very natural,

Very spontaneous.

Our happiness,

Our joy simply happens.

But as we age,

The scholarship,

Family,

Society.

.

.

Uh brings to us and we assimilate that stimulus very numerous several things so we tend to pass from a state of dharma of spontaneously of naturalty to a state of being Formated.

By society.

And sometimes we disconnect ourselves from that alignment,

From that Dharma that each one of us.

.

.

As in a our inner self.

So that leads us to the second dimension of Purushastras.

That second dimension is called Harta.

And Alta about the resources that you have.

Artha,

It's not about your job.

Artha,

It's all that you do that brings you a sense of stability,

Structure.

Artha is that that you do from Dharma that brings you possibility to go further Arthur,

It's not about your job as I said.

Is all that you do that brings you an inner sense of security,

Of stability.

Without security without stability we in some way are not at ease.

So artha brings you that stability brings you that joy brings you that commitment brings you that ground that provides you to to go along for the next dimension and the next dimension is called Come on.

The third dimension of Purushasris.

Kama.

And Kama has to do with the experience.

Experience.

It's about to do about enjoyment.

It's about relationships.

It's about your ability to feel sensations,

To have pleasure in life.

That is called Kama.

Yoga does not reject,

Neither.

Harta?

Nor neither comma but includes those aspects to your daily life.

That is called.

.

.

Fulfillment be inclusive to life We can live all in life,

We can experience all in life,

But without attachment.

Without clinging to things,

You can have all experiences in life.

But none of them can have you.

And that is,

Or conducts us,

Brings us to the fourth step of dharmation,

Of.

.

.

Producers and that is called Moksha.

Or liberation.

Or without attachment.

Moksha is when you experience life without a sense of judgment,

Without prejudices,

Without making distinctments.

Between what is white what is black what is wrong what is right You can experience everything.

That is Moksha.

Liberation.

Now,

All these four dimensions or aspects Yoga invites us to include all these four aspects in our daily life.

But most of us are living our life this brief retreat because each life that we are is like a retreat we are here in planet earth for a simple amount of time and then we leave.

So in this interval of time,

In this period of time,

How are we living our lives?

How are we spending and investing our energy in order to fulfill these four dimensions?

Some of us are only living our lives In these two dimensions,

Resources.

And pleasure.

Like,

How do you say in English,

Rotunda,

Roundabout?

And we are going in circles.

The invitation of yoga is to bring into your practice,

Into your daily life,

These 4 aspects.

Dharma is about having a direction.

Most importance or more importance that achieving one goal is bring clarity to the direction that you are having because the achievement your goal depends in your direction so if we are going in circles What direction are we adding?

So it is said that yoga is the journey of the self To the self.

In the self.

Yoga is the journey of the self way I perceive myself my identity is the journey of the self to the self and That self is our inner being who am I?

Who am I before giving me a name?

What am I doing here?

What are my values?

What are my passions?

That question so those questions help you bring clarity to your dharma to your direction because your direction will bring clarity to your artha your job that that brings you a sense of stability of structure.

And then harta gives you the possibility of experience comma pleasure experience You can have everything.

A pen.

The pen.

Must not have you.

That is detachment.

Okay so Purushastras are an invitation for all of us to bring to our lives those four dimensions.

Some of us choose one dimension.

But the invitation is to bring all these four aspects to our lives.

And uh.

.

.

Uh.

.

.

Experience and have a fulfilled life with meaning.

So the invitation is bring clarity.

Who am I?

What are my inner desires?

That is the aim of Purushatras.

That is the invitation of yoga.

Yoga doesn't exclude none of those four dimensions.

Like that image of the Vitruvian man.

We all have those four dimensions Like a square.

Okay?

The practical side the mental side the emotional side and the spiritual side.

So bring these four experts to our left it's Bring clarity to a circle.

So the inner circle All of these four are united,

Combined.

And that is a symbol of the Vitruvian man.

Okay?

In the Delphos temple in Greece,

There is a phrase carved in the stone.

Know thyself.

Know thyself.

So in that journey inner journey we bring more clarity who am i to our dharma Most of us spend one life without knowing.

Without making questions,

Who am I?

Where am I going?

In the West,

Normally,

Usually Dharma only comes in further stages in life.

At east in east okay cultural speaking and there is a more um meaning significance to the aspect of Dharma.

So,

Who is more sensible to these principles of yoga or life?

Includes these dimensions in his life.

I'm gonna ask you right now a question.

An invitation to reflect upon your life simply close your eyes Make a deep breath.

And I invite you.

.

.

To bring awareness to your life.

Your house,

Your job people you will relate with.

And now.

.

.

Feel this question.

Where is there alignment in my life?

No need to answer.

Only observe.

Without judgment.

Where is there alignment in my life?

Where is Dharma?

Being lived.

In my daily life.

Another question.

Where is their stability.

In my life.

Where am I creating stability?

Am I creating stability?

Or am I just reacting?

To life.

Just observe breathing,

Watching.

Bringing clarity to that aspect.

Another question.

Where He's there Pleasure.

In my life.

Just observe.

Without judgment.

Where is there comma?

Being lived.

Thank you.

And now,

Fourth question.

Where Is there.

.

.

Freedom.

In my life.

A sense of detachment.

And still leaving life.

Again.

No judgment.

Simply It's the fashion.

Okay,

Make a deep breath.

Open your eyes.

These questions.

Help you bring more awareness.

To your life.

It is not that any of those four dimensions doesn't exist in your life.

They exist.

The question is how consciously you are living them in your daily life.

What decisions you are being invited to make in your life?

It is said,

Despite no one can go back and make another start,

Everyone of us can start now and make a different destination.

So,

The invitation is that what here and now,

Today,

Easter 2026,

This moment,

Are reflecting about myself.

And what can I do from now in order to make a different destination.

Bringing to my life those four dimensions.

Dharma,

Alignment,

Hard time.

Stability.

Comma experience and Moksha .

Everyone wants to be free,

But in order to be free,

Really free,

We must comprehend what is.

.

.

Within ourselves holding.

Ourselves hostages.

That is the invitation of the Purushastras.

Bring more clarity to those four dimensions in our life.
