Connecting to the earth element.
Let's begin by bringing our awareness down into our feet.
Notice the ground beneath you,
The steady support of the earth.
Take a slow breath and really begin to feel that connection.
Now I'd like to imagine yourself as a plant or tree.
Perhaps you feel strong and steady like an oak,
Or soft and flowing like a willow.
Or maybe you feel yourself reaching upwards like a sunflower greeting the morning light.
Just notice what feels right for you in this moment.
As you settle into that plant form,
Gently bring your awareness to your roots.
Imagine them spreading down from the soles of your feet,
Deep into the air.
Perhaps you sense the energy of the air rising up through those roots,
Nourishing you.
Or maybe you'd like to release your own energy down into the soil,
Sharing yourself with the air,
Letting it flow through you,
Through the roots to nourish everything it touches.
There is no right or wrong here,
Just see what feels natural to you.
And stay with this for a few breaths,
Stay with the connection to the earth.
And if your mind begins to wander,
That's okay,
That's what you do.
But when you're aware,
Bring your awareness either back to the air or back to your breath.
And feel yourself connected,
Grounded,
Supported,
Alive,
Alive with the air.
And when you feel ready,
Bring your awareness back into your body.
May that be the simple sensation of standing,
Of breathing,
Or just being here.
And as this meditation begins to draw to a close,
You can carry that steadiness,
That grounding,
The softness of the earth with you as you return to your day.
