Welcome.
This is Lynn.
And today's guided meditation is about healing your inner child.
As we get started,
Find a comfortable seat,
Or maybe you decide to lie down and soften.
If it feels okay,
Gently close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in,
And a long,
Slow breath out,
Feeling your body supported,
Letting go of anything that happened before right now.
Just let it go.
And bring your awareness to your body.
Noticing the feeling of the weight of your body,
The feeling of the breadth of your body,
The width,
The space that you're taking up.
And then bring your awareness to the breath.
Not changing it.
Simply noticing.
Maybe you say silently to yourself,
I am inhaling,
I am exhaling.
And with this now increased awareness of yourself,
See if you can even feel or maybe hear your heartbeat.
Take a deep inhale through the nose.
I am safe,
And I am home within myself.
And as you exhale,
Let the outside world fade away.
And now bring your attention to the you that exists right now,
This wise,
Loving adult self.
Imagine that there's a warm light glowing around you.
This light is steady,
Compassionate,
And strong.
This light comes from inside you.
And it's the light of you,
Your present self,
The adult who has learned,
Grown,
Maybe endured,
You feel this light throughout your body.
It fills your chest and your abdomen.
It flows down your limbs,
Both your arms and both your legs.
And it fills your body with this feeling of safety.
Maybe a feeling of worthiness.
I am here now.
I am me.
And that is enough.
It was always enough.
This light reminds you that you are worthy of love,
Just as you are.
Let those words sink in.
Maybe bring a hand or two over your heart,
Feeling the warmth of your own touch on your body,
Reassuring you that you can be both the nurturer and the one who is nurtured.
Take a deep breath in.
And a deeper breath out.
And now imagine that you're standing on a peaceful path.
And this path leads to a familiar place from your past.
And your childhood.
It could be a home you lived in,
Or a home you visited.
It could be a park,
Or a library,
Or even a tree.
And as you stand on this path,
The air feels gentle and yet familiar,
Almost as if you've been here before.
As you begin to take a few steps along the path,
You notice ahead,
A small figure.
Your younger self.
They don't see you yet.
They're enjoying themselves.
What are they doing?
How do they look?
How are they feeling?
You take your time.
Walking slowly.
Gently making your way towards them.
Until suddenly you realize that they've noticed you.
They look up.
They see your calm presence and your kind eyes.
But they don't know who you are.
So you look down gently and say,
I'm your grown up self.
I'm here to listen.
I'm here to love you.
How does your inner child respond?
Are they curious?
Are they happy?
Maybe there's tears of joy or relief.
Whatever comes,
Is perfect.
Whatever they tell you,
You listen without judgment,
Without guilt,
Without anything but love.
And maybe you have an urge to gently reach out your hands.
Inviting them to put their hands in yours.
And you ask gently,
What do you need right now?
Maybe you invite them to play or dance or laugh.
Just be silly.
There's not anything you can do in this moment that would be wrong.
Let them know it's safe.
They can just be.
As emotions arise,
Whatever they are,
Breathe through them.
You are witnessing yourself with compassion.
Take a great big inhale through your nose.
Hold it at the top.
Exhale,
Slowly let it go.
And now imagine opening your arms and gently holding your inner child.
Feeling their small heartbeat next to yours.
And let your golden light wrap around both of you.
Merging your energies into one warm glow.
Feeling the merging of this child self with this adult self.
Whisper softly to both selves.
You are safe now.
You are loved.
You did nothing wrong.
In the words of Santa Keith Lee,
Joy is your birthright.
The truth is,
You do deserve joy and pleasure.
And you deserve to feel good in your skin and to love yourself fully without conditions.
Allow these words to wash through both of you.
Feeling the warmth of joy,
The safety of belonging,
The power of unconditional love.
You look down and you see your inner child smiling.
Relieved.
Seen.
Free.
You are the person they always needed.
And this vision of your inner child slowly begins to dissolve into your heart.
Their light blending with yours.
You realize that you carry every age you've ever been within you.
What's shifted?
What's changed?
Take another great big inhale through your nose.
Open your mouth and sigh it out.
Begin to bring your awareness back to your body again.
Maybe wiggling your fingers and toes.
Feeling the support of what's beneath you.
When you're ready,
Gently blink your eyes open.
Take one final deep breath in.
Exhale it with a soft smile.
May your inner child rest in safety.
May your heart remain open.
May you walk gently with yourself.
Until next time.
