Transcript

Today we begin with Tadasana,

Mountain Pose.

A simple shape but a complete practice.

Stand with your feet grounded into the floor.

Feel the weight of your body settling evenly through the feet,

Heels,

Balls of the feet and toes.

Gently activate your legs,

Not by gripping but by feeling a subtle lift and allow that lift to travel up through the body,

Lengthening through the spine and through the top of the head.

Tuck your chin slightly,

Soften your shoulders and allow the arms to hang naturally,

Palms facing in or slightly forward.

Take a slow inhale through the nose and feel the body rise and expand.

Exhale slowly,

Feeling a sense of grounding and steadiness.

Continue to take a few breaths like this with each inhale creating space and each exhale feeling stability.

In yoga we talk about sthira and sukha,

Steadiness and ease.

See if you can hold both here,

Strong but not rigid,

Soft but not collapsed.

Notice how much is happening in stillness and this is where awareness begins.

When you're ready step out of the pose gently,

Carrying this sense of grounded presence with you into the rest of your day.

This is your practice.

I'll meet you here again tomorrow.
