Hello and welcome to Bedtime Stories.

Before we begin our journey,

Let's take a moment to relax.

Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose and slowly breathe out through your mouth.

Let's do that two more times,

In through the nose and out through the mouth.

One more time,

Feel yourself getting calm and ready for a peaceful story.

This story is called The Lily and the Field.

Once upon a time,

In the heart of a vast green field,

There lived a beautiful lily.

She stood tall with her soft white petals glistening in the sunlight.

The field around her stretched far,

As wide as the eyes could see.

Filled with wildflowers and soft green grass that swayed gently with the wind.

Every morning the lily woke up to the first rays of the sun,

Feeling the warmth on her petals and the soft breeze on her stem.

She would stretch her leaves and look around at her beautiful world.

She knew that she was exactly where she was supposed to be.

And just like the lily,

You are exactly where you're supposed to be.

The field was peaceful,

Filled with the sounds of birds chirping in the distance and the gentle rustling of the leaves in the breeze.

It was her home,

And she felt happy,

Safe and strong.

Just like you,

Listening to the story.

As the day went on,

The wind would come to visit the lily.

It was her favorite time of the day.

The wind would blow softly through the field,

Making the grass sway back and forth,

Like a gentle dance.

The lily,

She loved to dance with the wind.

She loved to sway side to side,

Slowly,

Calmly,

Letting the breeze carry her.

The wind felt so soft,

Like a friendly whisper,

And it always made her feel free.

As she danced with the wind,

Butterflies would often visit her.

They were so light,

Their wings fluttering like pieces of the sky.

The butterflies loved to dance too,

And they would twirl around the lily,

Sometimes resting on her petals,

Just for a moment,

Before flying off to explore the field.

The lily liked their company.

She didn't need to move anywhere,

The world would come to her.

Right there,

In the middle of the peaceful field.

Hello,

Little butterfly,

The lily would whisper as one perched on her petal.

The butterfly's delicate wings would shimmer in the sunlight as it twirled away,

Drifting up,

Up,

Up towards the clear blue sky.

And the lily would just smile,

Feeling the warm sun on her petals.

Sometimes clouds would drift slowly across the sky,

Casting soft shadows over the field.

The lily would gaze up at the clouds,

Wondering where they were going,

But she was happy to stay just where she was,

Rooted safely in her field.

Feel your roots safely ground you to the bed beneath you.

The lily didn't need to chase the clouds or go anywhere at all.

She was exactly where she was supposed to be.

Instead,

She would sing to the clouds.

She sang sweet,

Soft songs,

So gentle that only the wind and the butterflies could hear it.

Her songs were always about peace and calm,

About the joy of simply being.

The butterflies and the clouds listened carefully to the wisdoms in her songs,

And admired her being.

Little clouds up high she would hum,

You're soft and light,

Just like me.

The clouds drifted lazily along,

Sometimes shaped like animals,

Sometimes like puffy pillows in the sky.

But no matter their shape,

The lily stayed in her field,

Grounded and content.

As the afternoon wore on,

The sun grew warmer,

And the lily started to feel sleepy.

The heat of the day made everything in the field slow down.

The grass stopped swaying,

And the butterflies found place to rest.

And the birds' song became quieter,

As if the whole field was falling into a peaceful nap.

The lily would feel her petals getting heavy,

And her eyes start to close.

She let herself relax completely.

There was nothing she needed to do,

No place she needed to be.

She was safe here in the middle of the field.

The ground beneath her roots was strong and sturdy,

Holding her steady.

The wind,

Now just a soft breeze,

Cradled her gently,

As she began to drift off.

Ah,

Sighed the lily,

As she settled into a peaceful rest.

I am here,

There is nothing to improve,

Nowhere to go.

Just here,

Just now.

The lily loved that feeling.

It was like a deep,

Cozy hug from the earth.

She could feel her leaves and petals growing soft and sleepy in the warmth of the sun.

And as she let herself relax even more,

She felt the quiet all around her.

A quiet that made her peaceful and safe.

Soon the lily fell into a deep sleep.

In her dreams,

She was still in her field,

Surrounded by the same peacefulness.

But in her dreams,

She could dance with the stars in the night sky,

Or float on the wind like a cloud.

She felt light and free,

But always safe,

Always home.

As the sun slowly began to set,

The sky turned golden,

And the lights became soft and dim.

The whole field was peaceful,

As though the world was preparing for night.

The wind had calmed down to just the faintest whisper.

The grass now stood completely still,

And the butterflies had all flown to their resting places.

The birds were settling down in their nests,

Preparing to sleep.

The lily continued to dream,

Peaceful and content.

She knew that when she woke up again,

She would still be there,

In her beautiful green field,

Safe and sound.

She didn't need to rush.

Everything was perfect,

Just as it was.

Just as you are perfect,

Just as you are.

And so the lily slept on,

Safe in the field,

With the earth holding her roots,

And the wind keeping her company.

And as she slept,

She knew one very important thing,

That it was okay to simply be.

She didn't need to be anywhere,

Or do anything special.

Just being there,

In her quiet,

Peaceful field,

Was enough.

Just as you are enough.

And with that thought,

She slept deeply and peacefully,

Dreaming of dancing with the wind,

And floating with the clouds,

And singing to the stars.

The stars gently sang back to her,

As she drifted deeper and deeper into sleep.

And now as our story has ended,

If you're still awake,

Let's take a few last calming breaths.

Breathe in slowly,

Feel your body get soft and heavy,

And breathe out,

And let your breath become gentle,

Just like the soft breeze in the story.

Two more breaths.

And then allow yourself to drift into that same peaceful sleep as the lily.
