Manifestation.
Isn't becoming someone new.
It's remembering who you are.
Hey there,
Friend.
Welcome to the Return to Self series,
Part four.
And if you're new to this series or want to catch up on any of the sessions,
You can head over to my profile here and check out the dedicated Return to Self playlist.
I'll be updating it as new sessions are released.
This series so far has been about exploring how manifestation and desire is really all about identity.
Pointing you to the self that can live the life you want.
Being the type of person who experiences the outcomes you desire.
And in order to receive that new life.
And the things we desire,
We have to expand our capacity to receive it.
Because our identity.
.
.
Our self-concept will ultimately be tested.
This is where manifestation becomes really about identity shifting.
So then the question becomes,
What is the identity I'm actually shifting into?
And this is where the idea of identity shifting easily gets misunderstood.
Because at its heart,
Manifestation says you have to become an energetic match for what you want.
In other words,
You have to shift your state of being to become the type of person who can have the new relationship,
Receive more money,
Do the purposeful work,
Or step into the next life chapter.
There is truth in that.
But many people interpret that as.
.
.
Oh no.
I have to become someone else?
A more impressive version,
A more spiritual version,
A version of myself I have to perform.
And therein lies the trap.
Because some part of you knows you don't want to throw yourself away to have the life you desire.
You may want a better life,
But if the identity you're trying to shift into feels a bit fake,
Abstract,
Or invented,
The body will resist it.
So that brings us to an important point in this work of self-return.
The greater identity,
The greater self.
You're being called to shift into.
Cannot be invented.
It must be uncovered.
And this is where we enter from today.
So one of the common reactions I notice when someone is first exposed to the idea of identity shifting is that they think,
If I change,
Does that mean I have to lose who I am?
That is the question inside of a lot of resistance to identity work,
To self-change.
Because the current you is the only version of yourself that feels like you right now.
So while you may be fed up with certain patterns in your life,
And want to let go of old reactions,
Certain insecurities,
And habitual ways of playing small.
That familiar self,
Though,
Has been practiced for a long time.
It knows how to stay reasonable.
How to keep the peace,
Avoid risk.
Mitigate disappointment.
And lower expectations for yourself.
This is all familiar.
And what is familiar will feel safe,
Because it can be predicted.
So when your proverbial future self starts sounding like a completely different person,
The body has good reason to hesitate.
Because it's not only asking,
Can I have this new life?
It's also asking,
Will I still be me if I become the kind of person who can live this?
This is why your future self cannot be some idealized character you invent.
This is why your future self is not a stranger.
Your future self has to be a deeper version of yourself that you already recognize on some level.
One that feels like a homecoming in the body.
Even if you haven't lived as that version consistently,
It has always been a part of you.
Revealing itself in small moments throughout your life.
Maybe you felt it when you expressed yourself more openly.
Maybe in the constant pull toward work that feels more alive.
We're in that deeper knowing that there is a larger way to live than the way you always have.
That is the self identity shifting points towards.
It's not somebody else you have to turn into,
But the part of you that has been covered over by fear and conditioning.
That means your next identity technically won't be shifted into.
It will be uncovered,
When you perhaps stop gripping so tightly to the familiar self that learned how to stay safe.
And then letting the deeper you finally get a little air.
So now the question begins to change.
Instead of asking,
Who do I need to become to manifest what I want?
You start asking something closer to the heart of what manifestation is really all about.
What self has always been here that I am being called to remember?
Let me repeat that.
What self has always been here?
That I am being called to remember.
That question doesn't send you searching for a better you to become.
It brings you back to the self that has already shown signs of itself in your life.
So here's your invitation for today.
It's small.
Pick one real desire you've been carrying and explore how you've been trying to become someone else to have it.
Notice if that version of you feels forced.
It feels exhausting.
Notice the identity you think you need to perform before you can have the kind of life you desire.
Then ask.
What remains when I set that version down?
There's likely some quality of your real self that wants to come forward now.
It could be courage,
Maybe it's trust.
Likely it's a real part of you that already knows how to create,
How to speak,
How to love.
How to relate to others.
And how to live with more permission.
Let that be the beginning.
Of returning to yourself.
Because identity shifting and manifestation was never about becoming unrecognizable to yourself.
To remembering who you are.
You trade self-replacement with self-remembrance.
This is where you're headed next.
Your future self is not a stranger.
