The Buddha was born with supreme spiritual virtues, dedicating his life out of immense compassion to helping sentient beings escape the mental and physical suffering inherent in existence. Having a human body is a rare, precious opportunity, and while life is difficult, we must endure these challenges with patience. We should never look down on others or animals, as everyone is simply in the process of working through their own individual karma. By cultivating the four divine abidings and maintaining loving-kindness toward all beings, anyone can train their mind through meditation to become a noble disciple. The Buddha's vital instruction was to avoid living heedlessly; to live without mindfulness is to be like the walking dead. Instead, we should reflect on the uncertainty of life to ground our practice. We can honor the Buddha by resolving to let go of anger, greed, and delusion, finding true inner peace through mindful awareness within a chaotic world.
