Hi,

My name is Ale,

Short for Alejandra.

I am so happy that you are here listening.

It's really a blessing for me to share this space with you.

I want to share writing some notes really that I wrote.

It's really a story that I wrote a few years ago and if you feel like when you were a child you felt very authentic and spontaneous and then over the years you started to lose that authenticity and that innocence,

That spark that characterizes all children,

Then this story is gonna be very relatable.

It's a story about me in a way.

It's kind of a story and slash poem.

I am not a poet at all but I tried my best and I want to share it with you.

So here I go.

When I was a baby,

My first best friends were love,

Curiosity,

And pleasure.

Once I turned seven,

Joy and authenticity joined the party too.

When I turned 13,

I met self-doubt and we became close but authenticity decided to leave.

After a couple of years,

Self-doubt invited her closest friends,

Insecurity and fear.

I was so distracted by them that didn't notice when joy,

Love,

And pleasure decided to part ways.

When I turned 18,

Fear convinced me to hang out with the popular girls,

Ambition and pride.

They were fun but after several years with them,

Something started to feel off.

We looked well together but my heart was longing for the peace I felt when being with joy,

Authenticity,

And love.

I looked for them everywhere but they were hard to find.

After a while,

I decided to stop looking and spend time with myself.

It wasn't easy but my heart told me it was for my best.

One day,

Love showed up at my door.

She didn't stay but her visits became frequent.

Later,

Authenticity and joy started to visit as well.

Now,

After several years of bonding,

They are again my best friends.

I know fear will never go away and that's okay because I know I have the unconditional support from my three best friends.

Learning how to accept and be with yourself is the way to make love,

Authenticity,

And joy a part of your life.

You don't need anything nor anyone to find them.

You only need yourself.

All my love.

Ale, this is so beautiful! For the last few years I’ve been wishing I could find the spark that I had as a child before pain, fear and distrust entered my life. It feels like they have moved in and will never leave. I’m grateful for your poem that lets me know that I am not alone in this feeling and that I can still invite joy and love back into my life. ♥️

Wow Ale. What a creative and thought provoking story/poem. Thank you so much for sharing this. The concept you convey of your feelings and values coming and going as friends and acquaintances is clever. It is very relatable. I am prompted to reflect, in a similar way, on my own life. I've also had some interlopers along the way and now want to find some of my old friends too! I am going through a period of re-evaluation and significant change at the moment and have noticed a few of them about lately - I need to invite them back in! Happy that your trusted and most valued friends have found their way back to you and you're back to hanging out with them. 🌞
