Today we explore Non-Sleep Deep Rest as a tool to rebalance dopamine. NSDR is rooted in the yoga nidra tradition. You’ll be guided into deep physical stillness while remaining awake, moving your attention systematically through the body and breath. The body rests. The mind stays gently aware. Research shows that yoga nidra is associated with increased dopamine release in the brain’s reward centres during the practice. At the same time, this state of deep parasympathetic regulation reduces stress and lowers overall stimulation. Together, this allows the reward system to stabilise rather than spike.
