Trying to fall back asleep after having a bad dream or even a nightmare can be challenging because it is not just the body that is shaken up.

It is our soul,

Too,

That needs peace.

This meditation will help you in cleansing the residue of your dream and find safety and softness within yourself,

So that your body and your mind and your soul feel comfortable and can gently drift off to sleep.

Close your own breath and begin to gently extend your exhales.

Become aware of your proprioception,

Your body in this space around you.

Notice the right side of your body and the space between you and the wall.

Take a deep,

Comfortable,

Cleansing breath and release.

Notice the distance between your body and the ceiling above you,

The left side of your body and the distance between you and the wall on the left side.

Breathe in this space.

Take a deep breath and release anything stuck or heavy.

Become aware of your bed,

Your mattress below you and the distance between you and the ground.

Take another,

Comfortable breath and as you exhale,

Feel yourself grounding down and releasing anything you wish to let go of,

Reminding our body that we are in this physical space and cultivating proprioception can help to turn off the inner alarm that perhaps has been activated because of your bad dream.

Now,

Let's travel to a happy and safe place within.

Can you imagine a beautiful meadow?

The meadow has a hill and on top of the hill you see a beautiful figure.

You notice this figure is on a swing on top of the hill of this beautiful meadow.

This person is gently swinging back and forth,

Back and forth.

And they smile to you.

Just looking at this person brings a wave of calmness,

A wave of soothing to you.

This person is your protector,

Your guardian angel,

A force that looks over you,

Looks after you and keeps you safe.

This guardian angel notices that you are here with them and they bring you a gift,

A beautiful ball of white light,

The most pure,

Protective and healing energy.

He hands over the ball of energy to you and you place it right in the middle of your core.

Maybe for you this is your heart or maybe it's in the center of your body.

As you place it within yourself,

With every inhale and every exhale this ball expands and grows in each direction.

With every exhale you are creating a beautiful bubble of protection around yourself and finally this beautiful bubble surrounds you completely.

It surrounds your back,

Having your back.

It surrounds your crown and your feet,

Protecting it.

It surrounds your left and right side and your front.

And with every inhale and every exhale that follows,

This beautiful shield of protection only becomes stronger,

Leaving all the bad energies,

All the negative thoughts,

All the negative dreams and emotions are left out of the bubble and only positive feelings,

Joy,

Love and light are allowed inside your bubble.

There are just a few parts of you that are awake now.

Can you sense which parts in your body are sleeping and which parts in your body are awake?

The parts in your body that are awake,

Can you help them to find calmness,

To find rest?

They too deserve the resting powers,

The healing that sleep brings with it.
