So lying down now,
Making yourself comfortable in the bed,
Gently allowing your eyes to close.
And as they close,
Take a slightly deeper breath in,
And slowly let it out,
Allowing the out-breath to relax and release,
Feeling yourself letting go,
Sinking deeper into the bed.
And the deeper you go,
The deeper you want to go.
And the deeper you want to go,
The deeper you go.
Letting go completely.
Resting,
Relaxing,
Releasing.
In a moment I'm going to ask you to imagine certain things.
It doesn't matter if you can't imagine all the things I'm asking.
This technique is a template.
One that is very powerful and useful,
But also a template that sometimes needs a little practice.
Just go with it.
Allow it to happen.
I wonder if you can imagine that your mind is like an internet browser.
It may be Safari,
Or Chrome,
Or Firefox.
Imagine now that your mind is like an internet browser.
And all those browsers nowadays use tabs at the top.
Perhaps each tab represents different thoughts that you have in your mind at the moment.
Perhaps you can see them labelled.
On each tab is a little X.
And you know that you can move the mouse pointer in your mind to that little X and close that tab.
Do that now.
Move the mouse pointer in your mind to that first tab and close it.
Click on that little X.
Now if you come across a tab that's something important,
Something that you need to deal with tomorrow,
You can bookmark it.
Save it as a bookmark and then close it.
Bookmark it first and then close it down.
It will still be there in the morning.
Begin to move along all the tabs now,
Either closing down or bookmarking and closing down.
Take a few moments to do this now.
Notice that your mind is becoming calmer,
More settled.
Your mind is feeling clearer,
More relaxed.
Letting go of all those tabs,
Of all those thoughts.
Your inner browser now completely clear of tabs.
They are all shut down.
And if you wish to,
Close the entire browser.
Feel your mind.
Notice that your mind becomes even clearer and cleaner and more relaxed now.
You can even take this one stage further by closing down the entire computer of your mind,
Knowing that it will reboot naturally in the morning.
If you wish to do that,
Do it now and with the tabs closed,
With your browser closed down,
And perhaps even with the computer of your mind switched off,
You can allow the natural process of slipping down into sleep to take place.
Sinking a little deeper down into the bed,
Allowing yourself to drift deeper and deeper asleep.
Deeper and deeper asleep.
